While ₹1 Crore GTD tourneys are generally reserved for Sundays, Friday brought a rare sight with Spartan Poker running not one – but two ₹1 Crore GTD events!
IPC`s Final Table Series (FTS) has indeed been a revelation. Even outside the massive guarantees, the world-class streaming of the featured events at the FTS has been an entertaining spectacle for the poker community. Friday set the pace for an action-packed weekend with the FT of the ₹1 Crore GTD FTS#8 Big Game racing to find a winner. Starting a few hours later was the ₹1 Crore GTD FTS#11 Highroller.
There was more than enough action at the other online platforms as well. The WPT Online India (WPTOI) series on Adda52 had an impressive lineup of flagships running while PokerStars India and PokerBaazi hosted their weekly Highroller tournies.
Let’s take a quick look at yesterday`s highlights.
Spartan Poker
There was a significant rail watching the cards-up FT live-stream of the ₹1 Crore GTD FTS#8 Big Game. Dhirendra ‘dhiru91’ Kumar earned his day under the spotlights as he outplayed the start of the FT chip leader Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved heads-up to grab the mammoth ₹19.50 Lakhs cash prize. In addition to the champion`s medallion and a gift hamper from Spartan Poker, Kumar also crossed the benchmark ₹1-Crore in recorded earnings with the win. Ved banked a seven-figure score worth ₹12.40 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
Just as the FTS#8 Big Game was winding up, the ₹1 Crore GTD FTS#11 Highroller fired up the engines. Starting at 8 PM, the ₹80,000 entry buy-in tourney brought together 156 entrants (93 unique players, 35 re-entries, and 28 re-buys) and played down till the six-handed FT was formed. Bagging the overnight chip lead was Rajesh ‘RULS’ Singh (2,206,826), and he has some fierce competition breathing down on him. MTT crushers Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal (1,490,774) and Aditya ‘SuperuSer’ Sushant (1,322,962) round out the top three stacks of the day. Seasoned pros like Sajal Gupta (1,125,250), Jagdeep Singh (1,089,616) & PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul Raj (564,572) bring up the rear on the star-studded FT lineup. The FT resumes at 6 PM today, with the cards-up FT live-stream starting soon after. You can watch the live-stream on the social media channels of PokerGuru.
The other FTS tourney, the ₹30 Lakhs GTD FTS#12, commenced at 10 PM and went on for over eight and a half hours before PokerGuru Ambassador Naresh ‘FreeFlow’ Veeravalli cut his way through the guarantee-smashing 611-entry field to win ₹4.97 Lakhs. He struck a heads-up deal with Young Gun Siddharth ‘schemer77’ Karia, who collected an equally impressive ₹4.66 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
Young Gun Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover is just unstoppable at the moment! He added another title to his glittering resume by taking down the ₹10 Lakhs GTD FTS#10 last night. He made his way through 534 entrants to pick-up ₹1.60 Lakhs for the win, following a three-way deal with ‘mainhunfish’ (runner-up for ₹1.52 Lakhs) and Shashank ‘Goldfish097’ Shekhar (3rd for ₹1.21 Lakhs).
Grover FT-ed at least two other tourneys on Friday, finishing sixth in the WPT India High Roller for ₹2.86 Lakhs and seventh in PokerStars India`s Battle Royale for ₹14,556.
PokerStars India
The Friday mainstay on PokerStars India, the ₹12 Lakhs GTD Highroller, brought in 143 entries who ponied up the ₹7,700 entry buy-in to leave an overlay of ₹1.99 Lakhs, and the top 23 places walked past the money line.
