The second wave of the COVID-19 has hit the nation hard, resulting in lockdowns (full and partial) in many states. The result: the online MTT turnouts are witnessing a significant uptick. While the Sunday turnouts are hard to match, the usually slow Mondays have also started recording impressive turnouts, yesterday being no different.

The one series that’s bound to get the adrenaline pumping of the Indian poker community this week is Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire Series 2.0. The series kicked off yesterday with three Mega Satellites offering tickets to featured events at the upcoming series. The grand series will host its first official tournament today.

In the absence of Spartan Poker’s Monday marquees, Adda52’s Iron Man was the day’s biggest guaranteed event. Last week’s Iron Man champion, Pawan Tez, successfully defended his title, taking home ₹2.11 Lakhs and his third-ever Iron Man title!

Kunal Patni championed PokerBaazi’s The Big Show for a second time last night for ₹2 Lakhs, while Kushagra Mehta of the FTS 2.0 fame won Adda52’s Voyager for ₹86,187.

Here are the Monday highlights!

Spartan Poker

In anticipation of the second edition of The Millionaire Series, Spartan Poker did not host any of its Monday flagships. Instead, the site ran three Millionaire Series Mega Satellites offering players a chance to book seats to the upcoming ₹5 Crores guaranteed series.

The first of the satellites, Millionaire Series Mega Satellite #1, ran from 7 PM to 11:20 PM. The top 30 qualifiers received tickets to all the 7 PM tournaments (except Millionaire Day 1B) worth ₹13,090.

The Millionaire Series Mega Satellite #2 ran from 9:30 PM to 3:12 AM, offering tickets to all the 9:30 PM events worth ₹64,900. The top 15 runners received tickets.

The final satellite, the Millionaire Series Mega Satellite #3, guaranteed the top 25 finishers tickets to all the 11 PM tournaments worth ₹6,160.

The Millionaire Series 2.0 has three events on the Day 1 schedule:

> ₹4 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series #1 (7 PM)

> ₹30 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series #2 Double Stack (9:30 PM)

> ₹6 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series #3 (11 PM)

PokerStars India

The ₹5 Lakhs GTD Battle Royale was the featured tourney running on PokerStars India on Monday. The 7:30 PM tourney went on until 2:31 AM, and a starting field of 177 entrants helped collect ₹5.40 Lakhs in the prize pool. The mystery user ‘galba14’ topped the field to take home ₹89,709 (includes ₹43,191 in bounties) in first-place prize money, just as Piyush ‘jacks_apart’ Jain finished runner-up for ₹69,143 (includes ₹22,625 in bounties).

PokerStars India regular Swapnil ‘pokpom1’ Patil took down the ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD Deepstack for a third time last night for ₹35,344. ‘41195’ came in second for ₹27,202.

Making its debut on the new and improved PokerBaazi app, the ₹2,750 entry buy-in tourney logged in 382 entries, collecting a guarantee-surpassing ₹9.55 Lakhs prize pool. Seasoned pro Kunal ‘VasooliChacha’ Patni has been on quite a roll these past few days. He had shipped Adda52’s The Maverick on April 28 and took down PokerStars India’s Highroller on April 29. Taking down his third flagship title in less than a week, he championed The Big Show for ₹2 Lakhs, besting Kovid ‘fzzzyyy’ Saraswat (runner-up for ₹1.40 Lakhs) in heads-up play. Kunal Patni has already accumulated ₹4.59 Crores in tracked online winnings.
