The weekend rush has started, and there were fireworks on the digital felts last night as the flagships toppled their massive guarantees! Some of the best regs in the business converged to play Spartan Poker’s The Elite ₹50 Lakhs GTD that attracted 584 entries, 263 of them unique players, along with 136 re-entries and 185 rebuys. Now, if that wasn’t enough to blow the advertised guarantee to smithereens! With a final prize pool collection of ₹58.40 Lakhs, it was the prominent poker pro Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal who came out on top to win the seven-figure score of ₹11.32 Lakhs. Bansal, who has a well-rounded poker resume replete with live and online scores, defeated ‘masterbluff’ (runner-up for ₹7.08 Lakhs) heads-up to emerge as the biggest winner last night.
The other Spartan flagship, TGIF ₹12 Lakhs GTD, was also able to break the bank by collecting a guarantee-crushing ₹15.60 Lakhs prize pool. The tourney logged in 1,040 hopefuls (486 unique, 154 re-entries and 400 rebuys) and running past all of them was Arjun Singh ‘Don Julio’ Kochhar who struck a four-way deal with ‘Vishwa555’ (runner-up for ₹2.14 Lakhs), ‘Dragon Kewe’ (3rd for ₹1.80 Lakhs) and Vimaljeet ‘Spartan92’ Singh (4th for ₹1 Lakhs) before taking down the tourney for ₹2.15 Lakhs in prize money.
In the Afternoon Showdown ₹6.5 Lakhs GTD, ‘Faucet Failure’ struck a heads-up deal with ‘saltwater’ (runner-up for ₹1.12 Lakhs) to win the ₹1.17 Lakhs first-place prize money.
The other major tourney at Spartan Poker, SSS#64 5FOR5 (₹50K to Top 5), paid out ₹50,000 each to the top five places, namely, Manish ‘potlords’ Gandhi, ‘KidChaos24’, ‘Uncle$crooge’, ‘PokerStar090’ and Siddharth ‘siddchat’ Chaturvedi. Notably, Gandhi final tabled the Ultimate PLO ₹2.75 Lakhs GTD as well, finishing seventh for ₹14,820.
Headlining PokerBaazi`s Friday lineup was the Fri-Yay ₹6 Lakhs GTD. With 235 entries (147 unique and 88 re-entries), the tournament obliterated its guarantee collecting a prize pool worth ₹7.05 Lakhs. The final table was a stacked affair with some of the most talented pros jostling for the top spot. Edging past online regs like Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani (3rd for ₹74,870), Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall (4th for ₹55,410) and Prateek ‘khotasikka’ Singh (5th for ₹41,600), it was another familiar name Bhavye ‘noobnoob’ Mittal who took down the title to win ₹1.66 Lakhs. With 403 entries (214 unique and 189 re-entries), the tourney generated a profitable prize pool of ₹27.60 Lakhs. The heads-up play took place between two top pros. In one corner was the former APT Vietnam Main Event champion and WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav ‘checkshove’ Iyer while, on the other was PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek ‘vivek94540’ Singh. Iyer was hungry for the win after missing out in The Elite earlier in the night – he finished ninth for ₹1.11 Lakhs. The duo quickly shook hands on a heads-up deal that got Iyer the title along with the top prize of ₹5.88 Lakhs. Singh, in the meantime, ended his Friday night session with a ₹5.09 Lakhs score.
Like always, PokerGuru Ambassadors had a field day in the flagship tourneys.
