Casino Pride, moored on Mandovi River in Goa, will once again play host to one of the most popular domestic poker series, the third edition of the Baadshah Gaming Live Tournament (BLT).
The relationship between Baadshah Gaming and Casino Pride runs deeper than the poker series. Back in July 2017, Casino Pride Group purchased a 30% stake in OceanKing Software Solutions LLP that owns and operates Baadshah Gaming. Not to mention that the co-founder of the online gaming startup company, Madhav Gupta an avid poker player himself has been operating the poker room in Casino Pride for several years!
The partnership between these two companies (Baadshah & Casino Pride) was strategically convened to take a step into the ‘click and mortar’ business model. While the tournament would be held in the poker room of the casino, the online satellites were hosted on the Baadshah Gaming website.
“Baadshah Gaming has always aimed to be a truly click-and-mortar business, with our presence both online as well live. Towards that goal, we would be conducting the Main Event Day 1A on the Sunday before the series online on Baadshah Gaming. This is first ever instance of merging live and online tournament series in India, and we are super excited to see how the poker community takes to this idea.” said Gupta.
Following the success of the two preceding editions, in December 2017 and April 2018, Baadshah Gaming announced that it would bring back its live tournament series for a third edition on public demand. The brand then decided to include its loyal fan and player base in its decision-making process. A tentative schedule was release by the online poker firm on social media, asking for feedback from poker enthusiasts. The response was overwhelming, leading to a more concrete schedule being formed.
Gupta explained further stating, “We had been brainstorming both internally as well as with the poker community on social media, to work out a schedule that would be best suited for all players. We have accommodated tournaments such as PLO, a Teams event and Heads Up tourney as side events, as quite a few players showed an interest in them.”
Starting on September 30th and continuing till October 8th, this extravaganza will consist of six events. With buy-ins ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹75,000, the series is sure to draw in a big crowd! Not to forget, its 100% rake free and TDS will be deducted on net winnings!
The showstopper of the series is indubitably the Main Event. In the April 2018 edition, the ₹30,000 buy-in Main Event registered 187 entries and the winner took home ₹17 Lakhs. Hoping to not only recreate the success but also improve on it, BLT will be hosting the first starting flight, i.e. Day 1A, of the Main Event online.
Gupta added, “The rationale behind the concept is to give more players an opportunity to participate in the BLT Main Event. We hope this would allow a larger number of recreational players to join since they don’t have to spend as much time away from home and work. Not just that, it’s as much about merging the two types of poker and gives many more players the ability to take a shot at the main from the comfort of their own homes”
A popular hunting ground for many Indian pros including WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant, who won the ₹10K Warm-Up Event last edition for ₹3.89 Lakhs, Vivek Rughani, who was runner-up in the ₹25K Heads-Up Event for ₹2 Lakhs and PokerStars India Team Pro Aditya Agarwal, the third edition of the Baadshah Gaming Live Tournament, like its predecessors, is expected to be a raging success!
