The most awaited event at the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) January 2020 edition, the ₹35K Main Event played out it’s last two starting flights on Sunday. With all the four starting flights of the Main Event now done and dusted, the final count has come in at 609 entries (Day 1A – 232, Day 1B – 59, Day 1C – 213, and Day 1D – 105). The tournament needed 608 entries to meet the advertised guarantee of ₹2 Crores and just about managed to make it across.
Day 1C kicked off at 4 PM and attracted 213 runners in the field. End of play, only 39 players advanced to Day 2 with well-known pro and former IPC champion, Zarvan Tumboli bagging the end-of-day chip lead. Tumboli is a very accomplished pro with numerous deep runs in and across Asia. He had taken down the 2018 WPT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Cup and finished third in the 2018 WPT India Big Bounty. He will be returning to Day 2 with a stack of 463,000 – the second largest stack overall.
The fourth and final starting flight, Day 1D (Turbo) was scheduled to begin at 9 PM but was pushed back an hour. Nishant Sharma (416,000) was the player in the pole position when the chips were bagged.
Day 2 will see 104 survivors take their seats with Day 1A chip leader Phanindra Akkina (501,500) assuming the role of the start of Day 2 chip leader. The Day 1C chip leader Zarvan Tumboli (463,000) is placed second in chips followed by Jai Saha (441,500) in third place.
Among those who have carried sizeable stacks from Day 1C were Aravind Raj (316,000) PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek Singh (315,000) and Ankit Wadhawan (308,000). Also bagging chips were former WSOP champion Nikita Luther (176,000), Mayank Agarwal (170,000), Sajal Gupta (148,000), Madhav Gupta (131,000), Vidwath Shetty (110,500), Aayush Garg (110,000), Anuj Yadav (109,500) and Arsh Grover (56,000).
Quite a few notables bagged chips from Day 1D, and the list includes names like Anant Purohit (397,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved (327,500), Sriharsha Doddapaneni (239,000), Rohit Jinwal (226,000), former BPT champion Gokul Krishna (204,000), Kanchan Sharma (200,000), Siddharth Mundada (197,000), Abhinav Iyer (153,000), Raghav Bansal (149,000), Siddarth Singhvi (145,500), Shardul Parthasarathi (143,000) reigning BPT High Roller champion Navkiran Singh (126,000), Abhishek Rathod (115,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul Raj (65,000), Shashank Jain (58,000) and Vivek Rughani (42,500).
Day 2 of the event begins at 2 PM on Monday, where the 104 remaining players will play down to the final table.
