There’s been no slowdown of action on the virtual felts but Friday, by all means, was one of the busiest days of the week. Mohit Bhati had his name etched in the history books as he dominated a stacked final table in the IOPC #73 – High Roller, riding his chip lead all the way to the title to collect ₹23.25 Lakhs!

Young Gun Anuj Yadav finished runner-up for ₹15.75 Lakhs. He also took down the IOPC #79 – Friday Prime for ₹3.48 Lakhs, collectively adding ₹19.39 Lakhs through the day. He is now the first player to win four IOPC titles at the ongoing series, and his Friday night run has catapulted him past Bhanu Prakash KC to the top of the IOPC leaderboard standings.

Rounding out the list of podium finishers in IOPC #73 – High Roller was Avadh ‘cateyes’ Shah, who came third for ₹10.50 Lakhs.

The NPS champion Mohammad Azhar made quite the splash last night. Making an appearance after a short break, the cash game reg bagged his first IOPC Gold Badge in IOPC #80 Friday Spotlight, netting ₹11.64 Lakhs. Meet ‘gogobhai’ Jariwala placed runner-up for ₹7.38 Lakhs. Azhar made another two ITM finishes, including a runner-up finish in PokerBaazi’s The Weekly Highroller, adding an impressive ₹13.59 Lakhs in Friday earnings.

PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh kept his scorecard ticking as he took down PokerBaazi`s The Weekly Highroller for ₹4.17 Lakhs – his fourth flagship title this week!

Haider Madraswala (Won the IOPC #81 All-Rounder ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.49 Lakhs), Sreekanth Narayan (Won the Uppercut MAGIC Edition ₹7 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.54 Lakhs), Avneesh ‘IamAM’ Munjal (Won ₹6 Lakhs GTD IOPC#77 for ₹1.39 Lakhs), and Kunal ‘UnityPro’ Sharma (Won IOPC#78 ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹92,045) won the other marquee titles.

Here is a detailed account of the Friday tournament action!

Spartan Poker

India’s biggest and most extravagant poker series, the 11th edition of the IOPC, had seven events playing down to a winner on Friday.

The biggest spectacle was the final table of the ₹1 Crore GTD IOPC #73 High Roller. The final day kicked off at 5 PM, and all six finalists were assured ₹5.35 Lakhs – but all eyes were on the ₹23.25 Lakhs up top and the seat on the IOPC Masters Table. Mohit ‘jacktheripper’ Bhati, who began the final table as the chip leader, went coast-to-coast to carry his dominion right to the finish line.

The 34-year-old player was visibly aggressive on the final table. After dispatching four-time Destiny winner Nitin’ Demogorgon’ Arora out in sixth place, he added to his chip lead early. Bhati’s run was smooth, but he made several out-of-the-box moves, all of which worked in his favor. He clashed with Young Gun Anuj ‘tittooTauji’ Yadav (2nd for ₹15.75 Lakhs) in the final showdown. Yadav, who had scored the eliminations of Ankit ‘Asymptote05’ Khattar and Avadh ‘cateyes’ Shah to make it to the heads-up, was no competition for Bhati’s massive 62.33 Million stack and started out with a 3.5: 1 chip deficit with 17.66 Million in chips. Yadav fought hard but eventually lost the battle, conceding the title to Bhati, the latter becoming the third player to punch his ticket for the IOPC Masters Table!

Talking to the IOPC commentators post the win, Bhati acknowledged, “Last time I had come deep in the Sunday Prime, but then I lost it because I went into a shell…this time I thought I would stick to my strategy. I hope I can continue this!”

A resident of Greater Noida, Bhati, has been playing poker since 2017 and has run up several noteworthy scores in under a week. He came strikingly close to taking down the IOPC#66 Sunday Prime but agreed to a heads-up chop that handed the title to PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh. On Wednesday, Bhati bettered all his past performances, achieving a new personal milestone by winning the ₹50 Lakhs GTD IOPC#66 Wednesday Prime for his first IOPC title and a ₹8.23 Lakhs payday. Bhati’s High Roller win is his most significant poker achievement to date.

Avadh’ cateyes’ Shah (3rd for ₹10.50 Lakhs), Ankit ‘Asymptote05’ Khattar (4th for ₹8.60 Lakhs), Young Gun Sanat ‘orhem3001’ Mehrotra (5th for ₹6.90 Lakhs), and four-time Destiny winner, Nitin ‘Demogorgon’ Arora (6th for ₹5.35 Lakhs) booked the other FT scores.

The other Friday headliner, the ₹60 Lakhs GTD IOPC #80 Friday Spotlight, registered 564 entries, overlaying ₹3.60 Lakhs. Making an incredible comeback to the virtual felts, NPS Main Event champion Mohammad ‘ButtonsHaiBro’ Azhar shipped the event to win ₹11.64 Lakhs, defeating Meet ‘gogobhai’ Jariwala (2nd for ₹7.38 Lakhs) heads-up.

Azhar had a dream run last month at the inaugural NPS, where he championed three events – the NPS Kick-Off and NPS #79 Friday Force, and the NPS Main Event, topping both the Series and Podium Leaderboards.

Primarily a cash game player, 23-years old Azhar has been missing in action at the IOPC. He got active Sunday onwards, where he picked up his first ITM finish at the series in the ₹17.50 Lakhs GTD IOPC #47 Sunday Spotlight, placing 22nd for ₹17,889. The Rajasthan-based Azhar announced his entry into the IOPC champion’s club in style with the Friday Spotlight win. He made another two ITM finishes last night, earning a cumulative ₹13.59 Lakhs. His ITM finishes include:

> 1st in the IOPC #80 Friday Spotlight ₹60 Lakhs GTD for ₹11.64 Lakhs

> 3rd in PokerBaazi’s The Weekly HighRoller for ₹1.88 Lakhs

> 14th in Adda52’s Running Hot for ₹6,672

Azhar also boosted his online scorecard to ₹1.81 Crores. He is currently ranked #28 in the annual leaderboard standings (₹1.31 Crores in annual winnings) and is placed #6 in annual profits (₹83.82 Lakhs in yearly profits).

The 25-year-old Electrical Engineer turned poker pro, Young Gun Anuj ‘tittooTauji’ Yadav, has won three IOPC events – the IOPC #34 Friday Prime, IOPC #56 All-Rounder, and IOPC #64, since last Friday. Last night, Yadav might have finished runner-up in the IOPC High Roller, but he grabbed his fourth IOPC title in the ₹15 Lakhs GTD IOPC #79 Friday Prime a few hours later. Yadav fired three bullets in the event, eventually banking the top prize of ₹3.48 Lakhs. He bested a 2,459-player field, and Buhr ‘riokid’ Advirkar placed runner-up for ₹2 Lakhs.

Yadav is now the only player to have won four titles at the IOPC July edition and banked at least ₹19.39 Lakhs on Friday (he has opted out of our tracking). His known top finishes include:

Until Thursday, Anuj Yadav rallied on the #2 spot on the ₹1 Crore IOPC leaderboard standings but stormed his way to the #1 position after his two big finishes last night. With 11,908 points, Yadav looks a formidable contender to break TLB crusher Bhanu ‘spectre’ Prakash KC’s (10,653 points) hattrick attempt at topping the IOPC Leaderboard. Abhijeet ‘TheSupremeone’ Kumar (9,306 points) rounds out the top three places on the IOPC leaderboard standings.
