With the weekend just two days away, there was some explosive action at display on the online felts last night. Headlining the list of majors was Spartan Poker’s SSS #23 Ultron ₹25 Lakhs GTD. The event was the Thursday showstopper at the ongoing Spartan Super Series (SSS), and despite registering 603 players (286 unique, 118 re-entries, and 199 rebuys), the event suffered an overlay of ₹88,000. Coming out on top yet again was Young Gun Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover. The Delhiite has been in top form of late. Last month Grover took down two major online titles, one on PokerBaazi and the other on PokerStars India. He took up a podium finish yet again last night after defeating Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma heads-up, adding ₹3.97 Lakhs to his bankroll.
The other big winner on the site was PokerGuru Ambassador Rohit ‘ShippingYard’ Mishra, who was last reported taking down PokerBaazi’s PMVS Mega Value Main Event ₹20 Lakhs GTD on December 8 for ₹3.51 Lakhs. Last night, Mishra championed a 346-entry field (187 unique, 50 re-entries, and 109 rebuys) to win the SSS #25 Hi-Fi ₹8 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.68 Lakhs. Like the Ultron, the event also fell short of meeting its guarantee by a margin of ₹1.08 Lakhs. Incidentally, Mishra also final tabled PokerStars India’s Highroller ₹12 Lakhs GTD last night, finishing sixth for ₹58,729.
While Spartan Poker’s aggressive guarantees led to overlays, PokerBaazi Thursday marquee event The Summit ₹15 Lakhs GTD comfortably cruised past its offered guarantee, generating ₹20.62 Lakhs in the prize pool through 275 entries (141 unique and 134 re-entries). Harsh ‘100crdream’ Kumar was the last player standing in the event and walked away ₹4.55 Lakhs richer!
Adda52’s Godfather ₹20 Lakhs GTD was another big guarantee event that landed in the overlay zone. After pulling in 377 entries (225 unique and 152 re-entries), Adda52 was still forced to fill in a ₹1.15 Lakhs shortfall. Online phenom Kavish ‘narcoss’ Kukreja is another top reg who has been in sublime form this past week. After taking down Spartan Poker’s Sunday SuperStack ₹40 Lakhs GTD on December 8 and PokerBaazi’s The Bout ₹10 Lakhs GTD on December 9, he added a further ₹5 Lakhs to his bankroll after championing The Godfather last night, making him the biggest Thursday winner!
Another notable performer on Thursday was Hitesh ‘hiteshbhai999’ Batra. He juggernaut his way to the top in PokerStars India’s Highroller ₹12 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.70 Lakhs. But that’s not all! He also came close to shipping PokerBaazi’s Thursday MonsterStack ₹5 Lakhs GTD, finishing runner-up to MTT regular Farhaad ‘kilpauk’ Khazvini. The latter banked ₹1.23 Lakhs for his win, while Batra took home ₹86,766 for his runner-up finish.
