Team India has been on a roll at the 2019 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila, especially the star attraction PHP 65,000 Main Event. A group of nine Indians had charged into Day 2 with the ever-consistent Young Gun Sahil Chuttani leading from the front. After several hours of play, Chuttani was the last man standing from the Indian contingent as he carried the 10th biggest stack of 1,020,000 (34 BB’s) to Day 3. Chuttani, who is on the hunt for his first cash at the APPT Manila stop, is now assured a minimum payout of ₱257,500 (₹3.48 Lakhs).

Anant Purohit was another Indian who was poised to make it through to Day 3, but sadly fell short becoming one of the last players to be eliminated before the day wrapped up. He finished 39th for ₱231,500 (~₹3.13 Lakhs).

PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek Singh placed 74th for ₱167,500 (~₹2.26 Lakhs) and Vinod Megalmani rounded out the Indian cashes by finishing 100th for ₱141,500 (~₹1.91 Lakhs).

Netherland’s Thijs Hilberts (2,460,000 – 82 BBs) is leading the 36 remaining survivors to Day 3.

Though Sahil Agarwal and Aditya Sushant were unable to breach the money line in the Main Event, both of them jumped into the PHP 200,000 APPT High Roller and successfully made it through to Day 2. Agarwal is among the top 10 stacks of Day 1 as he bagged the seventh-biggest stack of 149,200, while Sushant carries a below-average stack of 43,100. They will be joined on Day 2 by another Indian competitor and India’s first solo WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer who amassed 58,800 in chips.

Vinod Megalmani (107,500), Mani Singh (82,500) and Kanishka Samant (67,500) were seen in action on Day 1 of the PHP 33,000 Saturday SuperStack Freezeout, with all three challengers advancing to Day 2.

Two side events crowned champions on August 3, namely Teck Heng Chua (PHP 15,000 NLHE Hyper-Turbo Freezeout for ₱419,900) and Sunmoon Kim (Re-Buy Charity Event PHP 300,000 Guarantee for ₱266,300).

Chuttani had entered Day 2 with the biggest stack of 231,500 (77 BBs) among the Indian contingent. Early into the day, Chuttani was involved in a three-way all-in pot. Chuttani’s was pitted against Xinglong Huang‘s and another player’s . The board showed and Huang raked in the massive pot, while Chuttani won an equally big side pot taking his count to 900,000.

During level 19, Chuttani knocked out a player when the former’s overpowered his opponent’s . The board gave Chuttani a flopped pair of kings, bringing an end to his rival’s run. Chuttani’s stack crossed the million-mark, reaching 1,150,000 in chips, as he assumed the role of chip leader.

Two levels later, Chuttani lost a three-way pot against Yap Sen Wong and Gabriel Remigio which saw the former’s stack fall below the million-mark to 950,000. But soon enough, he was seen chipping up once again. During level 22, with the board open , Chuttani check-called a bet of 160,000 from an unknown opponent. The river came and Chuttani tanked for a while before checking. The opponent also tanked before checking back. Chuttani turned over for a flopped pair of jacks, while his opponent mucked his hand.

Chuttani ended the day with the tenth biggest stack of 1,020,000 (34 BB’s) among the 36 survivors heading to Day 3.

Anant Purohit was the last Indian to fall on Day 2. He had started off the day with 150,500 (50 BBs) in chips and even made it to the final level of the day, but was eliminated by the eventual chip leader Thijs Hilberts. Purohit’s ran into Hilberts . The latter rivered a pair of aces on the runout , ending Purohit’s run in 39th place for ₱231,500 (~₹3.13 Lakhs).

PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek Singh (74th for ₱167,500 – ₹2.26 Lakhs) and Vinod Megalmani (100th for ₱141,500 – ₹1.91 Lakhs) rounded out the Indian cashes in the Main Event.
