Daily Majors: Kwatra, Ahuja, Sharma & Pereira Slay the Wednesday Flagships

There was a noticeable uptick in action on Wednesday, with the guarantees increasing sharply across the major platforms. PokerDangal’s four-day-long Dangal Grinders Series commenced its inaugural run yesterday, and there`s Spartan Poker`s Freezeout Master Series (FMS) that’s starting today, promising exciting action through the weekend.

Here’s a quick recap of the biggest winners from yesterday.

 

Spartan Poker

Spartan Poker’s signature Wednesday tourney, the ₹25 Lakhs GTD Destiny, logged in 490 entries yesterday, overlaying ₹50,000. After a little over eight hours of play, ‘Midge Maisel’ came out on top to win their best-recorded score on Spartan Poker worth ₹6.63 Lakhs along with a seat in the Destiny 16.0 SnG Finale. The former AOPS Mini ME winner Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra finished runner-up for ₹4.08 Lakhs.

With ₹1.92 Crores in recorded earnings this year, Kwatra is getting closer to breaking into the top 20 on the annual leaderboard and currently boasts of ₹3.67 Crores in lifetime winnings.

The other big-ticket tourneys were taken down by ‘arcadiaaa’ (Night Rider – Monster Stack for ₹58,543) and ‘sam059424’ (Monster Stack for ₹49,748).

 

PokerBaazi

Gracing the Wednesday schedule on PokerBaazi was the ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Pride. Sporting a ₹3,300 entry buy-in, the event registered 282 entries to witness a deficit of ₹1.54 Lakhs. MTT pro Rajat ‘LungFakeer’ Sharma was the last player standing in the event and won ₹2.21 Lakhs after defeating Ritwik ‘Ritwikkhanna’ Khanna (runner-up for ₹1.55 Lakhs) heads-up.

Sharma, a former Millionaire Lite champion, posted a second FT score yesterday, placing fourth in PokerStars India’s Night on Stars for ₹40,387. Sitting with ₹4.96 Crores in recorded earnings, Sharma should be entering the “₹5 Crore Club” any day now!

The ₹3 Lakhs GTD Wednesday SuperStack had 126 entries in the fray that resulted in a ₹48,000 shortfall. Chirag ‘BadSirck’ Khandelwal championed the tourney to win ₹80,400 with ‘Nulhad’ finishing runner-up for ₹56,310.

Adda52

The featured event running on Adda52 was the ₹15 Lakhs GTD Maverick. The ₹2,500 entry buy-in tourney clocked in 572 entries to experience a ₹1.99 Lakhs shortfall. After nearly nine hours of play, PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘rocky3705’ Ahuja claimed the outright victory, adding ₹3.83 Lakhs to his bankroll. Shivam ‘shivam699’ Khandelwal finished runner-up for ₹2.18 Lakhs.

One of the biggest winners of the year, Ahuja, is currently ranked #7 on the annual leaderboard with ₹2.46 Crores in recorded earnings in 2020. He is fast racing towards the ₹6 Crore-mark in recorded winnings and needs a little over ₹10,000 at ₹5.89 Crores!

Like the Maverick, even the ₹4 Lakhs GTD Moonlight had to fill in a ₹45,760 shortfall on the back of 216 entries. The tourney commenced at 9:30 PM and came to a close at 2:50 PM with ‘hopster99’ grabbing the title and the ₹1.10 Lakhs top prize. ‘gauravgoru’ finished runner-up for ₹64,000.

 

PokerStars India

There has been a noticeable drop in attendance at PokerStars India post the recently concluded INCOOP series. Its Wednesday flagship Night on Stars ran with a ₹5 Lakhs guarantee yesterday and had to fill in a ₹50,000 shortfall on the back of 180 entries. Myron ‘khAAbib’ Pereira was the last player standing in the tourney and won ₹99,391. Raghav ‘maddyrag’ Madan finished runner-up for ₹73,617.

Pereira also placed sixth in PokerBaazi’s Wednesday SuperStack for ₹16,080, his second FT score of the night. The Goa-resident has been on a breakout run this year and has accumulated over ₹1.52 Cores through online MTT`s already. He is currently just ₹6 Lakhs short of hitting the magical ₹2 Crore-mark in lifetime earnings.

The ₹4 Lakhs GTD Big Bubble Rush played out amid 171 runners, to post an overlay of ₹58,000. Sreeharsha ‘DonkeyCommitted’ Boneni championed the tourney to win ₹85,359, crossing ₹1 Crore in recorded earnings. ‘khutts’ finished runner-up for ₹41,364.

PokerDangal

PokerDangal flagged off the brand-new Dangal Grinder Series (DGS) last night, one of its birthday month promotions. The showstopper ₹10 Lakhs GTD DGS Main played out its first of four starting flights on Wednesday. Day 1A registered 205 entries, and 22 survivors made it across to Day 2 with ‘garypanga’ (222,187), ‘papupass’ (220,475), and ‘dashpro’ (203,172) bagging the top stacks of the day.

Spartan Poker’s ₹25 Lakhs GTD Destiny attracted 490 entries on Wednesday, falling some 10 entries short of the 500-entry guarantee.

The ₹5,500 entry buy-in tourney got going at 8 PM, and a little over eight hours later, mystery user ‘Midge Maisel’ shipped the tourney to win ₹6.62 Lakhs. Former Millionaire champion Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra came in second for ₹4.12 Lakhs.

The mystery champion has touched ₹20.81 Lakhs in recorded earnings on Spartan Poker after the win with a net profit of ₹10.45 Lakhs.

The runner-up score helped boost Kwatra`s online scorecard to ₹3.63 Crores.

Part of the 3-year birthday celebrations at PokerDangal, the Dangal Grinder Series (DGS), commenced its debut run last night. The biggest draw at the series, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD DSG Main Event, will run all four days of the DGS, and Wednesday saw Day 1A playing out.

Running from 7:30 PM to 11:37 PM, the ₹990 entry buy-in tourney saw 22 runners from a starting field of 207 entries advancing to Day 2. Grabbing the end-of-Day 1A chip lead was ‘garypanga’ (222,187) with ‘papupass’ (220,475) and ‘dashpro’ (203,172), rounding out the top three stacks of the day.

The Maverick runner-up, Shivam ‘iaafpg’ Khandelwal (132,133), featured among the top 10 stacks of the day.
