It was undoubtedly a slow day on the virtual felts, right after an action-packed Sunday. Nonetheless, there were a few things to look forward to. While most of the marquees suffered overlays, Spartan Poker’s Grand Poker Series is going strong, with the Monday flagships comfortably sailing past their advertised guarantees.

The other big attraction, PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” leaderboard, also kicked off last evening and is sure to attract the attention of more and more players as the days go by.

Here is a recap of what went down yesterday!

 

Spartan Poker

Spartan Poker’s primetime tourneys on Monday were headlined by the ₹12 Lakhs GTD GPS#18 ReCharge that logged in 619 entries, generating a guarantee-busting ₹12.38 Lakhs. After running for nearly nine hours, the event finally crowned a champion in mystery user ‘deranzzdd’ who banked the ₹1.98 Lakhs top prize, following a heads-up chop with Rohit ‘ShippingYard’ Mishra (runner-up for ₹1.94 Lakhs). With this win, Mishra now has ₹3 Crores in online winnings.

The ₹6 Lakhs GTD GPS#19 The Flash also had an eventful run as it drew 707 entrants to collect ₹7.07 Lakhs in the prize pool. Yet again, a heads-up deal was struck between the two finalists with ‘downswing4ever’ walking away with the title and top prize of ₹1.14 Lakhs, while Prince ‘WhySoSick’ Kumar settled for a runner-up finish worth ₹1.09 Lakhs.

 

PokerStars India

The PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” leaderboard race got underway on Monday. Players who finish ‘In-The-Money’ (ITM) in any of the two daily MTTs scheduled for 7.30 PM and 10.30 PM from Monday to Saturday, and the 5 PM and 10.30 PM tourneys on Sundays will award points for this leaderboard. The top 25 players each week on the leaderboard will qualify for the finale every month. The top two finishers in the finale will be awarded tournament tickets worth ₹1.50 Lakhs (cumulative) along with other prizes! Read the complete details and current leaderboard standings here.

‘PabloDEscobar’ leads the leaderboard currently with 317 points, with ‘J500PC’ securing the second spot with 224 points. ‘Veer7700’ rounds out the top three places with 183 points.

Headlining the Monday action on PokerStars India was the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Eliminator. With 331 contenders ponying up the ₹1,650 entry fee, it fell approximately three entries short of its guarantee. ‘PabloDEscobar’ championed the tourney for ₹96,544. While a heads-up deal saw ‘J500PC’ secure a second-place payout worth ₹61,012. The victory secured the champion the top spot on the opening day of PokerStars India’s “Star of the Month” leaderboard race.

The second tourney awarding points towards the “Star of the Month” leaderboard was the ₹1 Lakh GTD Bigstack Turbo. A turnout of 111 entries helped generate a prize pool worth ₹1.11 Lakhs. ‘nas131519’ came out on top to win ₹23,706, just as ‘nikpokernoob’ came in second for ₹17,919.

Continuing with the Daan Utsav, PokerStars India hosted the Play For A Cause – Manjhi Development Foundation Charity Special ₹50K GTD yesterday. Pulling in 44 entries, the ₹550 entry buy-in tourney filled in a shortfall of ₹37,900. After nearly three hours of intense play, ‘PK17121984’ topped the field for ₹9,294. Before winning the event, they struck a seven-way deal with ‘durr2020’ (runner-up for ₹8,010), ‘Robert_ford9’ (3rd for ₹9,388), ‘VinayH71’ (4th for ₹4,990), ‘Funter97’ (5th for ₹7,928), ‘Jopay0310’ (6th for ₹5,062) and ‘rkrohan@&’ (7th for ₹5,327).

The Monday staple tournament on PokerBaazi, ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Bout, registered 385 entries, falling ₹37,500 short of the advertised guarantee. The former Millionaire Lite champion Dhinesh ‘dhineshrocky007’ Kumar triumphed over the competition to claim the ₹2.10 Lakhs up-top. Avinash ‘aksinha97’ Kumar finished runner-up for ₹1.47 Lakhs. With ₹1.98 Crores in overall online earnings, Dhinesh Kumar is just a hair’s breadth away from entering the 2 Crore Club.”

The ₹2 Lakhs GTD Monday MegaStack saw ‘Vjrufilo’ run past a 114-entry field to capture the top honors, including a ₹53,600 payday.

 

Adda52

Persisting with the overlay trend, Adda52’s Monday bonanza, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Inception, registered a deficit of ₹24,000 on the back of 305 entries. Rahul ‘rahulpalawat’ Jain took down the event for ₹2.50 Lakhs, after besting ‘sumit1989’ (runner-up for ₹1.51 Lakhs) heads-up. Jain is currently sitting on ₹54.15 Lakhs in lifetime earnings.

The mystery user ‘UDAY44’ juggernaut their way to the top in Adda52’s ₹3.5 Lakhs GTD Hexagram to win ₹99,750. ‘narayanpn’ came in second for ₹66,500. The event locked in 131 entries, overlaying ₹88,000.

Seven hours and forty-two minutes of play later, ‘deranzzdd’ was declared the winner and won ₹1.98 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with Rohit ‘ShippingYard’ Mishra (runner-up for ₹1.94 Lakhs).

Making it to the top of the field and the 8-max FT was Dhinesh ‘dhineshrocky007’ Kumar. Kumar, a former Millionaire Lite champion, pocketed the top prize of ₹2.10 Lakhs and is whiskers close to the ₹2 Crore-mark with ₹1.98 Crores in current online winnings.

Starting a few hours after the ReCharge was the ₹6 Lakhs GTD GPS#19 The Flash. The tourney had 707 runners in the fray that helped generate a guarantee-crushing ₹7.07 Lakhs prize pool.

After agreeing to a heads-up deal, anonymous user ‘downswing4ever’ was the last player left standing and banked their best-recorded score on the site worth ₹1.14 Lakhs.

The winner booked a second FT score on the site yesterday, placing third in the Night Rider – Monster Stack for ₹39,691, taking their total earnings on Spartan Poker to ₹5.68 Lakhs with ₹68,363 in profits.

The runner-up cash prize of ₹1.09 Lakhs went to Prince ‘WhySoSick’ Kumar. This also happens to be Kumar’s best finish on Spartan Poker to date, pushing his lifetime MTT scores over ₹37.34 Lakhs.
