Friday’s are usually busy for online poker players, and with Spartan Poker’s India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) running full throttle, yesterday turned out to be an immensely hectic day. Taking center stage last night was The Millionaire Legends ₹2 Crores GTD – the second of three such extravaganzas that form part of the IOPC. The ₹27,500 buy-in tournament logged in a total of 369 entries (244 unique, 67 re-entries and 58 rebuys) on Day 1A, and after hours of hard work, only 62 could survive the day’s onslaught. Topping the group of survivors was Abhineet’ bankelal13’ Jain. Jain is one of the more established players on the domestic circuit. His last recorded live score was the fourth-place finish at the 2017 PokerStars LIVE Manila Super Series 4. Yesterday, Jain amassed a humongous stack of 615,352 at the end of Day 1A.

A reasonable distance behind Jain is Sahil ‘SlimShady19’ Chuttani (474,527), with Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo (322,919), Ayush ‘Lazyman’ Garg (317,140), ‘masterbluff’ (300,165) and PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal ‘LuckyBhai$’ Singh (290,773) featuring on the list of Day 1A chip leaders.

The Millionaire may have caught most of the stardust, but there was another flagship, the IOPC #46 The Elite ₹40 Lakhs GTD, that played down to a champion last night. With 526 entrants, (222 unique, 132 re-entries and 172 rebuys), the event had a smashing turnout, blowing away the advertised guarantee by ₹12.60 Lakhs to collect a massive ₹52.60 Lakhs in prize money. Towards the finale, the final four contenders struck a deal that saw Suhas SkullkikkerN walk away with the top prize of ₹7.16 Lakhs. ‘mumbaifish’ (runner-up for ₹6.77 Lakhs), Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (3rd for ₹5.98 Lakhs) and Apratim ‘checm@te’ Sharma (4th for ₹5.67 Lakhs) were the other top finishers.

Adda52’s The Ballers ₹25 Lakhs GTD enjoyed an equally action-packed run. The tournament garnered 369 entries (202 unique and 167 re-entries) to just about surpass its advertised guarantee with a prize pool collection of ₹25.27 Lakhs. Taking on the podium was PokerGuru Ambassador Faiz ‘theinternetkid’ Alam. Alam’s most successful run on the live felts was in 2017 when he finished third in the DPT April 15K Kickoff for ₹3.20 Lakhs. He was last seen picking a 33rd place score at the IPC 50K Main Event. Back to the online felts, Alam had a tough opponent in another online regular Hitesh ‘buntai’ Batra, but it was the former who eventually came out on top to win the ₹5.03 Lakhs that was kept aside for the winner. Batra banked ₹4.33 Lakhs for finishing runner-up.

Over at PokerStars India’s Uppercut Progressive KO MAGIC Edition ₹8 Lakhs GTD, a 251-player field that comprised of 133 unique players and 118 re-entries led to a ₹10.04 Lakhs prize pool. With 47 places paid, ‘FLIPflops’ banked the lion’s share of the prize money amounting to ₹1.52 Lakhs. The player fired two bullets on his way to the title, and his final showdown was with seasoned pro Vidwath ‘RoronoA_1111’ Shetty. Shetty took home a runner-up payday of ₹1.39 Lakhs.

The PokerBaazi’s run of Friday tourneys was headlined by Fri-Yay ₹6 Lakhs GTD, where 226 hopefuls (131 unique and 95 re-entries) registered to play. Mrinal ‘booyah’ Manna proved to be the last player standing after defeating his heads-up opponent Navdeep ‘Psychonaut’ Sahi to clinch the title and the top prize of ₹1.59 Lakhs. A runner-up finish was good for Sahi to pocket ₹1.11 Lakhs.

The high player traffic on the virtual felts benefitted Poker Dangal’s flagship Friday event, Dangal Friday ₹1 Lakh GTD, as well. The event mustered 135 runners (86 unique and 49 re-buys) to collect a guarantee-crushing ₹1.21 Lakhs prize pool. A player with the moniker ‘Flawless’ topped the field to win ₹25,515.
