Thursday marked the onset of the 18-day-long run of the ₹43+ Crores GTD 14th edition of the IOPC on Spartan Poker (and other partner sites), and eight players bagged IOPC titles. Given the opening day`s guarantee-crushing turnouts, we might have another record-breaking series on our hands. Running alongside were three PokerBaazi Classics tournaments.
Most of the day’s biggest guaranteed tournaments came from the IOPC stable, and Spartan Poker reg Kiran Ainala won the top draw, IOPC #5 Thursday Prime, for a site-best ₹7.62 Lakhs. A heads-up deal saw last week`s (7-Max) SPRINT champion Parag Shah banking a career-best ₹6.48 Lakhs in second place (won ₹6.81 Lakhs overall), storming to #2 in the ₹1.50 Crores IOPC leaderboard standings.
The 37-year-old CA from Bhavnagar, Dhruvin Kothari, a former IOPC Millionaire Legends and Super High Roller winner, championed Spartan Poker’s IOPC #6 Thursday High for ₹8.75 Lakhs, bagging away IOPC title #5 and the #5 position on the IOPC Leaderboard. He chopped the title three-way with ‘KAKAROT98$’ (2nd for ₹7.12 Lakhs), and the #2 ranked player in the 2023 POY race Himanshu Arora (3rd for ₹5.40 Lakhs).
Upcoming poker pro Gopal Bajaj nailed Spartan Poker’s IOPC #7 Thursday Spotlight for ₹3.67 Lakhs, picking up his 10th career IOPC title. He chopped the 9:30 PM IOPC marquee heads-up with Kovid Saraswat (2nd for ₹3.43 Lakhs).
The current IOPC leaderboard topper Siddharth Sudhir (Won IOPC #1 Launch Party for a career-best ₹2.73 Lakhs), Young Gun Ujjwal Narwal (Won IOPC #4 Monster Stack for ₹2.15 Lakhs), Snehil Aggarwal (Won IOPC #2 for ₹2.09 Lakhs), Vikas Yadav (Won IOPC #8 All Rounder Deepstack for a site-best ₹2.04 Lakhs) and Abhishek Sonu (Won IOPC #3 for ₹1.06 Lakhs) won the other IOPC titles on Thursday.
