Thursday night was a riot on the virtual felts, with Spartan Poker’s GPS and PokerStars India’s INCOOP rolling out a host of high-value tourneys. There was enough excitement on Adda52 and PokerBaazi as well. Let`s take a look at the day`s highlights.
Spartan Poker
Thursdays are usually headlined by high roller action on Spartan Poker and last night saw the ₹55 Lakhs GTD GPS #39 High Roller open to action at 9 PM. With 123 entries (72 unique, 25 re-entries, and 26 rebuys), the tournament collected a generous ₹61.50 Lakhs prize pool. After more than seven hours of battle, it was ‘Ghayal2112’ who rose to the podium to claim the winner’s cheque of ₹13.15 Lakhs after striking a three-way deal with PokerGuru Ambassador’s Laksh Pal ‘LuckyBhai$’ Singh (runner up for ₹11.79 Lakhs) and Gokul ‘Super Kings’ Raj (3rd for ₹9.98 Lakhs).
Singh, who had won the Maverick on Wednesday, posted a seventh-place finish in Adda52’s ₹5 Lakhs GTD Table For 6 as well for ₹18,750.
Also making it to the GPS High Roller final table were Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall (4th for ₹5.87 Lakhs) & Manish ‘potlords’ Gandhi (6th for ₹3.69 Lakhs) with Sriharsha ‘Potato Player’ Doddapaneni (8th for ₹2.27 Lakhs) and Shashank ‘westworld’ Jain (9th for ₹1.72 Lakhs) rounding out the other top finishers in the tourney.
The ₹50 Lakhs GTD GPS #41 Battlefield was another headliner that ran to a conclusion last night. Hours before Day 2 began, the final starting flight, i.e., Day 1D, played out amid 674 entries, and 86 were able to qualify for Day 2. Added to the 1,210 entries from the first three flights, this made for a 1,884-strong field, overlaying ₹2.90 Lakhs. Day 2 kicked off with 259 survivors that included 212 unique entrants.
It was an intense fight to the finish line with only 255 places to share the prize money.Eventually, Arun ‘arungeo95’ George ran past the likes of Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia (3rd for ₹3.36 Lakhs) and Vishnu ‘Violater’ Khandelwal (4th for ₹2.43 Lakhs) on the final table to face Young Gun Anuj ‘tittooTauji’ Yadav (2nd for ₹4.80 Lakhs) heads-up for the title. George relegated Yadav to the runner-up spot, claiming the bragging right of winning the title and ₹8.60 Lakhs.
This happens to be George’s best-recorded score to date and has improved his lifetime winnings across domestic sites to ₹29.3 Lakhs.
Yadav was among the day`s standout performers as he also final tabled the Godfather on Adda52, padding his bankroll by another ₹2.10 Lakhs for a fourth-place finish. Over these two scores, Yadav earned ₹6.90 Lakhs last night!
If high roller and Battlefield excitement were not enough, Spartan Poker had the ₹25 Lakhs GTD GPS – Grand Ultron on its Thursday schedule as well. Starting at 8 PM, the tourney suffered a glaring ₹3.60 Lakhs overlay after 535 runners came in to play. Here again, Lakhotia was among the top contenders, this time fulfilling his title aspiration after defeating ‘acequeens’ (runner-up for ₹3.07 Lakhs) heads-up. Lakhotia helped himself to a ₹4.85 Lakhs payout, bringing his total earnings for the day to ₹8.21 Lakhs!
Lakhotia currently has ₹3.75 Crores in recorded winnings and looking at his present form, he is an on-money favorite to cross the ₹4 Crore-mark soon!
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s ₹20 Lakhs GTD The Summit attracted a 253-player field, each ponying up the ₹8,250 entry buy-in. After more than a seven-hour run, bracelet champion Abhinav ‘griezmann’ Iyer beat Siddhanth ‘ender’ Kripalani (runner-up for ₹3.30 Lakhs) heads-up to capture the top prize of ₹4.71 Lakhs. Iyer’s online record has reached ₹3.68 Crores after this win.
Iyer was not stopping at the title win as he went on to final table the ₹30 Lakhs GTD INCOOP-81 Highroller on PokerStars India as well, where he finished fourth for ₹2.51 Lakhs.
