Wednesday reigned in an eventful day of MTT action, with the second edition of the National Poker Series continuing its record-shattering run on PokerBaazi.
The 25-year-old online phenom Young Gun Neel Joshi was the day`s top scorer as he won Spartan Poker’s Destiny for ₹6.74 Lakhs. The in-form Ankit Bajaj came second for ₹4.20 Lakhs.
The former The Millionaire champion from Jaipur, Shagun Jain, took down PokerBaazi’s NPS#59 Wednesday Volley for ₹6.68 Lakhs and his third NPS gold medal at the ongoing series. Last night`s win has catapulted him to the #1 position in the NPS Podium standings. Pratik Ajmani placed runner-up for ₹4.68 Lakhs.
Mohit Mehta shipped NPS#60 PLO5 Heavy-Weight for ₹1.92 Lakhs and chopped the title three-way with Ganesh Durgade (2nd for ₹1.35 Lakhs) and Himanshu Arora (3rd for ₹1.52 Lakhs). Mehta also FT-ed NPS#59 Wednesday Volley (5th for ₹1.67 Lakhs).
Vinayak Bajaj was the last player standing in Adda52’s Maverick and won ₹3.29 Lakhs, picking up his first title in over two months. He struck a heads-up deal with ‘Jharauthy’ (2nd for ₹2.71 Lakhs).
Peushup Eugene came out on top in PokerBaazi’s NPS#58 SPRINT DST, winning his first title of the year and ₹2.47 Lakhs in prize money. Last week`s NPS#27 SPRINT winner, PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer Singh Chadha, finished runner-up for ₹1.73 Lakhs, missing out on his chance at nabbing his second NPS gold medal at the series.
Gadadhar Behara (Won NPS #61 SPRINT ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.86 Lakhs) and Ankit Thakur (Won NPS#57 Slam Dunk 6-Max for ₹1.22 Lakhs) were others who won NPS gold medals yesterday!
The four-time Destiny champion Nitin Arora took down Adda52’s La Luna for ₹1.10 Lakhs and cashed another two events, collectively adding ₹1.59 Lakhs.
PokerStars India reg Adwait Pol won the Night on Stars yesterday, bagging his eighth title of the year and a site-best ₹1.01 Lakhs. Rishab Malik came second for ₹77,611.
Amit Kaushik, Rajneesh Thakur, Abhishek Gupta, Aditya Sharma, and Nitesh Mallanar shipped the other Wednesday marquees.

The record-breaking National Poker Series is fast approaching the finish line with another four days to go for the online leg of the series to wrap up. Day 11 had eight events running on PokerBaazi, and five of them played down to a winner. Like the last two days, the NPS Golden Rush completed two starting flights, and the NPS Main Event ran its third flight.

The day`s biggest guaranteed tournament, ₹25 Lakhs GTD NPS#59 Wednesday Volley, saw the former The Millionaire champion Shagun ‘sogani22’ Jain overcoming a guarantee-crushing 738-entry field to collect his third NPS gold medal and a winner’s payday worth ₹6.68 Lakhs. Pratik ‘Pm1123’ Ajmani bagged the silver medal and ₹4.68 Lakhs.
Shagun Jain had previously won the NPS#40 PLO5 Deepdive & NPS #26 PLO Slam Dunk and, with last night’s win, has become the second player after Rohit Begwani to clinch three NPS gold medals at the ongoing series. His Wednesday run has helped him dethrone Begwani from the #1 position on the NPS Podium leaderboard (he has won three gold and two silver medals), and he`s ranked #3 on the ₹50 Lakhs-added NPS series leaderboard standings.
The ₹5,500 buy-in flagship generated a smashing ₹36.90 Lakhs prize pool (almost 50% more than its listed guarantee).

Like the previous two days, Wednesday saw the ₹3 Crores GTD NPS Main Event completing another starting flight.
Qualifier 3 brought in 613 hopefuls, and 70 carried forward a stack to Day 2. Kunal ‘symbolicchamp’ Agrawal (431,000), ‘ramboczar’ (401,000), and ‘goldenbhai’ (387,000) topped the day-end chip counts.
One name that stood out on the survivor’s list was the defending NPS Main Event champion Mohammad ‘chandlerbing’ Azhar (387,000). Sumeet ‘Sumitsingh199’ Rajpurohit (337,000), Subhojit ‘Roysubho85’ Roy (260,000), and Shekhar ‘shakyshark’ Singh (254,000) were others making the top 10 chip count`s list.
The NPS Main Event has filled in 1,873 entries already (Qualifier 1 – 565, Qualifier 2 – 695, and Qualifier 3 – 613) with another five starting flights left to run.
Day 2 of the Main Event starts at 9 PM on Sunday, March 20, where all the advancing players will converge on PokerBaazi to play down to the final table. The last leg of the event will be held in Goa at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room onboard Casino Majestic Pride on March 24. ‘MAHESHVR’ (443,000) bagged the most-massive stack among the 74 players who survived Qualifier 6 (Turbo) of the NPS Golden Rush. ‘Arnold77’ (343,000), ‘Stannis’ (260,000), ‘Damienraza’ (238,000), and Kritarth ‘AgentJack’ Pant (238,000) carried forward the subsequent top stacks.
Qualifier 6 (Turbo) drew 532 runners, expanding the field to 6,898 entries (Qualifier 1 – 2,225, Qualifier 2 – 1,824, Qualifier 3 – 1,117, Qualifier 4 – 445, Qualifier 5 – 755, and Qualifier 6 – 532)! The NPS Golden Rush needs 20,000 entries to break even on its ₹1 Crore prize pool guarantee.
The NPS Golden Rush Final begins at 9 PM on March 20, where the field will be cut down to a nine-handed final table. The nine finalists will get four days off to make plans for Goa and will play down to a winner at the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room onboard Casino Majestic Pride on March 25.
