It was an electrifying Sunday that saw Spartan Poker’s Ultimate Value Series and Adda52’s Deltin Online Poker Tournament come to an end. At the same time, National Poker Series commenced its inaugural run on PokerBaazi. Given that the weekend was so action-packed, Monday obviously paled in comparison.
With the NPS hitting Day 2 on Monday, this first-of-its-kind series was the biggest talking point of the community. So much so that for the first time in several weeks, Spartan Poker’s The Big Deal, which was also the biggest guaranteed tournament on offer last night, registered an overlay.
PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot championed The Big Deal, clinching his first title of the year for a ₹8.19 Lakhs payday. The three-time Millionaire runner-up finisher Goonjan Mall bagged yet another runner-up finish worth ₹5.61 Lakhs.
Speaking of the NPS, the series has had a guarantee-crushing start so far. The Monday headliner, the NPS#9 Mega Stack, was won by ‘Smikijoejr’ (anonymity requested) for ₹3.65 Lakhs. Abhijeet Kumar came second for ₹2.56 Lakhs.
Akshay Dhingra and Anirban D Das were the other breakout winners. Dhingra shipped Adda52’s Voyager and placed third in PokerBaazi’s NPS#9 for a cumulative score of ₹2.48 Lakhs. Das won PokerBaazi’s NPS#12 and finished runner-up in PokerStars India’s Deepstack, adding almost ₹2.18 Lakhs in winnings.
Adarsh Subham deserves special mention for winning both the Ultrasonic and Primetime Grind on PokerStars India, cashing ₹48,865 overall.
Here are the Monday highlights!

Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker went on repeat mode, running both The Big Deal and ReCharge. The ₹33 Lakhs GTD The Big Deal was the biggest guaranteed tourney to play down to a winner last night. The 9:30 PM event clocked in 160 entrants, and for a change, experienced a ₹1 Lakh overlay deficit. PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Donkey 07’ Munot championed the tourney to win ₹8.19 Lakhs, with Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall placing runner-up for ₹5.61 Lakhs.
This was Ashish Munot’s first title win of 2021, pushing his lifetime online winnings north of ₹5.35 Crores. The runner-up Goonjan Mall has also moved up three places to #5 in the annual leaderboard standings.
Ashish Munot’s stats: Lifetime Winnings: ₹5.35 Crores|Lifetime Profits: ₹2.09 Crores|Annual Winnings: ~₹1.19 Crores
The second Monday flagship offering on Spartan Poker, the ₹9.50 Lakhs GTD Recharge, fared much better than The Big Deal. Registering 569 entries, the event generated a ₹11.38 Lakhs prize pool. The anonymous user ‘Grandmasterbob’ shipped the event for ₹1.84 Lakhs, just as Akho ‘Serial Limper’ John Richa came second for ₹1.76 Lakhs.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s inaugural Summer Series has just one event left to play down to a winner, the ₹1 Crore GTD Summer Series-123 Main Event. With late registrations open on Day 2, the ₹11,000 entry buy-in tourney ended up logging in 912 entries, filling in ₹8.80 Lakhs in overlays. The top 116 places are to get paid, and the 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin ‘kornkid4’ Labroo money-bubbled the event. The play was paused with 18 players left in contention, and ‘mdigurgaon’ (2,291,856) (anonymity requested) bagged the overnight chip lead. The #1 ranked player of the year Manish ‘theoldestkid’ Lakhotia (1,662,122) and ‘vegasbaby1892’ (1,393,792), hold the other top stacks. The 18 finalists will return later today to compete for the honor of becoming the first-ever Summer Series Main Event champion!
PokerStars India’s ₹1.75 Lakhs GTD Deepstack ran from 9:30 PM to 1:40 AM, with a starting field of 154 entries generating a ₹1.92 Lakhs prize pool. The mystery user ‘mental_daddy’ outlasted them all to win ₹45,103 (including ₹27,710 in bounties). Online phenom Anirban ‘nocluewho’ D Das finished runner-up for ₹18,447 (including ₹1,055 in bounties).
Anirban Das has been on a winning streak off-late and took down his third title in the three days last night. He cashed a total of six events on Monday, raking in almost ₹2.18 Lakhs in Monday earnings.

PokerBaazi
Day 2 of the National Poker Series (NPS) hosted six events yet again. Two of the series marquees, the ₹1 Crore GTD NPS Golden Rush and the ₹50 Lakhs GTD NPS Kick-Off, played out their second and third starting flights, respectively.
The NPS#8 Golden Rush registered 1,677 entries, taking the total entry count to 3,672 entries after just two starting flights have been completed. With 13 more flights left to run, this ₹550 buy-in tourney seems well on track to reach the 20,000 entries it needs to break even on its eight-figure advertised guarantee. Coming back to Flight 1B, 208 runners made it through to Day 2 with ‘theconqrr’ (581,000) bagging the day`s top stack. ‘mivaan’ (426,000) and ‘sagarmaheshwari’ (374,000) rounded out the top three stacks. The Flight 1A chip leader ‘fisheries’ (576,000) is still the overall chip leader.
The NPS#11 Kick-Off Flight 1C logged in 516 entries, of which only 56 players progressed to Day 2. Last week’s The Millionaire champion Rajat ‘LungFakeer’ Sharma (394,000) topped the survivors, with Young Gun Siddhanth ‘ender’ Kripalani (322,000) and ‘theazorisback’ (310,000) carrying forward the other top stacks. The ₹2,750 entry buy-in NPS Kick-Off has filled in 1,679 entries so far, and needs approximately 321 more entries from its fourth and final flight, 1D, to hit its listed guarantee. Given the current pace, the NPS Kick-Off should crush its advertised guarantee comfortably.
The third event to host a starting flight was the ₹10 Lakhs GTD NPS#10 Freeze Out. The first of two starting flights, Flight 1A, gathered 321 entries, and only 48 made it through to Day 2. Shravan ‘fishstars’ Chhabria (255,000) emerged as the end-of-Flight 1A chip leader, while Anurag ’13anurag’ Srivastava (245,000) and ‘Ashutosh.anand7’ (221,000) bagged the next top stacks.
The featured event on Day 2 of the NPS, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD NPS#9 Mega Stack, locked in 1,075 entries, collecting a prize pool over 2X the guarantee worth ₹21.50 Lakhs. ‘Smikijoejr’ (anonymity requested) took down the event for ₹3.65 Lakhs, besting Abhijeet ‘ERROR404’ Kumar (runner-up for ₹2.56 Lakhs) heads-up. The winner now has ₹46.55 Lakhs in recorded online winnings.
Anirban ‘pottysingh’ D Das (Won ₹5 Lakhs GTD NPS#12 Hyper Sprint for ₹1.75 Lakhs) and ‘backchod’ (Won ₹2 Lakhs GTD NPS#7 KO for ₹69,258) were the other NPS gold medalists on Monday.
Adda52
With the Deltin Online Poker Series (DOPT) now in the books, Adda52 has moved back to its regular weekly tournaments. Headlining the Monday roster was the ₹8 Lakhs GTD Iron Man. The event logged in 467 entries, generating a ₹8.49 Lakhs prize pool, and the former DOPT JAQK champion, ‘dp178,’ shipped the event for ₹1.83 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with Avinash ‘avinkon’ Koneru (runner-up for ₹1.47 Lakhs). The champion now has ₹9.72 Lakhs in recorded winnings on Adda52.
Akshay ‘nofuchsgiven’ Dhingra trounced the 376-entry field in the ₹3 Lakhs GTD Voyager to claim the lion’s share of the ₹3.76 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹77,032. A heads-up chop saw ‘aajay9931’ take home ₹73,932 in second-place prize money.
This was the second time Akshay Dhingra claimed the Voyager title, with his previous title win coming on May 17. Dhingra also final-tabled PokerBaazi’s NPS#9 Mega Stack, placing third for ₹1.66 Lakhs, pocketing ₹2.48 Lakhs in Monday winnings.
