The online action is heading towards a blockbuster weekend. Still, the Friday flagships were hit hard by the overlay avalanche that swept across all the top poker platforms.
It turned out to be a firecracker day for our PokerGuru Ambassadors, with the team winning two flagship titles between them alongside a string of deep runs.
Here`s a complete recap of the Friday tourneys.
Spartan Poker
Once again, Spartan Poker played host to the most-massive guaranteed tourney of the day. The site`s ₹30 Lakhs GTD The Elite ended up filling in an overlay of ₹2.60 Lakhs after 274 runners bought in for ₹11,000, and 27 players walked away with a payday. The field whittled down to an epic showdown between the 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin ‘icantwin’ Labroo and the former Elite champion Apoorva ‘apgo’ Goel. The duo eventually chopped the prize money, with Labroo winning the title for ₹5.79 Lakhs, with Goel banking an almost comparable ₹5.33 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
It`s been a blazing start in the New Year for PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘KasolHieghts’ Singh, who added another top finish to his 2021 tally by taking down the ₹10 Lakhs GTD TGIF for ₹2.06 Lakhs. Prateek ‘OMGdabangg2’ Sharma finished runner-up for ₹1.30 Lakhs. This happens to be Singh`s third flagship title victory of the week; he had won the Mega Stack on Tuesday and followed through by championing the Monster Stack on Thursday!
The ₹4.35 Lakh GTD UVS #30 found a champion in Suraj N ‘MR_BEAST’ Yadav, who banked ₹70,817 following a four-way deal with Atif ‘LuckyWoolF’ Khan (2nd for ₹54,982), ‘bhagwanBharose’ (3rd for ₹54,914) and ‘Liu Kang’ (4th for ₹50,583).
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut [6-Max] MAGIC Edition experienced an overlay shortfall of ₹1.40 Lakhs after clocking in 215 entries. Outlasting the competition was the anonymous player ‘flipper595,’ who recorded their best finish on the site yet, i.e., ₹2.26 Lakhs after defeating ‘assassin1528’ (runner-up for ₹1.26 Lakhs) in heads-up play.
The Classic [Progressive KO] ₹2 Lakhs GTD got away with a marginal shortfall as 129 entries signed up to play. ‘tks5432’ was the last player standing in the tourney and won ₹55,104 after striking a three-way deal with Piyush ‘noname3006’ Nanda (runner-up for ₹23,982) and ‘sanjbat’ (3rd for ₹28,428).
The 10:30 PM ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo found a champion in ‘Czar2110,’ who lapped up a cash prize of ₹22,373, with ‘Guddu_Ki_Gun’ placing runner-up for ₹16,922.
All the ITM finishers in the Uppercut MAGIC Edition and the Bigstack Turbo collected TLB points towards PokerStars India`s “Star of the Month” – January leaderboard race. For more details and the latest standings, visit the promotions page.
