The July edition of the 2020 India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) is now on the home stretch. With less than a week left for the series to conclude, the star attraction of the series, the ₹3 Crores GTD IOPC Main Event – The Crown, kicked off with the first of its eight starting flights. A plethora of other marquees events also played out last night. Let’s check out what went down!
Spartan Poker
The pièce de résistance of the IOPC July edition, the ₹3 Crores GTD IOPC Main Event – The Crown, is now underway. Sporting an ₹11,000 buy-in, the first starting flight of the mega event, Day 1A, drew in 515 contenders. Nearly five hours later, the field had dwindled down to 61 survivors who carried their stacks to Day 2. ‘HeroCaller’ grabbed onto the pole position with the biggest stack of 266,191. Sanat ‘avneed’ Mehrotra (255,416) and Deepak ‘chimpoo’ Bothra (241,310) were hot on his heels and rounded out the top three stacks.
The IOPC Main Event has eight starting flights that will continue till 5 PM on July 26. Day 2 is scheduled to commence at 10 PM on the same day. The player who ultimately wins the IOPC Main Event will not only receive a hefty payday but will also be adorned with a real-life majestic crown!
While the IOPC Main Event was the hot topic of conversation last night, the ₹20 Lakhs GTD IOPC Recharge also pulled in the big crowds on what is usually a slow Monday. The tourney collected a ₹22.06 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 1,103 entries. Though the event comfortably surpassed its guarantee, it fell 92 entries short of crossing last Monday’s attendance. Anonymous user ‘ro3bet’ topped the field yesterday, outlasting Arjunn ‘SirMucksAlot’ Agrawal (runner-up for ₹2.53 Lakhs) heads-up to claim the title and top prize worth ₹4.16 Lakhs.
The IOPC Edition of the ever-popular Destiny tournament, featuring a ₹10 Lakhs guarantee, also played out on Monday night. Garnering 501 entries, the event just about managed to surpass its guarantee by ₹2,000. Mystery user ‘deranzzdd’ took down the event for ₹1.77 Lakhs, following a four-way deal with ‘HerMess’ (runner-up for ₹1.51 Lakhs), ‘chotunitkat’ (3rd for ₹1.49 Lakhs) and ‘CyberPaapi’ (4th for ₹1.15 Lakhs).
The ₹7 Lakhs GTD IOPC#81 was one of the events that failed to meet its listed guarantee. After registering 229 entries, the event experienced an overlay of ₹13,000. Pranay ‘kabira speaking’ Chawla picked up his first-ever IOPC title in the event for ₹1.39 Lakhs, after a heads-up chop with ‘mmundhara1’ (runner-up for ₹1.07 Lakhs).
Site regular ‘FunkeyFox’ has been a dominating force throughout the IOPC July series. They started out by finishing runner-up in the IOPC#3 Monster Stack ₹5 Lakhs GTD on July 9, and then went on to win the IOPC#30 Monster Stack ₹5 Lakhs GTD on July 13, the IOPC#43 ₹6 Lakhs GTD on July 15 and the IOPC#59 Monster Stack₹5 Lakhs GTD on July 17. Yesterday, they added two more IOPC titles to their tally by taking down the IOPC#78 NLHE ₹6 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.11 Lakhs, and the IOPC#77 ₹4 Lakhs GTD for ₹67,711. The mystery user is currently placed #9 on the IOPC leaderboard with 7,029 points.

PokerBaazi’s Monday staple tourney, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Bout, saw 343 participants pay out the ₹2,750 buy-in. The slightly low turnout resulted in the site having to fill in an overlay of ₹1.42 Lakhs. The event continued for almost eight hours, and when the dust finally settled, ‘rhiotvaphi’ emerged as the victor, taking home ₹2.10 Lakhs in prize money.
Sagar ‘sagarpupul’ Choudhury finished runner-up for ₹1.47 Lakhs. He had final tabled three marquee events on Sunday night. His biggest score had come in Spartan Poker’s IOPC Millionaire Legends (9th for ₹2.84 Lakhs), followed by PokerStars India’s Sunday Highroller (runner-up for ₹2.57 Lakhs) and PokerBaazi’s BSS Monster 6-Max (7th for ₹20,700). Choudhury is steadily inching towards the ₹4 Crores-mark in online winnings and presently boasts of ₹3.59 Crores in lifetime earnings.
Adda52
The only big-ticket tournament on Adda52 yesterday was the ₹10 Lakhs GTD APF Inception. Dragging in 307 entrants, the event suffered an overlay of ₹17,600. Vishal ‘IsnapUcry’ Madan and Deepak ‘Peacelover’ Singh battled it out for the top honors, and in the end, it was Madan who walked away with the title and ₹2.50 Lakhs up top. Singh had to contend with a second-place payout worth ₹1.51 Lakhs.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s ₹7 Lakhs GTD Battle Royale also joined the list of events that were hit by the overlay storm. With a turnout of 275 entries, it fell ₹12,500 short of the break-even mark. ‘Karadia M’ championed the event for ₹1.38 Lakhs. A heads-up chop secured ‘Sahni1509,’ a runner-up payout of ₹68,888.

The cynosure event of the ongoing IOPC series, the ₹3 Crores GTD IOPC Main Event – The Crown, kicked off yesterday with the first of its eight scheduled starting flights. Day 1A registered 515 entries,and by the time the day ended, only 61 players had chips left for Day 2.
Bagging the most massive stack of them all was ‘HeroCaller’ (266,191), followed by Sanat ‘avneed’ Mehrotra (255,416), and Deepak ‘chimpoo’ Bothra (241,310) to round out the top three stacks at the end of Day 1A.
Rudramani ‘pokz’ Pokhrel (173,373) and Anish ‘cajufeni’ Juwarkar (168,560) featured among the top ten stacks of the day.

The featured tourney on Day 4 of the Adda52 Poker Fest (APF), was the ₹10 Lakhs GTD APF Inception. It pulled in 307 entries to register a nominal ₹17,600 overlay.

Eventually, Madan clinched the title for ₹2.50 Lakhs, while Singh had to settle for a runner-up payday worth ₹1.52 Lakhs.This was one of two FT finishes for Madan yesterday.
