Mondays are generally slow-paced on the virtual felts, but with a dry spell of events, it seemed slower than usual. The start of Spartan Poker’s Grand Poker Series (GPS) was the only saving grace. Here is a complete recap.

Spartan Poker

Tournament season never ends on Spartan Poker! After a phenomenally successful IOPC July edition, one of India’s leading online poker site returned with the second edition of the GPS on Monday. The first flagship tournament on offer at the week-long series was the ₹14 Lakhs GTD GPS#3 ReCharge. Drawing in 796 entrants, who ponied up the ₹2,200 buy-in, the tourney crushed its advertised guarantee to collect a ₹15.92 Lakhs prize pool. Former Millionaire United champion Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia battled it out with site regular ‘Jhumroo’ for the title. Lakhotia clinched the top prize worth ₹3.07 Lakhs, taking his overall online tally to ₹3.45 Crores. The runner-up walked away with ₹1.93 Lakhs.

The other big guarantee event on Spartan Poker was the ₹6.5 Lakhs GTD GPS#4 The Flash that attracted 661 entries and surpassed its offered guarantee by ₹11,000. Arjunn ‘Arjunn Ag’ Agrawal took down the event for ₹1.26 Lakhs, after besting ‘Azhor Ahai’ (runner-up for ₹79,523). Agarwal presently has lifetime online winnings of ₹54.1 Lakhs, out which ₹38.22 Lakhs he has earned on Spartan Poker.

PokerBaazi

With the lackluster action on other premier sites, PokerBaazi’s ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Bout comfortably sailed past its listed guarantee and posted a ₹10.43 Lakhs prize pool on the back of 417 contenders. Sandy ‘Ziigmund’ Lamba, who had shipped the BSS MegaStack ₹8 Lakhs GTD on Sunday, won back-to-back titles on the site, after taking down The Bout for ₹2.10 Lakhs. Suraj ‘SurajRathi’ Rathi secured the runner-up spot with a ₹1.47 Lakhs payout. With this score, Lamba has accrued ₹95.96 Lakhs on PokerBaazi alone.

Adda52

Things are steadily returning to normal on Adda52. The site able to carry out its Tuesday staple tourney, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Inception, without any significant hiccups. However, after nearly a week-long absence, the tourney did not receive a very warm welcome back from the players. With only 299 entries getting registered in the event, the site had to fill in an overlay of ₹43,200. Mystery user ‘solidpoker’ toppled Surbhit ‘grovahova’ Grover during the heads-up play and claimed the top honors, including a ₹2.09 Lakhs payday. A heads-up chop saw Grover take home ₹1.99 Lakhs in prize money.

PokerStars India

The ₹7 Lakhs GTD Battle Royale was the signature event on PokerStars India yesterday. The event ran for nearly seven hours, and in the end, site regular ‘theoldestkid’ came out on top. They trounced the 252-strong entry field, banking ₹1.58 Lakhs, while ‘Magadh.Express’ came in second for ₹73,886. Following the usual trend on the site, this event suffered an overlay of ₹70,000.
