The APT 2014 Cambodia $1,100 Main Event is now into Day 2, after the finish of the two entry flight days. As reported earlier, Dave Fish with 196,800, was the chip leader on Day 1A; however, he fell back to 2nd position by the end of Day 1B, with Michael Lindstrom (cover image) taking the lead with 211,000 chips.

APT has resumed its Cambodia stop after a hiatus of two years and this time the venue was shifted to the Queenco Casino and Hotel at beach town of Sihanoukville, almost four hours away from the capital of Phnom Penh.

Whether the long journey or the lack of a guaranteed prize pool is the reason, the Main event saw a poor turnout of just 112 players. Or perhaps, one can blame it on the WSOP exhaustion that deterred players from attending.

Day 1B flight of the Main Event saw another 53 entrants ponying up $1,100 buy-in taking the total number of entries to 112. At the end of day’s play, Michael Lindstrom blazed his way through the lines and emerged chip leader with 211,000 chips in play.

39 players will resume seats at the felts for Day 2 of the Main Event eyeing the big win, when it starts today at 1pm Indian time. While Lindstorm will open the day as the chip leader, Dave Fish and Vietnam’s Hong Hai Tran will follow at 2nd and 3rd chip position respectively.

While the results of the day will be clear later, these are the chip counts going in at the start of the play on Day 2.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing side events, the US $220 Pot Limit Omaha tournament saw Russian Dvornikov Svayatoslav put in a truly memorable performance to win the event. The table had amazing moments as Svayatoslav struggled in no man’s land with barely one percent of the chips in play, with all the rest stacked with Poker@Queenco’s Mike Ross. In a series of miraculous double ups, the Russian turned the tide and claimed the win.

Another side event that came to a close on the same day was the US $110 Deep Stack Turbo tournament and the one who took down the event was none other than the Main Event Day 1A chip leader Dave Fish.

Fish has had an incredible series so far. He first cashed at the High Roller event after finishing third for US $9,500 and followed it up by taking the chip lead on Day 1A of the Main Event. Let’s see if Fish can carry this form onto Day 2 of Main Event where he starts in second chip position.

Besides the Main Event, the poker blast will continue on Monday with the US $330 No Limit Hold’em at 3pm and the US $110 WeLoveSport.com Deep Stack Turbo at 7:00pm!
