Spartan Poker’s brand-new “The Millionaire Series” has really set the pulses racing for the poker community, but there was some mind-blowing action taking place at the other sites as well. Two high roller tourneys across Spartan and PokerStars India, alongside the Thursday staples like the Godfather and The Summit, handed out massive paycheques last night!
Here`s a complete recap of the Thursday tourneys!
Spartan Poker
The Millionaire Series continues to ride high on Spartan Poker, and Thursday saw another three big-ticket tourneys crown champions while the D’Lite began proceedings.
The series’ most expensive buy-in tourney, the ₹50 Lakhs GTD #12 Highroller, opened to action at 10 PM, allowing entry at ₹27,500. A total of 195 runners hit the felts, resulting in a marginal ₹1.25 Lakh overlay shortfall. Standing out from the crowd was Young Gun Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover. The online maestro shook hands on a heads-up deal with the mystery player ‘ephemeral’ (runner-up for ₹9.70 Lakhs) to pocket the day’s biggest payout of ₹10.44 Lakhs.
Grover is ranked #2 on the annual charts and has top-tier Spartan Poker titles like the Destiny and FTS #2 Kickoff under his belt. Last night, he also final-tabled the ₹12 Lakhs GTD Highroller on PokerStars India, finishing fifth for ₹75,131.
With Grover at the top, Young Gun Gaurav ‘mozzie17’ Sood was not far behind and placed fourth in the Highroller for ₹4.44 Lakhs. Sood also went on to champion the ₹4 Lakhs GTD Thursday 6-Max DeepStack on PokerBaazi for ₹1.03 Lakhs, adding over ₹5.45 Lakhs to his burgeoning bankroll.
Young Gun Anuj ‘tittooTauji’ Yadav (5th for ₹3.56 Lakhs), Armaan ‘space ace’ Kochhar (6th for ₹2.79 Lakhs), and Kunal ‘Alex52’ Bhatia (8th for ₹1.55 Lakhs) were the other notable finalists in the Highroller.
In the ₹20 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series #11 Monster Stack, a starting field of 519 entries meant that the ₹4,400 entry buy-in tourney generated a profitable prize pool of ₹20.76 Lakhs. The anonymous player ‘LuciferAA’ made it to the podium and netted a hefty ₹3.68 Lakhs following a heads-up deal with ‘Shankar_Usha’ (runner-up for ₹2.92 Lakhs). MTT specialist Siddhanth ‘PluRibu$’ Kripalani, who championed The Summit last night for ₹3.80 Lakhs, finished third in the Millionaire Series #11 for another ₹1.92 Lakhs, accumulating a neat ₹5.72 Lakhs for the day`s work.
The ₹11 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series #10 logged in 537 entries, booking a sizable ₹2.95 Lakhs overlay loss. The final two contenders agreed to close it out with a deal that saw Paras ‘AAKKQQJJ’ Jain walk away with the title and the top prize of ₹2.01 Lakhs. ‘steak_addict’ placed runner-up for ₹1.49 Lakhs.
Jain has final tabled several tourneys over the past three months but has always fallen short of a clear win. While he finally ended his over two-month-long title drought last night, his online repertoire of MTT scores has crossed ₹1.52 Crores.
Another headline tourney at the series, the D’Lite, got underway yesterday, playing out Day 1A and Day 1B at 3 PM and 9 PM, respectively. The event offers a ₹10 Lakhs prize pool guarantee at a buy-in of only ₹110. Sure enough, Day 1A mustered a massive 1,256 entries, leaving only 99 runners to carry a stack to Day 2. ‘MAAHI MAAREGA’ (267,069) bagged the end of Day 1A chip lead, with Vineet ‘The Mentalist’ Kumar (217,040) and ‘Kharola111’ (213,926) rounding out the top three stacks from the flight.
Day 1B registered an even better 1,329 entries, and 98 players survived the onslaught with ‘SHAA31’ (316,514), ‘Wandoor’ (259,600), and ‘kingissai’ (239,847) bagging the top three stacks of the flight.
‘SHAA31’ came out as the overall chip leader among the 197 Day 2 qualifiers on Thursday. The field has grown 2,585-strong, and there are four more starting flights to the event before all the qualifying stacks converge for Day 2 at 10 PM on Saturday.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s ₹12 Lakhs GTD Highroller was the star attraction on the site on Thursday. The event began 8 minutes late from its scheduled start time of 7.30 PM and pulled in a starting field of 157 entries, overlaying ₹1.01 Lakhs. He chopped the top prize with PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal ‘B00MTilt23’ Singh, who walked away with the largest slice of the prize money worth ₹2.13 Lakhs.
Kumar’s last recorded title victory on PokerStars India dates back to November 20, when he had captured the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut Magic Edition for ₹2.06 Lakhs. This is the first time he has made it to the podium in the site’s Highroller, and it’s also his personal best online score to date, bringing his lifetime winnings to ₹71.13 Lakhs.
