The weekend’s here, and there is a storm brewing with three major online events running simultaneously. Players have a blockbuster weekend to look forward to with Spartan Poker’s GPS, PokerBaazi`s PPL, and the AOPS, all putting out exciting MTT`s. For now, let’s take a look at the highlights from yesterday.
The Grand Poker Series (GPS) is on the home stretch, and heading into the weekend, we saw the ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire flagging off with the first of its four starting flights. Day 1A registered 465 runners who ponied up the 5,500 buy-in and only 28 players advanced to Day 2. The chip leader emerged in the mystery crusher ‘Tonkaaa,’ who bagged a massive 435,761 in chips. ‘mannu2424’ (298,951) and ‘OrangeZuce’ (255,365) advanced with the next top stacks.
The featured tourney of the day was the ₹40 Lakhs GTD GPS#25 The Elite. It registered 429 entries to comfortably stride past the guarantee with a prize pool collection of ₹42.90 Lakhs. The tourney came to a close after a three-way deal that saw ‘AthenaVolt’ winning the title and ₹6.29 Lakhs. ‘ICMplay’ (runner-up for ₹6.13 Lakhs) and ‘$ura13’ (3rd for ₹6.07 Lakhs) pocketed comparable payouts.
The ₹12 Lakhs GTD GPS#24 TGIF was championed by Rishab ‘NoChanc3’ Malik, who pocketed ₹2.75 Lakhs after a heads-up deal with ‘VSXXX’ (runner-up for ₹2 Lakhs). Malik was at his multi-tabling best as he bagged the chip lead on Day 1B of the AOPS Mini Main Event.
The site`s new ₹550 buy-in Velocity ₹10 Lakhs GTD played out its fourth and last starting flight yesterday. The tourney registered an overlay as Day 1D brought in 422 entries, and only 38 survived. ‘loosecannon’ (160,215), ‘neatvat’ (160,074), and ‘MYLO’ (139,628) bagged the top three stacks in the flight.
The PPL August Edition made a smashing opening with the day`s headliner, the ₹20 Lakhs GTD PPL#4 DST 7-Max, registering a guarantee-busting 425 entries. Each of them bought-in for ₹5,500, and the top 54 places got paid. Outlasting them all to win the title, and the ₹4.27 Lakhs up-top prize money was PokerGuru Ambassador Vishal ‘Vishzz’ Bajaj. Sumit ‘TheRussian06’ Bajaj finished runner-up for ₹2.99 Lakhs.
The PPL#6 ₹10 Lakhs GTD was taken down by Akshat ‘takingcuntrol’ Sharma, who collected ₹2.21 Lakhs after edging past online reg Pranay ‘setmeup’ Chawla (2nd for ₹1.55 Lakhs) in heads-up.
Ayush ‘Proman502’ Garg was on a roll as he FT-ed two PPL tourneys yesterday for over ₹3 Lakhs in winnings. The more prominent of the two was the ₹2.10 Lakhs that he won for shipping the ₹10 Lakhs GTD PPL#3 (8-Max). ‘riteshcbec’ finished runner-up for ₹1.47 Lakhs.
Rounding out the big winners on the opening day of the PPL series was Gadadhar ‘gd1921’ Behera. He took down the ₹6 Lakhs GTD PPL#2 PKO for ₹1.41 Lakhs after defeating MTT reg Pratibh ‘pratibhsaluja’ Saluja (2nd for ₹99,060) heads-up.
The second starting flight of the ₹5,500 buy-in ₹1 Crore GTD AOPS Mini Main Event logged in 275 entries, and only 28 survived the day`s onslaught. The GPS TGIF champion Rishab ‘Rish1994’ Malik (304,474) came out ahead here as well, with the 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin ‘kornkif’ Labroo (261,073), and Paawan ‘fullflush24’ Bansal (248,126) carrying forward the next top stacks.
The ₹30 Lakhs GTD AOPS Mini High Roller had to fill in an overlay of ₹2.10 Lakhs on the back of 409 entries. Sajjan ‘haitohhai’ Barnwal, who has been on a rampage since Tuesday, picked up his third AOPS title in the tourney and a personal-best ₹7.44 Lakhs after defeating ‘vinaysk’ (runner-up for ₹4.50 Lakhs) heads-up.
With all the other major platforms running marquee events, PokerStars India hosted its Friday flagship ₹12 Lakhs GTD Uppercut Magic Edition. The event saw 280 entries pony up the ₹4,400 buy-in that translated into an overlay of ₹80,000. MTT pro Sreekanth ‘LaganaHiToHai’ Narayan ran over the field to win the title and ₹2.18 Lakhs. He had finished runner-up in Thursday’s AOPS Big Game on Adda52, and this win has taken his online record over ₹2 Crores! Seasoned reg Rajat ‘sharabikebabi’ Sharma finished runner-up for ₹1.38 Lakhs.
The ₹5 Lakhs GTD Friday Euphoria featuring a buy-in of ₹2,750 clocked in 168 entrants – registering an overlay of ₹80,000. Ankur ‘Flopzila’ Agarwal was the last player standing in the tourney and won ₹96,018 after defeating ‘SaiDuece3894’ (runner-up for ₹70,936) heads-up.
Two players deserving of special mention are Ayush Garg and PokerGuru Ambassador Jayjit Ray. Garg won PPL #3 for ₹2.10 Lakhs while Ray took down PPL#5 6-Max 2 Lakhs GTD for ₹66,491. Both players FT-ed the ₹10 Lakhs GTD PPL#6, where Garg finished third for ₹99,700, and Ray placed fourth for ₹73,800.

The ₹1 Crore GTD GPS – The Millionaire hit the ground running at 6 PM yesterday with the first of its four starting flights. Day 1A gathered 465 entries, and by the time the play concluded at 10:46 PM, only 28 runners still had chips with them.
Site regular ‘Tonkaaa’ bagged the most massive stack of 435,761, while ‘mannu2424’ (298,951) and ‘OrangeZuce’ (255,365) were placed a distant second and third in stacks.
Avinit ‘pushnpray17’ Bagri (221,625), Amit ‘Immortal Killer’ Sur (205,422), Young Gun Devang’equity_hunter’ Yadav (199,822), Bhanu ‘spectre’ Prakash (182,570), and Sandeep ‘effuno’ Varma (182,540) featured among the top 10 stacks of the day.

The ₹5,500 buy-in ₹1 Crore GTD AOPS Mini Main Event played out its second starting flight yesterday. Day 1B brought in 275 entries, expanding the field size to 535 entries after the two flights.
Only 28 players could bag chips for Day 2 with Rishab ‘Rish1994’ Malik (304,474) emerging as the end of the day chip leader. The 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin ‘kornkif’ Labroo (261,073), and Paawan ‘fullflush24’ Bansal (248,126) rounded out the top three stacks on Day 1B.

The biggest buy-in tourney on the Friday schedule, Spartan Poker’s ₹40 Lakhs GTD GPS#25 The Elite,crushed its guarantee on the back of 429 entries. The ₹42.90 Lakhs prize pool was distributed among the top 39 finishers.
Mystery user ‘AthenaVolt’ charged ahead of the competition to win ₹6.29 Lakhs after a three-way deal. ‘ICMplay’ (runner-up for ₹6.13 Lakhs) and ‘$ura13’ (3rd for ₹6.07 Lakhs) were others who won significant payouts.
This was a much-needed victory for the champion ‘AthenaVolt’ who presently has ₹11 Lakhs in MTT winnings on Spartan Poker, but is still in the red for₹14.52 Lakhs.

Sporting a buy-in of ₹7,500, the AOPS Mini High Roller fell ₹2.1 Lakhs short on its advertised ₹30 Lakhs GTD. Traversing the reg-laden field was Sajjan ‘haitohhai’ Barnwal, who earned a career-best ₹7.44 Lakhs after defeating ‘vinaysk’ (runner-up for ₹4.50 Lakhs) heads-up.
Barnwal was in impeccable form yesterday as he conquered three AOPS titles to add to his list of achievements. He started the day by winning AOPS Under The Gun for ₹51,200 and followed that by taking down the AOPS Afterparty for ₹56,177. Finally, he took down this event, Barnwal now sits with four AOPS titles as he had won the AOPS Brunch on June 27 for ₹86,867. This Wednesday, he took down Afterdark Adda for ₹40,112 while placing second in Hitman for ₹1.44 Lakhs. His blistering Friday run has catapulted his lifetime online tally over the ₹1 Crore-mark.

He finally got to the finish line in the Uppercut to win ₹2.18 Lakhs after wading off the formidable Rajat ‘sharabikebabi’ Sharma (2nd for ₹1.38 Lakhs). With this score, Narayan’s cache of online winnings has reached ₹2.02 Crore.

The last and final flight of Spartan Poker’s new multi-flight tournament, Velocity ₹10 Lakhs GTD, rancourse yesterday.
Day 1D attracted 422 entries, and only 38 players made it across to Day 2. Topping the survivor’s list was ‘loosecannon’ who holds a stack of 160,215, with ‘neatvat’ (160,074) and ‘MYLO’ (139,628) rounding out the top three stacks.
Adding the 1,287 entries (Day 1A – 479, Day 1B – 384, Day 1C – 424) from the three other flights, the event logged in a total 1,709 entries. Essentially, this means that the tourney suffered an overlay of₹1.45 Lakhs.
There will be 145 players (Day 1A – 38, Day 1B – 33, Day 1C – 36, Day 1D – 38) who will be starting play on Day 2 at 7 PM tonight. With only 143 places paid, two of them will return empty-handed. A min-cash is worth ₹1,860, and the winner stands to collect₹1.84 Lakhs.
