The mid-week marquee events did quite well last night in terms of turnouts. After 11 editions, Spartan Poker’s signature Wednesday major – Destiny has come back for another smashing edition. The first event of the weekly series – Destiny 12.0 ₹25 Lakhs GTD played out yesterday. As always, the event once again strode past its advertised guarantee to generate a ₹29.85 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 454 entries (114 unique, 139 re-entries and 201 rebuys). Capturing the title was known circuit reg Chirag ‘chilling’ Sodha, who defeated Rajat ‘GarammasaIa’ Sharma heads-up to get his hands on the ₹7.76 Lakhs up top.
Sodha has been in spectacular form of late on both live and online felts. Only last month, he had final tabled the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) ₹50K Main Event, where he had finished fifth for ₹12.28 Lakhs. As far as the virtual felts are concerned, Sodha had a stellar run on June 9 when he took down both, PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack ₹25 Lakhs GTD (₹5.04 Lakhs) and PokerStars India’s Sunday Special – Progressive KO ₹15 Lakhs GTD (₹2.91 Lakhs). He had also championed Spartan Poker’s SSS #41 Electric Big Daddy ₹6 Lakhs GTD (₹1.22 Lakhs) last month.
With the competition heating up, PokerBaazi has come out with a brand-new tournament offering explicitly tailored for a Wednesday run. The first of these events – G.O.A. ₹20 Lakhs GTD debuted on the site yesterday. The event drew 447 entries (204 unique and 223 re-entries) and garnered a healthy ₹21.35 Lakhs prize pool. In the final showdown, Tuesday’s The Endeavour ₹15 Lakhs GTD runner-up, ‘comeon’ defeated ‘AceRag’ heads-up to lay claim on the top prize of ₹3.89 Lakhs. While the runner-up finish fetched ‘AceRag’ ₹2.82 Lakhs, both players have also secured a spot in the 8-Max SnG ₹4 Lakhs GTD that will be hosted live in Goa on the first Saturday of December. The SnG winner stands to walk away with ₹2.5 Lakhs while the runner-up will pocket ₹1.5 Lakhs.
Headlining the ongoing Grinder Series on the site last night was the Grinders #14 6-Max Wednesday SuperStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD. As expected, the event overshot its guarantee, accruing a ₹4.36 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 218 entries (127 unique and 91 re-entries). Akhilesh ‘Aone1’ Singh took the event down for ₹1.02 Lakhs.
Not to be outdone, Adda52’s signature Wednesday tournament, Maverick ₹10 Lakhs GTD, pulled in 459 entries (249 unique and 210 re-entries), generating a prize pool of ₹10.44 Lakhs. Nikhil ‘billZ’ Arora decimated the competition to lay claim on the ₹2.55 Lakhs top prize.
Moving over to PokerStars India, both the big guarantee events last night, the Night on Stars ₹5 Lakhs GTD and the Progressive KO 4-Max ₹2 Lakhs GTD were successful in meeting their respective guarantees. ‘gaur83’ took down the Night on Stars for ₹1.11 Lakhs while ‘IPPA@PS’ agreed to a heads-up chop with ‘drogonaces7’ (runner-up for ₹28,554) before shipping the Progressive KO 4-Max for ₹51,860.
On 9stacks, the StackUp@ 8PM ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in ‘Dhappa’ who padded his bankroll by ₹67,470. The unchallenged run for the event was broken last night as the prize collection fell short of the advertised guarantee by a marginal ₹4,000.
Poker Dangal’s Wow Wednesday ₹75K GTD suffered a more significant overlay. The event could garner only 168 entries (114 unique and 54 rebuys) and fell short by ₹24,600 in meeting its guarantee. ‘Aki8888’ emerged the winner and took away ₹18,000.
