With the BPT March 2022 edition in the rear-view mirror, the poker heavyweights have all returned to the virtual felts with gusto. And sitting on top of the list of Friday champions was a name that we have become very used to seeing in our ‘Daily Majors’ and ‘Sunday Online Railbird Reports.’ We are talking about none other than Young Gun Gaurav Sood.
With the poker phenom`s wedding just around the corner, we honestly thought we wouldn’t be seeing much of him on the felts for a few months. But not only did Sood clinch his first live title less than a week ago in the BPT Kickoff in Goa, but he is back to his dominating form on the online felts. Last night, he picked up his third title of the year in PokerStars India’s Super Highroller and finished runner-up in Spartan Poker’s The Elite for the fifth time, collectively banking ₹6.13 Lakhs. His Friday performance has made him the first player to enter the ‘₹12 Crores Club!’
Last year, Manish Lakhotia gave Sood a tough fight over the #1 position on the annual leaderboard. The Siliguri-based pro seems to be returning to his previous form as he took down Spartan Poker`s The Elite for ₹5.46 Lakhs yesterday. He took home ₹5.49 Lakhs in overall winnings, becoming the ninth player to cross the ‘₹1 Crore’ mark in yearly winnings.
Another well-known MTT pro Kunal Patni was the last player standing in Adda52’s The Ballers. He pocketed ₹4.37 Lakhs after striking a heads-up deal with the 2021 WPT Online India Main Event champion Kushal Sogani (2nd for ₹4.08 Lakhs).
WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant is in breakout form. He may have missed claiming the BPT Main Event title, but he has been wreaking havoc on the virtual felts, claiming back-to-back titles these last two days. After winning Adda52’s The Godfather on Thursday, the former PokerGuru Team Pro shipped PokerBaazi’s The Weekly Highroller last night for ₹4.04 Lakhs.
Rishi Mundhra, Karan Malhotra, Rajneesh Thakur, Ringphamatai Ningshen, Chanti Nayak, Arbaaz Ahmed, Partho Datta, Achal Sonale, Abhishek Mandal, Jimmy Arora, and Ashish Pareek, won the other Friday marquees.
Here are the Friday highlights!
