All signs point towards an electrifying weekend coming up ahead, with another edition of The Millionaire set to pay down to a winner on Sunday. Not to forget the UVS, NPS, and IMPS flagships alongside the other weekend mainstays lined up ahead, making the next two days action-packed for the MTT crowd.

Looking back at the Friday action, it was India`s first solo bracelet champion Abhinav Iyer stealing the limelight after a prolonged four-month-long absence – something that can be attributed to him putting in more volume on international sites. The Young Gun championed the Friday showstopper Spartan Poker`s The Elite to collect his best-recorded finish on the site worth ₹9.44 Lakhs.

To say that it was a “blockbuster Friday” for our PokerGuru Ambassadors would be an understatement. The team put up a fantastic run in the Friday night flagships, posting five FT scores that included two second-place finishes!

The most prominent of them was Laksh Pal Singh, the #1 ranked player of the year, who placed third in The Elite for ₹4.64 Lakhs. His teammates Shashank Desai (runner-up in The Weekly HighRoller) and Ashishragspoker’ Munot (runner-up in The Ballers) bagged hefty scores for PokerGuru Staking.

Sanish Chhabra, Vishal Tulsyan, and Aman Parakh were the other prominent Friday winners.

Here are the Friday highlights!

Spartan Poker

All eyes are on Spartan Poker’s ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire title, and the weekend flagship continues to pull in the numbers week after week. Day 1B of The Millionaire registered 379 entries. By the end of the day`s play, only 50 runners bagged stacks for Day 2, with Saurabh ‘darksider’ Rohila (252,065), Ramji ‘bluffpolice123’ Kishore G (242,830), and Palash ‘palash777’ Nandwani (205,313) rounding out the trio of top stacks.

Running alongside The Millionaire was Spartan Poker`s Friday mainstay, the ₹40 Lakhs GTD The Elite, that generated a whopping ₹47.40 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 476 entries. The ₹11,000 entry buy-in tourney, given its 6-max slow structure, plays out very much like any decent high roller. The action went on for over eight hours before India’s first solo bracelet winner Abhinav ‘hightr0ller’ Iyer navigated his way to the top to end his four-month-long title gap. One of our Young Guns, Abhinav Iyer, fired two bullets before taking down the tourney for a personal-best (on Spartan Poker) ₹9.44 Lakhs. ‘Witty.White,’ a newly created ID with only two events tracked on the screen name, posted a runner-up finish worth ₹6.34 Lakhs.

Abhinav Iyer

For Abhinav Iyer, The Elite victory came after a four-month-long title drought. He had last won the APT Online Super High Roller for ₹ 20.73 Lakhs on January 22. Iyer currently sits with over ₹4.58 Crores* in recorded online winnings.

PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh ‘LuckyBhai$’ Pal Singh made a close run to the title in The Elite, eventually placing third for ₹4.64 Lakhs. The former IOPC – The Crown champion is the #1 ranked player on the 2021 leaderboard standings, with almost ₹1.88 Crores in annual winnings. Moreover, with ₹1.13 Crores in yearly profits, he is the only tracked player on our database, sitting on eight figures in net profits for the year.

Laksh Pal Singh

In a special CSR initiative, Spartan Poker ran the Futuristic as a ₹12 Lakhs GTD COVID Relief Tournament, with all the proceeds from the event to be contributed to “Mission Zindagi,” an initiative by the NGO “The Art of Living.” The charity tourney logged in 1,258 entries, overlaying a significant ₹1.93 Lakhs. The former The Millionaire champion Sanish ‘Sanish21’ Chhabra took down the tourney to win the ₹2.26 Lakhs top prize, with seasoned pro Kanishka ‘Wildflower’ Samant placing second for ₹1.37 Lakhs.

Sanish Chhabra

The Futuristic followed a multiple entry format allowing players to register up to three times at once. Each entry was eligible for a prize. Sanish Chhabra had a second entry in the event, and he placed 37th for ₹4,824, taking his total winnings in the Futuristic to ₹2.29 Lakhs. In all, Chhabra raked in ₹2.62 Lakhs last night, crossing ₹2.48 Crore in lifetime online earnings.

The Ultimate Value Series (UVS) May Edition is two days away from concluding, and Day 5 of the series had six events on the schedule. Topping the list of UVS winners was well-known actor-DJ-cum-poker player Siddhanth ‘Liu Kang’ Kapoor, who topped 541 entries in the ₹4.30 Lakhs GTD UVS #30 to win ₹79,894, following a five-way deal with Ajit ‘Thoda Bahot’ Singh Arora (runner-up for ₹68,429), Rajesh ‘Folsom’ Kumar (3rd for ₹61,850), Ashish ‘IshqBector’ Pareek (4th for ₹49,255), ‘DHANESH18’ (5th for ₹46,070).

The ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut Magic Edition was the biggest Friday attraction on PokerStars India. The ₹4,400 entry buy-in tourney wrangled in 221 entries, filling in ₹1.16 Lakhs in overlays. The former AOPS Main Event champion and Tuesday’s Sixth Sense winner, Vishal ‘mdigurgaon’ Tulsyan, came out on top to win his second title of the week and a ₹2.04 Lakhs payday (includes ₹1.08 Lakhs in bounties). ‘The Annihilator’ placed runner-up for ₹1.33 Lakhs (includes ₹37,656 in bounties).

PokerBaazi set up the perfect Friday schedule with The Weekly Highroller and six Indian Micro Poker Series (IMPS) tourneys.

The Weekly Highroller logged in 197 entries, obliterating its ₹12 Lakhs prize pool guarantee with a massive ₹19.70 Lakhs prize pool collection (almost 60% more than the listed guarantee). Site regular ‘dilbaghsingh’ sprinted ahead of the field to win the title and the ₹4.76 Lakhs up-top. PokerGuru Ambassador Shashank ‘indianrat’ Desai missed out on his hattrick as he placed runner-up for ₹3.34 Lakhs.

Shashank Desai
Shashank Desai

The mystery winner now has ₹79.34 Lakhs in recorded winnings on PokerBaazi, with a net profit of ₹8.31 Lakhs.

Shashank Desai has been crushing The Weekly Highroller this month. He has already won the Friday headliner twice in May – once on May 7 for ₹4.07 Lakhs and again on May 14 for ₹4.43 Lakhs. And he came within touching distance of a third consecutive title. Nevertheless, the Pune resident now sits on ₹2.76 Crores in lifetime online winnings.

Friday saw the 124 qualifying stacks from two starting flights of the ₹10 Lakhs GTD IMPS#34 Mini Main Event playing down to a winner. The event registered 1,093 entries, and four of the 124 returning players were to fall out empty-handed. Things came down to a climactic heads-up showdown between the Day 1A chip leader Ravi ‘rvjn91’ Jain and Day 1B chip leader Bhanu ‘Chennaino1’ Prakash KC. Jain prevailed to claim the title for ₹1.60 Lakhs, with Prakash conceding to a runner-up finish worth ₹1.08 Lakhs.
