After three weeks of choc-a-bloc action, online MTT players can finally take a breather! Two headline stops, Spartan Poker’s IOPC June 2022 and PokerBaazi’s 1100 THC, got over on Sunday, bringing back the calm we see after a storm has passed.
And making the Monday grind even more subdued was the absence of the PokerBaazi flagships, as the site canceled most of its evening tournaments because of scheduled server maintenance. With most regs taking the Monday off, we saw the recreational players grabbing the spotlight for a change.
While the high-powered MTTs might have been put on the backburner, the low to mid-stakes MTT players have the perfect opportunity to shine with Pocket52 rolling out its popular Pocket Player Championship (PPC) yesterday. The week-long series is making its fourth run on the P52 network (includes Gamezy and Nostra Poker) and has over ₹1.30 Crores in prize pool guarantees spread across 50 high-value tournaments and a ₹5 Lakhs GTD Leaderboard race to chase.
Bagging the single-largest score on Monday was Spartan Poker user ‘Rids1,’ who won the site`s ReCharge for ₹1.75 Lakhs. Site reg Manish Ranjan finished runner-up for ₹1.17 Lakhs.
Himanshu Kataria was another standout winner with two deep runs and ₹1.68 Lakhs in total winnings. The former The Mint champion won another Adda52 flagship, Iron Man, for ₹1.43 Lakhs after striking a three-way deal with Abhishek Mandal (2nd for ₹1.40 Lakhs) and Utkarsh Somaaieyaa (3rd for ₹1.26 Lakhs). Kataria also FTed the Battle Royale on PokerStars India (4th for ₹24,731).
Tanay Parekh made an impressive two FT finishes (both third place) in the ReCharge and Battle Royale, rounding up over ₹1.18 Lakhs in Monday winnings.
The user ‘84##.757##_1424’ won the Day 1 flagship in Pocket52’s PPC – PPC #4 Pocket Queens – for ₹95,500, with ‘Jester’ placing second for ₹70,000.
Even though PokerBaazi was on scheduled maintenance in the evening, Shivankar Bahl captured the daytime headliner, Afternoon Boost, for ₹68,240.
PokerStars India’s ‘killeerbeee’ won the Battle Royale (8-Max) for ₹88,948, with ‘rkcravi’ collecting ₹65,901 in second place.
Anmolraj Singh Chawla took down PokerStars India`s Deepstack for the second time yesterday for ₹45,055.
Ankit Singh, Zafar Ahmed, Naresh Kumar, Mohit Kumar Singh, Vishwas Khanna, Shiv Chugh, Rahul Sengar, and Parag Shah won the other marquee tournaments.
