Merry Christmas, folks! The festival may be over, but the joy and celebrations still hang heavy in the air! We’ll soon be closing out an eventful 2020, and with the year-end just a few days away, Spartan Poker has rolled out yet another Millionaire edition to keep the festive spirits up. Friday saw the tourney commence proceedings alongside the other weekly flagships running across the different platforms.
Let’s take a quick recap of the featured tourneys on Friday.
Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker’s flagship The Millionaire is making its final run of the year. The ₹1 Crore GTD tourney began yesterday, with the first of its five starting flights registering 330 entries (184 unique, 46 re-entries, and 100 rebuys). By the end of the play, only 40 players made it through to Day 2, and leading the lot was Yash ‘kajuman’ Brijwasi (375,784), with Vishal ‘uttu0501’ Singh (304,039) and Aniket ‘Ntwadumela’ Waghmare (219,445) rounding out the top three stacks from the flight.
The site’s Friday major, The Elite, comfortably breached its posted guarantee of ₹25 Lakhs, collecting ₹25.80 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 258 entries. The tournament commenced at 9.30 PM and took a little over eight-and-half hours to crown a winner in ‘Paperboi,’ who pocketed ₹5.99 Lakhs after besting seasoned reg Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia to the finish line. ‘Paperboi’ has won this tournament at least twice already, once on August 14, and the second time on November 13. Exactly a month ago, the mystery crushed had won the Destiny for ₹7.02 Lakhs.
Lakhotia, a former IOPC Millionaire United champion, had championed the Maverick and the PokerStars India’s Highroller last week while topping the 25 qualifiers from Week #3 of PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” December race. Yesterday, Lakhotia helped himself to a runner-up payday of ₹4.06 Lakhs, boosting his online tally to ₹5.35 Crores.
The other Friday attraction, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD TGIF, took flight precisely 90 minutes before The Elite and ended up filling in an overlay of ₹98,500 after 601 entries signed up to play. After over seven hours of play, the final four players agreed to close it out with a deal that handed out the title to Kunal ‘Charsilaladka‘ Chaudhary. Chaudhary pocketed ₹1.37 Lakhs, with Garima ‘lastmountain’ Sharma (runner-up for ₹1.24 Lakhs), ‘EgoCrusher007’ (3rd for ₹1.17 Lakhs), and Vishal ‘VishalMaharaj’ Maharaj (4th for ₹98,152) also banking six-figure scores.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India’s Friday night attraction, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut Magic Edition, logged in 185 entries resulting in a glaring ₹2.6 Lakhs overlay deficit. It took almost six-and-half hours of play before Chirag ‘WhyworrY_56’ Sodha maneuvered his way to the top to win ₹1.84 Lakhs (₹1.03 Lakhs in prize money and ₹81,063 in bounties). Sodha, who beat ‘rkcravi’ heads-up in the tourney, now sits with over ₹2.64 Crores in annual winnings and ₹4.33 Crores in lifetime earnings. The latter collected ₹1.48 Lakhs (₹1.03 Lakhs in prize money and ₹44,563 in bounties) for their runner-up finish.
The other bounty tournament on the site, the ₹2 Lakhs GTD Classic PKO, saw ‘robert_ford9’ outlasting the 118-entry field to claim the title for ₹49,575 (₹23,946 in prize money and ₹25,629 in bounties).
