Monday’s are always the slowest day of the week for online poker, but yesterday was slightly more invigorating with a few flagships either surpassing their guarantees or overlaying only marginally. With the IOPC January 2021 Edition and the APT 2021 Online Series India only a few days out, the action on the online felts is sure to pick up steam as the week progresses.

Spartan Poker

Spartan Poker’s Monday staple tourney, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD ReCharge, registered 520 entries to surpass its advertised guarantee by ₹40,000. Debayan ‘MonsterD’ Das clinched the title for ₹1.77 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with Sanket ‘BANK$Y’ Arora (runner-up for ₹1.53 Lakhs). Das also final tabled Adda52’s Voyager, finishing fourth for ₹21,250, raking in ₹1.98 Lakhs overall.

Spartan Poker’s ₹5 Lakhs GTD The Flash logged in 575 entries, posting a prize pool worth ₹5.75 Lakhs. After nearly seven hours of play, Taliwabang ‘Medusa777’ Jamir defeated Vivek ‘acchemicals’ Karwa (runner-up for ₹71,629) in second-place to win ₹80,392. The tourney played down to a four-way deal with Devashish ‘KABIR13’ Jain (3rd for ₹62,864) and ‘Aquib17’ (4th for ₹58,850), banking the other top payouts. Jamir now has ₹9.27 Lakhs in recorded winnings on Spartan Poker.

The ₹5 Lakhs GTD Battle Royal ran from 7:30 PM to 12:58 AM, gathering 174 entries that led to a deficit of ₹65,000. PokerStars India regular ‘rkcravi’ championed the event for ₹1.13 Lakhs (₹57,068 in prize money, ₹56,186 in bounties), after outlasting the “Star of the Month” – January Week #2 topper Anirban ‘nocluewho’ Das in the heads-up finale. The latter walked away with a runner-up payout worth ₹51,291 (₹42,580 in prize money, ₹8,711 in bounties).

Das has been a consistent performer since the start of the year, and yesterday too, he picked up multiple FT scores. Besides his runner-up finish in Battle Royale, he also ran deep in PokerBaazi’s Monday MonsterStack (4th for ₹18,780) and PokerStars India’s BigStack Turbo (7th for ₹3,222). His total winnings for the night stood at ₹73,293, pushing his January tally over ₹15 Lakhs.

The ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo was the second tourney on Monday, awarding TLB points for PokerStars India’s ‘Star of the Month’ – January leaderboard race.

Abhishek ‘abhiaum’ Chhajer topped a field of 79 entries to bank the winner’s paycheque of ₹28,032. Site regular ‘Guddu_Ki_Gun’ came in second for ₹13,617. The event witnessed an overlay of ₹21,000, and the top 13 places received payouts.

Adda52’s ₹8 Lakhs GTD Iron Man pulled in 379 entries, overlaying ₹1.10 Lakhs. It took a little over six hours of non-stop play before Chandan ‘cddas’ Das navigated his way to the top to win ₹2 Lakhs. Attman Pradipbhai ‘att1992’ Velani finished runner-up for ₹1.21 Lakhs. With this score, Das now has ₹23.74 Lakhs in recorded online earnings.

The ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD Voyager wrangled in 245 entries, registering a negligible

₹5,000 overlay. Rishabh ‘Rishh14’ Jain was the last player standing, and he took home ₹65,000 in first-place prize money. Former PokerStars India’s UFC KO Series 50-Main Event champion Niteen ‘niteenplus’ Raj came in second for ₹38,750. Lakhs.

PokerBaazi

Headlining PokerBaazi’s Monday schedule was the ₹8 Lakhs GTD The Big Show. The ₹3,300 entry buy-in tourney garnered 220 participants, resulting in a shortfall of ₹1.40 Lakhs. Vinay ‘Vinstill’ Bk championed the tourney, eliminating Anmol ‘airball’ Narang (runner-up for ₹1.32 Lakhs) in second-place to win ₹1.88 Lakhs. What made the victory special for Vinay was he did it while live-streaming his session. This happens to be Vinay’s first flagship title of 2021, and he currently sits on ₹2.54 Crores in online winnings.

PokerBaazi’s 9 PM Special ₹2 Lakhs GTD Monday MonsterStack logged in 111 entrants, overlaying ₹33,500. The mystery user ‘dilbaghsingh’ shipped the event for ₹56,300, while ‘Raistat’ finished runner-up for ₹39,420.

It took Debayan ‘MonsterD’ Das a little under eight hours to pick up the title and the top prize of ₹1.77 Lakhs. Das chopped the top prize with Spartan Poker reg Sanket ‘BANK$Y’ Arora (runner-up for ₹1.53 Lakhs) before taking down the title.

Priyank ‘Piko’ Kothari (3rd for ₹96,512), Armaan ‘space ace’ Kochhar (4th for ₹78,104), Mayank ‘jmdjmd’ Shekhar (5th for ₹61,568) and Kapil ‘042-237-575-86’ Arora (6th for ₹47,008) were the other notable FT finishers.
