If it was the GPS High Roller last week, this Thursday was dominated by the INCOOP Super Highroller on PokerStars India running alongside other flagships like the Godfather and the Ultron. For mid and low-stakes players, the ongoing UVS on Spartan Poker provided enough action.
Let’s quickly recap the Thursday headlines.
Spartan Poker
The day`s biggest draw on Spartan Poker was the Ultron. The tournament had a ₹25 Lakhs guarantee last week but returned with a reduced ₹18 Lakhs guarantee last night. The decision was wise as a turnout of 522 entries helped collect a healthy ₹20.88 Lakhs prize pool. There were several talented players on the final table but outlasting them all was the anonymous player ‘crockroax021,’ who won ₹3.82 Lakhs following a heads-up deal with ‘H0PE’ (runner-up for ₹2.83 Lakh). With the win, the champion has boosted their earnings on Spartan Poker to ₹16.27 Lakhs.
Others who made it to the FT included Young Gun Shardul ‘Faucet Failure’ Parthasarathi (3rd for ₹1.94 Lakhs), Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal (4th for ₹1.57 Lakhs), the Godfather champion Dhirendra ‘dhiru91’ Kumar (5th for ₹1.24 Lakhs), Rohan ‘Redington’ Soman (6th for ₹94,378), and Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia (8th for ₹50,947).
In the ₹7.5 Lakhs Monster Stack, Wednesday’s INCOOP-146 Night on Stars champion Amar ‘PsykoEko’ B. Iyer outlasted 432 entries to eventually clash with ‘Stalin_spartan’ heads-up for the title. The duo finally decided upon a deal that saw ‘Stalin_spartan’ claim the title and ₹1.52 lakhs, with Iyer conceding to a runner-up finish for ₹1.35 Lakhs.
Headlining the UVS schedule was the ₹4.5 Lakhs GTD UVS #18, where ‘W@rCry’ topped a 452-entry field to win ₹65,070 after striking a three-way deal with ‘Ottomanrebels’ (2nd for ₹60,509) and ‘arcadiaaa’ (3rd for ₹59,595).
PokerBaazi
It’s winding down to a weekend that promises to be a thrilling one for PokerBaazi players. Yes, we refer to the ₹2 Crores GTD Game Changer that played out its second starting flight yesterday. The ₹5,500 buy-in tourney had a good start on Wednesday with Day 1A pulling in 855 entries. Day 1B brought in another 814 entries (547 unique and 267 re-entries), expanding the field to 1,669 entries.
Only 83 players survived the day’s onslaught, and bagging the most massive stack among the survivors was PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh ‘boomtlt23’ Pal Singh (532,000). Following Singh was ‘5pranay’ (453,000), former WPT Main Event champion Vikash ‘Mantvik’ Mantri (357,000), and PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘rocky3705’ Ahuja (344,000).
Counting the 97 survivors from Day 1A, 180 players have assured themselves a seat for the Day 2 finale on Sunday.
Adda52
Not one to be left behind, Adda52 ran its Thursday flagship Godfather with a generous ₹30 Lakhs prize pool guarantee. The tournament drew 576 entries to experience a manageable ₹1.20 Lakhs shortfall. The event turned out to be a long-drawn affair with the heads-up play coming to an end in the wee hours of Friday morning. Dhirendra ‘Dhiru006’ Kumar was on a rampage last night as he ran through a fiercely competitive FT to capture the title for ₹7.05 Lakhs. This is Kumar’s best-recorded online score to date and his first time winning a flagship title. In fact, he had come whiskers close to winning the Godfather only two weeks ago on September 3, placing runner-up for ₹4.11 Lakhs.
Kumar also final tabled the Ultron on Spartan Poker, where he finished fifth for ₹1.24 Lakhs, earning ₹8.29 Lakhs on Thursday.
Kumar`s heads-up opponent in the Godfather was the former IOPC Millionaire champion Srihari ‘zombieballs’ Bang, currently ranked #3 on the annual leaderboard. A runner-up payout of ₹4.11 Lakhs has brought him closer to the #2 ranked Arsh Grover.
Sam ‘lokimon’ Anand (3rd for ₹2.73 Lakhs), Ritwik ‘ritwik27’ Khanna (5th for ₹1.50 Lakhs), Naresh ‘fireexit’ Rathnam (7th for ₹82,500), and Deepak ‘bothras’ Bothra (8th for ₹60,000) were the other prominent FT finishers in the Godfather.
