Belarus has for quite some time been known as a hub for poker in Eastern Europe, but now it has well and truly carved a place for itself on the global poker map. And most of that recognition has been a direct result of the breakthrough year that Nikita Bodyakovskiy had in 2018.

The Belarusian native had posted his first score back in 2010 but had to wait till 2017 to win his first live international title. It came in the A$50,000 NLHE Shot Clock Six Max event at the 2017 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. While 2017 saw Bodyakovskiy pick up several scores, it was only a year later when he truly came to fame.

Starting with the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau Poker Cup 28, the rising poker superstar won a total of five major international titles. His most talked about wins were perhaps his back-to-back Main Event titles at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series. Bodyakovskiy first shipped the HK$ 1,000,000 NLHE – Triton Super High Roller Main Event in Montenegro in May 2018 for a whopping HK$19,618,400 ($2,499,184). He followed up this win by taking down the HK$2,000,000 NLHE – Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Main Event in Jeju in July for a massive HK$41,250,000 ($5,257,027).

He went on to win titles in the €100,000 NLHE – Super High Roller at the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona and the €25,000 NLHE – King’s Short Deck Championship at the 2018 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), Rozvadov. He wrapped up the year in style with a fourth-place finish in the $250,000 NLHE – Super High Roller Championships at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party, Nassau for $700,000.

After such a fantastic 2018, it should come as no shock that the 26-year-old pro has started off 2019 on a high note and is now a member of Team partypoker. Joining the likes of Isaac Haxton, Fedor Holz, Patrick Leonard, Sam Trickett, Jason Koon and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Bodyakovskiy was recently confirmed as the latest addition to the online poker giant’s pro team

An avid chess player as a child, Bodyakovskiy successfully translated his strategic thinking to practical skills that he was able to implement on the felts.

partypoker managing director Tom Waters welcomed Bodyakovskiy to the team stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Nikita to Team partypoker. Nikita is one of the most respected players in the world and has recorded some incredible results in such a short space of time.”

Regarding his appointment to the team, Bodyakovskiy said, “To be part of a team like this is a true honour for me. These players have been playing at the top level for years and they can always help with advice, because they know poker from the inside. I will be working in the same area and will try to add my own expertise to help improve the game of poker across the world.”

Bodyakovskiy will also be a part of partypoker’s newly-formed Player Panel. The panel will work to improve communication between partypoker and its players. Panel members will have considerable input in shaping policies and improving the overall playing experience for partypoker loyalists.
