As has been the norm, the Monday MTTs were drenched in overlays. However, with Spartan Poker’s Grand Poker Series (GPS) set to make a comeback from October 2, there are some massive guaranteed tournaments to look forward to later this week. For now, let’s take a look at what took place yesterday.
Spartan Poker
Turning up the heat on Monday night was Spartan Poker’s ₹10 Lakhs GTD ReCharge that registered 485 contenders, but fell about 15 entries short of the break-even mark. One of India’s most well-known poker pros and a former WSOP bracelet winner Aditya ‘SuperuSer’ Sushant, has been in superb form off-late. After shipping PokerStars India’s Sunday Special for ₹3.54 Lakhs, the Chennai-based player was back in action in the ReCharge. Sushant captured the title after besting ‘Aishwarya89’ (runner-up for ₹1.33 Lakhs) heads-up and took home a winner’s payday worth ₹2 Lakhs. Sushant currently has ₹3.72 Crores in recorded online earnings, of which almost ₹1 Crore he has earned in 2020.
The ₹5.50 Lakhs GTD Flash too, saw Spartan Poker filling in an overlay of ₹88,000 since the ₹1,100 buy-in tourney could only muster 462 entries. Dhirendra ‘dhiru91’ Kumar topped the field and claimed ₹93,709 in cash prize. A heads-up deal saw ‘Laiibhari’ booking the runner-up seat for ₹89,880.
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s The Bout, featuring a ₹10 Lakhs guarantee, was the big-ticket tournament on offer yesterday. Sporting a ₹2,750 entry buy-in, the event gathered 366 entrants, which resulted in an overlay of ₹85,000. Championing the tourney was Armaan ‘Armaan007’ Kochhar, who banked ₹2.10 Lakhs after outlasting Himanshu ‘pokerbrat7’ Arora (runner-up for ₹1.47 Lakhs) for the title.
A seasoned online reg, Kochhar’s previous title win had come in Spartan Poker’s ₹2 Lakhs GTD Ultimate PLO on July 2. This was a much-needed win for Kochhar, taking his online earnings to ₹1.38 Crores.
A series of ₹2 Lakhs GTD tourneys took place last night on PokerBaazi and ‘Apocalypto’ (Monday MegaStack ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹56,300), Siddharth ‘Siddonuts’ Pandey (IMPS#72 ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹42,000), and ‘siddyfloyd’ (IMPS#71 Daily ₹2 Lakhs GTD for ₹35,520), emerged as the victors.
Adda52
Adda52’s ₹10 Lakhs GTD Inception was the signature Monday event on the site. Still, it wasn’t able to avoid a ₹11,200 deficit despite logging in 309 entries. ‘bulletsbaby’ locked horns with Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma for the top honors, and in the end, it as the former who walked away with the top prize of ₹2.5 Lakhs. Varma had to contend with a second-place payout of ₹1.52 Lakhs.
With this win, the champion has now accumulated ₹8.66 Lakhs worth of recorded earnings on Adda52, with a profit of ₹2.32 Lakhs. Meanwhile, Varma, who had won Spartan Poker’s ₹12 Lakhs GTD TGIF on September 25, boosted his lifetime winnings tally to ₹3.23 Crores and is currently ranked #19 on the annual leaderboard.
The ₹2 Lakhs GTD Quad KO 4-Max on Adda52 also joined the overlay brigade after 131 participants failed to collect the advertised guarantee, leading to a shortfall of ₹21,185. ‘ladypoker20’ shipped the event for ₹56,000.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s ₹5 Lakhs GTD Eliminator Progressive KO attracted 353 entries and successfully surpassed its listed guarantee by ₹30,000. The mystery user ‘Prabhat1028’ shipped the event for ₹1.12 Lakhs, following a heads-up chop with Rohit ‘PillowFight22’ Mishra (runner-up for ₹64,541).
PokerDangal
While the inaugural Dangal Grinder Series (DSG) culminated on September 26, Day 2 of the series’ star attraction, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD DGS Main Event had to be delayed by a few days due to technical issues. The event concluded yesterday with Shivam ‘LALLORONA’ Shukla clinching the title for ₹1.75 Lakhs, just as ‘masterssmaan’ came in second for ₹1.22 Lakhs. This is the second flagship title for Shukla this month. He had won Spartan Poker’s ₹25 Lakhs GTD Grand Ultron on September 3 for a career-best ₹4.70 Lakhs.
