About Asian Poker Tour (APT)

The Asian Poker Tour began in 2008 and its first two seasons covered Macau and the Philippines, though they also collaborated on many side events, which established their name.

The tour usually covers 8 to 10 different events, hopping along several destinations, such as the Philippines, Macau, Korea, Australia, Mauritius, China, India and Cambodia, besides having hosted a special event in London in 2012.

The events are suitable for all kinds of players, making the series, highly attractive for high stakes professionals, as well as the small stakes recreational players. Buy-in`s start at around $120 for side events and the main events from $2,300.

The APT Player of the Year award was initiated in 2012, and it bestows $8,000 worth of buy-ins to APT tournaments, to each lucky winner. Samad Razavi has held the position of Player of the Year in the APT, for the last two years. It is to be seen, if he continues to hold on to his crown this year, or is finally dethroned by another.

In 2011, APT initiated a new Asian Series brand, based on the existing APT structure, but at much lower buy-in. The tournament extended its visit to a first-time stop in Goa, India, held at the Casino Royale on the Mandovi River. Team PokerGuru dominated the series with several Team Pro`s winning side events at the series but the best came from Team Pro Sangeeth ‘Samoh’ Mohan. Samoh won the headline event of the series – ₹50,000 APT Asian Series Goa Main Event, taking home ₹23,46,400, after warring 158 entries and added another ₹5,26,500 to his collects by winning the ₹15,000 Greed Event.

APT repeated its stop at Goa, again in 2012, after it began with a special event in London. Swede Martin Nilsson won the APT Asian Series Goa Main Event pocketing ₹19,42,000. Manan Khetan took home ₹1,061,000, for 2nd place.

PokerGuru had reported earlier that this year, the APT would see its return to Cambodia, after a hiatus of two years, where it last played out in 2012. This 5th stop in Cambodia is scheduled for July 23rd to July 30th 2014 in the beach town of Sihanoukville at the newly launched poker room in the Queenco Casino and Hotel. The Cambodia schedule includes a Main Event with a buy-in of US 1,100, 13 side events, 7 satellites and a high roller event.
