Thursday marked the onset of the first-ever World Poker Tour (WPT) Online India series on Adda52, and the opening day brought on several blockbuster tourneys. With Spartan Poker’s UVS-Diwali Delight and PokerDangal’s Dangal Diwali Series (DDS) running alongside the usual weekly headliners, it turned out to be a busy day for MTT players!
Let’s take a quick look at the day`s featured tourneys.
Spartan Poker
The Thursday primetime action on Spartan Poker was marked by the ₹18 Lakhs GTD Ultron. The ₹4,400 entry buy-in event took off at 8 PM and ended up selling 443 entry-slips (207 unique, 58 re-entries, and 178 rebuys), falling ₹28,000 short of breaking even. PokerGuru Ambassador Gokul ‘Super Kings’ Raj championed the tourney for ₹3.60 Lakhs after a near eight-hour-long battle.
Raj has exerted a consistent presence on the virtual felts of late and had only last Friday won the ₹20 Lakhs GTD Weekly Highroller on PokerBaazi for ₹4.87 Lakhs. Last night, he had to duke it out with MTT crusher Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall (runner-up for ₹2.39 Lakhs) to add the missing Ultron title to his shining online resume.
Along with another FT finish, a sixth-place score in PokerBaazi’s ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit worth ₹78,230, Raj earned ₹4.40 Lakhs in a single night, pushing his online scorecard to ₹3.86 Crores.
Vinayak ‘haayegarmi’ Bajaj (3rd for ₹1.75 Lakhs), Guruprasad ‘DONKAKING’ Gupta (5th for ₹1.11 Lakhs), Sanket ‘BANK$Y’ Arora (6th for ₹79,820) and Manish ‘thekid’ Lakhotia (9th for ₹37,620) were the other MTT regs who FT-ed the Ultron.
Over at the ₹7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack, ‘Ntwadumela’ topped 354 entries to take down the title for ₹1.58 Lakhs. The event had a shortfall of ₹42,000.
‘Pinkpasta’ was another player winning a marquee tourney title on the site. The player took down the ₹4.60 Lakhs GTD UVS #24 Monster Stack for ₹78,061 following a heads-up deal with ‘@Valmiki@’ (2nd for ₹77,463).
PokerStars India
Lighting up the MTT action at PokerStars India was its staple ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut MAGIC Edition. The tourney started at 7.30 PM, drawing in 237 entries (127 unique and 110 re-entries). This brought on an overlay of ₹52,000. Mystery player ‘varunkandaswami’ fired five bullets before succeeding in their title aspirations in the last attempt, padding their bankroll by ₹1.72 Lakhs (₹83,642 in prize money and ₹87,812 in bounties).
Pranay ‘aankhdikhatahai’ Chawla, who placed fifth in the WPT Big Game for ₹2.17 Lakhs, managed a close second-place finish in the Uppercut to earn ₹1.30 Lakhs (₹83,642 in prize and ₹45,938 in bounties). Chawla’s earnings over these two deep runs amounted to ₹3.46 Lakhs, pushing his lifetime tally to ₹2.80 Crores.
Also making it to the Uppercut FT were Pulkit ‘pulkitgoyal53’ Goyal (3rd for ₹56,403), Somesh ‘JackNotMa’ Patel (4th for ₹43,197), and the former IOPC Millionaire Anurag ‘GutshotHaiBro’ Srivastava (5th for ₹43,565). All 41 ITM finishers in the tourney picked up TLB points for the “Star of the Month” November leaderboard race.
The second qualifying tourney awarding TLB points for the “Star of the Month” leaderboard, the ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo, mustered 94 entries, falling six entries short on its 100-player guarantee. Bharat ‘hzgod’ Kumar came out on top to win ₹19,648 following a heads-up deal with ‘Nazgul1789’ (runner-up for ₹19,648).
Adda52
The much-awaited World Poker Tour (WPT) Online India made a smashing opening on Adda52 yesterday with a whopping 3,546 entries coming in across nine side events – all of them boisterously striding past their listed guarantee.
Headlining the day’s action were two ₹30 Lakhs GTD tourneys. The first of them, the WPT Kickoff, began at 8 PM. The ₹5,500 entry buy-in event dragged in 686 contenders (350 unique and 336 re-entries) to collect a guarantee-smashing ₹38.38 Lakhs. Racing past the sea of talented competitors were former Millionaire champions Ayush ‘lazyman’ Garg and Alok ‘apb1989’ Birewar, who crossed swords in the heads-up showdown. By the time the dust settled at 5 AM, Garg had won himself his first-ever WPT Online title and his third-best score of the year worth ₹8.57 Lakhs.
Garg, who had placed runner-up in The Ballers last Friday for ₹3.43 Lakhs, now has ₹3.18 Crores in online winnings to his name.
Runner-up Birewar pocketed a ₹4.97 Lakhs paycheque to improve his online scorecard to ₹2.17 Crores, even as Abhimanyu ‘Pirateboob’ Rao (3rd for ₹3.36 Lakhs) rounded out the podium finishers.
The list of other FT scorers includes Vishnu ‘violator’ Khandelwal (4th for ₹2.40 Lakhs), Mohit ‘monuguru’ Gupta (5th for ₹1.71 Lakhs), Siddarth ‘badtameez_donk’ Singhvi (6th for ₹1.20 Lakhs), Kamal ‘ksn123’ Naruka (7th for ₹94,325) and Ashumi ‘Ashumi’ Parekh (8th for ₹68,600).
The other big attraction was the WPT Big Game that, like the Kickoff, put up a ₹30 Lakhs prize pool guarantee but at a steeper entry buy-in of ₹15,000. Starting at 9.30 PM, the tourney disbursed ₹45.43 Lakhs in prize money to the top 35 places from a starting field of 280 entries. It took almost eight hours for the tourney to play down to a winner, with seasoned MTT pro Raghav ‘balugawhale’ Bansal powering his way through the reg-laden field to bank the single-biggest score of the day!
The MTT specialist who sits with over ₹3.06 Crores in recorded earnings was in unbeatable form, as he cranked out a near seven-figure score of ₹9.67 Lakhs after outlasting PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun ‘Themiths’ Mahesh in the heads-up finale.
As for Mahesh, this was his second near-miss on consecutive days. On Wednesday, he placed runner-up in PokerBaazi’s ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Pride for ₹1.65 Lakhs. Nonetheless, a runner-up score at the WPT Big Game saw him add a hefty ₹5.76 Lakhs to his bankroll.
PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal ‘BoomTilt23’ Singh was another member of the PokerGuru Staking team to make a deep run, finishing third for ₹4.34 Lakhs. Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra (4th for ₹3.21 Lakhs), Pranay ‘setmeup’ Chawla (5th for ₹2.17 Lakhs), and Bharat ‘rungooserun’ Vasan (6th for ₹1.51 Lakhs) also posted FT scores in the WPT Big Game.
Earlier in the day, the ₹5 Lakhs WPT Classic saw ‘noelpais’ top the 393-strong field for ₹1.12 Lakhs after a heads-up deal with ‘BenjaminSisko’ (runner-up for ₹1 Lakhs).
There are nine WPT Online India tourneys on the tap today, with the ₹30 Lakhs GTD WPT India Mini Highroller and the ₹15 Lakhs GTD WPT India PLO Championship being the day`s headliners!
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit enjoyed a smashing Thursday night run as 221 entries (113 unique and 108 re-entries) ponied up the ₹8,250 entry buy-in, collecting ₹16.58 Lakhs in the prize pool. The top 27 places earned a share of the spoils, with seasoned reg Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani collecting the lion’s share of the prize money worth ₹3.90 Lakhs.
One of the biggest lifetime winners on our database, Mahboobani currently sits on a ginormous ₹6.15 Crores in recorded earnings, and he’s no stranger to mounting The Summit. He’s shipped this tourney four times in the past! He last won the tourney on October 1 for ₹4.70 Lakhs with another third-place finish on October 23 for ₹2.03 Lakhs.
Yesterday, Mahboobani knocked out a long string of seasoned regs on his way to his fifth Summit victory, and this included his heads-up opponent, Chirag ‘miyagi’ Sodha (runner-up for ₹2.74 Lakhs).
