Sunday had some of the best online regs in the country busy playing flagships like Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire and Adda52’s Mega Suits Finale. Counting in the other big-ticket tourneys running on PokerStars India and PokerBaazi, and the Dangal Showdown coming to culmination, Sunday witnessed climactic action! Let’s take a quick look at the day`s biggest winners.
Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker’s flagship ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire made another run over the weekend, drawing in ₹1,796 entries (992 unique, 283 re-entries, and 521 rebuys) across five starting flights. This resulted in a glaring overlay worth ₹10.20 Lakhs. Only 259 runners (195 of them unique) made it to Day 2 and 255 of them were assured a payout, so it was a short sprint to the money.
Etching their name in the elite “Millionaire`s Club” for an impressive second time in three weeks was mystery player ‘Tokio999.’ The player had on October 11 championed GPS The Millionaire for ₹17.29 Lakhs. This time the player pipped former Millionaire Lite champion, Sumit ‘Sands Myth’ Sapra, heads-up to pad their bankroll by a whopping ₹17.20 Lakhs.
Sapra helped himself to a runner-up finish worth ₹9.61 Lakhs, collecting his second-best score of the year. The APL brand ambassador has also moved up one place to #4 on the annual online leaderboard and is within touching distance of crossing the ₹6 Crore-mark in online MTT earnings.
Young Gun Gaurav ‘mozzie17’ Sood (4th & 11th for ₹6.07 Lakhs), Ashumi ‘ASH1578’ Parekh (5th for ₹3.88 Lakhs), Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani (6th for ₹3.09 Lakhs), Sagar ‘strangeplay’ Choudhury (7th for ₹2.36 Lakhs), Dhirendra ‘dhiru91’ Kumar (8th for ₹1.67 Lakhs) and Srihari ‘bangbang99’ Bang (9th & 14th for ₹2.12 Lakhs) were others on the competitive FT.
The site`s signature Sunday tourney, the ₹35 Lakhs GTD Sunday SuperStack was championed by ‘TheDarkKnightReturns’ who topped the 613-strong field (302 unique, 121 re-entries and 190 rebuys) to net ₹6.77 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja (4th for ₹2.43 Lakhs), Kunal ‘TiltAtma’ Patni (5th for ₹1.90 Lakhs), and Sanket ‘BANK$Y’ Arora (9th for ₹63,700) were the other standout performers.
Over at the ₹8.50 Lakhs GTD Money Heist, a familiar name, Kanav ‘SneakyBlinders’ Parwal rose atop a 236-entry field to win ₹1.74 Lakhs following a heads-up deal with Chirag ‘chilling’ Sodha (runner-up for ₹1.56 Lakhs). This is the second time this year Parwal has won this tourney. He had championed the GPS #55 Money Heist on September 13 for ₹2.24 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘Intuitionn’ Mahesh (3rd for ₹89,250) and the Grand Mega Suits Finale champion Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover (4th for ₹73,100) were among the standout FT finishers.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s Sunday schedule was an action-packed affair with two flagship tourneys on the schedule – the Sunday Special Progressive Knockout (PKO) and the Sunday Highroller – both putting up ₹15 Lakhs in the prize pool guarantee.
A total of 275 contenders (166 unique and 109 re-entries) converged for the Sunday Special PKO, overlaying ₹1.25 Lakhs. Harsh Kumar ‘kakori kabab Dembla was the last player standing in the tourney and won ₹2.93 Lakhs. The Thursday highroller winner, ‘varunkandaswami,’ finished runner-up for ₹1.77 Lakhs.
Dembla came close to winning a second title yesterday as he finished runner-up in PokerBaazi’s ₹5 Lakhs GTD BSS Monster 6-Max for ₹90,150. His Sunday evening session earned him ₹3.83 Lakhs, expanding his lifetime scorecard to ₹1.84 Crore.
Anurag ‘GutshotHaiBro’ Srivastava (3rd for ₹1.16 Lakhs), last Sunday’s Adda52 Millions champion and weekly leaderboard topper Armaan Armaan ‘armaan007111’ Kochhar (5th for ₹78,593), Young Gun Anmol ‘Kaanchacheena’ Mehta (6th for ₹60,177), PokerGuru Ambassador Ratul ‘MuscariAs’ Steves (7th for ₹34,580), and Umesh ‘dhondu.chilll’ Sharma (9th for ₹33,679) FT-ed the Sunday Special PKO.
If the former IOPC Millionaire champion, Anurag Srivastava, ran deep in the Sunday Special PKO, he closed out a hard day’s work by taking down the Sunday Highroller for ₹3.12 Lakhs. He outlasted a stacked field that comprised of eventual runner-up Guneet ‘GSK1515’ Kwatra (2nd for ₹2.34 Lakhs), Vinayak ‘koi.toh.rok.lo’ Bajaj (3rd for ₹1.76 Lakhs), Young Gun Gaurav ‘3betPanda’ Sood (4th for ₹1.32 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh ‘B00MTilt23’ Pal Singh (5th for ₹99,807), Sagar ‘sagarpupull’ Choudhury (6th for ₹75,032), Ranjeet ‘Bedevilforyou’ Negi (7th for ₹56,406), Amar ‘PsykoEko’ B Iyer (8th for ₹42,404) and PokerStars India Team Pro Muskan ‘Muskan Sethi’ Sethi (9th for ₹31,878).
While all the ITM finishers in the Sunday Special PKO earned points towards the PokerStars India Star of the Month leaderboard race, the second qualifying tourney, i.e., the ₹1 Lakhs GTD Sunday Supersonic was championed by ‘magnum736’ for ₹23,341.
Adda52
Adda52’s Sunday tournament run was dominated by the multi-flight ₹60 Lakhs GTD Grand Mega Suits Finale that mustered 996 entries (Day 1A – 179, Day 1B – 191, Day 1C – 203, Day 1D – 423) across its four starting flights. The tourney experienced a massive ₹10.20 Lakhs deficit. One-hundred-and-six players made it to Day 2 but topping them all was Young Gun Arsh ‘bigggtymer’ Grover who added a seven-figure score worth ₹12.70 Lakhs to his bankroll.
Grover defeated ‘NanielDegreanu’ (runner-up for ₹8.80 Lakhs) and ran past Raman ‘thuscame’ Gujral (4th for ₹4.57 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Devvrat ‘glitch_d’ Arya (5th for ₹3.50 Lakhs), Vishal ‘IsnapUcry’ Madan (7th for ₹1.25 Lakhs) and Abhishek ‘pomfret1989’ Goindi (8th for ₹1 Lakhs) on his way to the title. The MTT specialist also placed fourth in Spartan Poker’s Money Heist for ₹73,100 and has grown his winnings across the tracked domestic sites to ₹5.69 Crores.
The other headliner, the ₹25 Lakhs GTD Adda52 Millions, brought in 234 entries (143 unique and 91 re-entries) overlaying ₹1.60 Lakhs. After almost nine hours of action, the former Full House Finale runner-up Ravindra ‘wormhole’ Arikeri shipped the tourney for ₹6.86 Lakhs! This is Arikeri’s second seven-figure score over the past fortnight. Two Sundays back, he had placed second in the ₹1 Crore GTD Full House Finale for ₹12.98 Lakhs.
Anonymous player ‘BackDoorMan’ came in second in the Adda52 Millions for ₹4 Lakhs. The player also placed third in the ₹60 Lakhs GTD Grand Mega Suits Finale for ₹6.50 Lakhs, to earn over ₹10.50 Lakhs last night.
Others who made it to the six-max FT included Harsh ‘harsh20’ Karanpuria (3rd for ₹3 Lakhs), Ayush ‘lazyman’ Garg (4th for ₹2.15 Lakhs), Sanket ‘blackcod’ Arora (5th for ₹1.50 Lakhs) and Siddarth ‘badtameez_donk’ Singhvi (6th for ₹1.06 Lakhs).
Another anonymous player ‘footrocks’ championed the ₹12.50 Lakhs GTD Big Slick, outlasting 536 runners to win ₹2.31 Lakhs.
PokerBaazi
The star attraction on PokerBaazi was the BSS SuperStack, offering a ₹20 Lakhs prize pool guarantee for an entry buy-in of ₹5,500. The site skipped this tourney last week since there was the MoneyMaker playing out, but it returned at 7 PM last night to register 363 entries (187 unique and 176 re-entries). This was however not enough for the event to surpass its guarantee and there was an overlay shortfall ₹1.85 Lakhs. Unsurprisingly so it was the #1 ranked player in the country, Young Gun Gaurav ‘gaug17’ Sood, who outran the competition to capture the title for ₹4.20 Lakhs! Sood, who has dominated the annual rankings for a scorching 24 consecutive weeks, squared off against ‘pokerman1’ (runner-up for ₹2.94 Lakhs) in the heads-up encounter.
When Sood comes into his own, he can be hard to contain and last night was just one of those days. He raked in a cache of deep runs collectively running into seven-figures. This included Spartan Poker’s ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire, where he placed fourth and 11th for ₹5.93 Lakhs (total). Another FT finish for Sood in the PokerStars India Sunday Highroller saw him earn ₹1.32 Lakhs. That adds up to a seven-figure score of ₹11.46 Lakhs.
Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani (3rd for ₹1.89 Lakhs), also ran deep in the BSS SuperStack. Nitin ‘philhermouth’ Arora (5th for ₹1.05 Lakhs), Vinod ‘figureitout’ Megalmani (6th for ₹84,000), Pranav ‘GarviGujarat’ Desai (7th for ₹70,000), and Rohit ‘rohit22rm’ Mishra (8th for ₹56,000) were the other seasoned regs who were able to post FT finishes.
Closing out PokerBaazi`s ₹45+ Lakhs GTD Baazi Grinders Series was its showstopper – the ₹6 Lakhs GTD Grinders #33 Main Event. The final day`s play started an hour after the BSS SuperStack and managed to bring together 380 entries with the site having to fill in an overlay of ₹30,000. Championing the tourney to win the ₹1.26 Lakhs paycheque was well-known pro Haider ‘haider’ Madraswala. The online pro had two Sundays back won the ₹10 Lakhs GTD GPS #49 Money Heist for ₹2.13 Lakhs. With another title win his overall online scorecard has improved to ₹85.43 Lakhs.
Mystery player ‘dilbaghsingh’ finished runner-up in the Grinders Main Event for ₹88,200. The player also FT-ed the ₹5 Lakhs GTD BSS Monster 6-Max, placing seventh for ₹21,400.
PokerGuru Ambassador Rony ‘bisadip176’ Chowdhury (3rd for ₹56,700), and Sumeet ‘Sumitsingh199’ Rajpurohit (6th for ₹25,200) also FT-ed the Grinders Main Event.
Pranav ‘GarviGujarat’ Desai also got himself a Sunday title after outplaying the 158-strong field in the ₹5 Lakhs GTD BSS Monster 6-Max for ₹1.29 Lakhs. Harsh ‘100crdream’ Dembla finished runner-up for ₹90,150.
PokerDangal
PokerDangal’s new tourney offering, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Dangal Showdown, played down to a winner last night. The ₹990 entry buy-in tourney logged in 734 entries (492 unique players and 242 rebuys) to register a whopping ₹3.39 Lakhs overlay. Day 2 of the tourney had 84 qualifiers converge – all assured a payday. ‘Xhudai’ climbed to the top and won ₹2 Lakhs after beating ‘OnePlus6T’ (runner-up for ₹1.35 Lakhs) heads-up.
Ravi ‘DJBravo’ Yadav (4th for ₹55,000) was among the known players who made it to the 6-Max FT.
