For lovers of spook, horror, and gore, today is coincidentally Friday the 13th. However, the virtual felts showed a very different picture headlined by the sizzling WPT Super High Roller action on Adda52, alongside the other Thursday flagships running across the various poker platforms.
Here`s a complete recap of the day`s highlights.
Spartan Poker
The biggest draw on Spartan Poker was the ₹4,400 entry buy-in ₹18 Lakhs GTD Ultron. The action took off at 8 PM, and the tourney fared better than its last week’s run as 467 entries (216 unique players, 87 re-entries, and 164 re-entries) ensured a guarantee-smashing ₹18.68 Lakhs collection. It came down to a heads-up showdown between Kanav ‘SneakyBlinders’ Parwal and Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani. Parwal, a former PPL Endeavour, and Full House champion, struck a heads-up deal with Mahboobani before taking down the tourney for ₹3.23 Lakhs, boosting his lifetime winnings to ₹1.70 Crores.
Mahboobani, a member of the “₹6 Crore-Club” placed runner-up for ₹3 Lakhs.
The #3 ranked player on the annual leaderboard, Srihari ‘bangbang99’ Bang (3rd for ₹1.82 Lakhs), Mayank ‘desithung007’ Gupta (4th for ₹1.47 Lakhs), ‘shadow12’ (5th for ₹1.15 Lakhs), bracelet winner Aditya ‘SuperuSer’ Sushant (7th for ₹64,072), Mohit ‘TheGhostArmy’ Kankaria (8th for ₹47,073) and Dhiraj ‘supernuts’ Lakhotia (9th for ₹39,041) were others who FT-ed the Ultron.
Aditya Sushant also placed third in PokerBaazi’s ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit for ₹1.68 Lakhs.
Kanchan Sharma is another name that features among the standout winners of Thursday. Sharma made two top finishes that included besting the 437-entry field that came in to play the ₹7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack for ₹1.48 Lakhs. She also made a close run to the title in PokerBaazi’s ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit, placing runner-up for ₹2.61 Lakhs, earning well over 4 Lakhs in a day’s work. The fiery Young Gun has risen remarkably fast up the ranks and currently boasts over ₹1.56 Crores in recorded earnings.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s Thursday prime time tourney, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut [6-Max] MAGIC Edition, brought in 229 hopefuls. With each of them ponying up ₹4,400 to enter, the tourney ended up filling in an overlay of ₹84,000. Racing ahead of the rest was the mystery player ‘Sahni1509,’ who pocketed ₹1.71 Lakhs after defeating ‘kaushik010288’ (runner-up for ₹96,280) in the heads-up play.
The final 41 players earned a share of the spoils, and this included Vinayak ‘koi.toh.rok.lo’ Bajaj (4th for ₹47,695) and Sandy ‘Ziigmunddd’ Lamba (6th for ₹28,007).
The ₹2 Lakhs GTD The Classic PKO was championed by ‘newbie884,’ who topped the 132 entrants to win ₹42,788.
Adda52
It was an action-packed Thursday on Adda52 with as many as nine WPT Online India tourneys (including two WPT Trophy events) playing out on the site.
The day’s showstopper was the ₹65 Lakhs GTD WPT India Super High Roller that took off at 9 PM. By the time the late registrations got over, the tourney had registered 137 entries (92 unique players and 45 re-entries), enough to blow the prize pool guarantee to smithereens with a total collection of ₹71.76 Lakhs.
Siddhanth ‘Sidstack’ Kripalani, a former Game Changer champion, and two-time Destiny champion, added a WPT Trophy to his list of achievements after topping the event for an impressive ₹19.39 Lakhs. While Kripalani’s Game Changer score of ₹40.02 Lakhs remains his career-best finish, this WPT victory takes second place. The seven-figure score has extended Kripalani`s online record over ₹2 Crores, at the same time, improving his total profits to ₹1 Crore.
The former Godfather champion, Tarun ‘aggtarun’ Goyal, finished whiskers short of the title to claim a runner-up score of ₹12.20 Lakhs, pushing his lifetime winnings to ₹1.17 Crores.
The WPT Wednesday Feature champion Jasven ‘bajateraho’ Saigal (3rd for ₹8,97,008), Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra (5th for ₹5,02,324), and Siddarth ‘badtameez_donk’ Singhvi (6th for ₹3,58,803) FT-ed the tourney!
In the other WPT Trophy event, the ₹30 Lakhs GTD WPT Thursday Feature, 647 signups helped generate a guarantee-smashing ₹32.35 Lakhs prize pool. Starting at 8 PM, the ₹5,500 entry buy-in tourney turned out to be a long drawn affair and went on till well beyond 6 AM today. Once the dust settled, it was the popular Young Gun Siddharth ‘skaria1’ Karia who came out on top of Ashish ‘goodpoker68’ Garg in heads-up play to win his first WPT Trophy and the fat pay cheque of ₹8.08 Lakhs. Garg collected ₹4.69 Lakhs to take his lifetime winnings over ₹72.05 Lakhs.
NOTE: Since Karia has opted out of our tracking, we do not have his online stats.
Eshan ‘eshankapoor’ Kapoor (3rd for ₹3.17 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘Pegasus1505’ Ved (4th for ₹2.26 Lakhs), Ashumi ‘Ashumi’ Parakh (5th for ₹1.62 Lakhs) and Avadh ‘cateyes’ Shah (6th for ₹1.13 Lakhs) were the other prominent FT finishers in the WPT Thursday Feature.
The ₹25 Lakhs GTD WPT India Mini ME features seven starting flights, and the event ran Day 1B last night. The starting field of 373 entries (218 unique and 155 re-entries) was cut down to 39 players after the stipulated 29 levels of play. The anonymous player ‘xznny112’ (428,141) came out on top as the end of day chip leader, with Rahul ‘rahul615’ Thakur (373,368) and Haider ‘Donktown22’ Madraswala (307,025) rounding out the top three stacks of the day.
Day 1B witnessed a slight dip in attendance from the previous day that had recorded 419 players.
One of the three daily tourneys on the WPTOI schedule, the ₹5 Lakhs GTD WPT Classic, has been consistently falling short of its guarantee. Yesterday again, a turnout of 307 entries resulted in a glaring ₹80,945 shortfall. After more than six hours of play, Bollywood actor and poker player Siddhanth ‘bullzeyepower’ Kapoor championed the tourney to win his first-ever WPT title for ₹1.25 Lakhs. The mystery player ‘bulletsbaby’ picked up a runner-up finish worth ₹75,750.
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s 8 PM Thursday flagship, the ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit, recorded 181 entries (113 unique players and 68 re-entries), overlaying a significant ₹1.42 Lakhs. It took a little under seven hours of play for the PokerBaazi Team Pro Abhishek ‘AbhishekRathod’ Rathod to navigate his way to the top to win the title, and a hefty ₹3.73 Lakhs. This is the first title for Rathod in over five months, and the prominent poker coach had only last week final tabled the WPT India Mini Highroller – placing fourth for ₹2.73 Lakhs.
On Thursday, he also placed ninth in the Spartan Poker-hosted 7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack for ₹18,267.
The Summit runner-up finisher was none other than Young Gun Kanchan Sharma, who had to settle for ₹2.61 Lakhs. This was a close finish for Sharma, who was chasing a second flagship title after winning the ₹7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack on Spartan Poker for ₹1.47 Lakhs.
Bracelet winner Aditya ‘gangajal’ Sushant (3rd for ₹1.68 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘thepokeraja’ Mahesh (4th for ₹1.25 Lakhs), Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia (5th for ₹93,450) and PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit ‘d00mtr00p3r’ Wadhawan (7th for ₹62,100) FT-ed The Summit.
