It’s been a consistent trend that the action starts off slow on Monday and gradually picks up the pace through the week. And yesterday again was a relatively low-key affair; the only silver lining was the start of Spartan Poker’s UVS Diwali Edition that will run through November 7. With the first-ever WPT Online India slated to start on November 5, expect fireworks to set off on the virtual felts much before Diwali.
Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker’s Monday signature tourney, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD Recharge, had an eventful run yesterday. Logging in 532 participants, the ₹2,200 entry buy-in tourney comfortably sailed past its advertised guarantee to register a ₹10.64 Lakhs prize pool. Play continued for nearly eight hours, at the end of which ‘Amitj29’ was the last player left standing. The mystery player struck a heads-up deal with Arjun ‘Don Julio’ Singh Kochhar to win their best-recorded score on Spartan Poker worth ₹1.79 Lakhs. Kochhar netted a second-place payout of ₹1.60 Lakhs, touching ₹64.06 Lakhs in recorded online earnings.
Sporting a ₹1,100 entry buy-in, The Flash pulled in 479 entrants that weren’t enough to avoid a shortfall of ₹71,000 on the advertised ₹5.5 Lakhs prize pool guarantee. ‘banjara1’ took down the event for ₹1.07 Lakh, while ‘Redbullwings’ came in second for ₹68,090.
Monday also marked the start of the Ultimate Value Series (UVS): Diwali Edition. This low-mid stakes series is slated to continue until November 7. The series hosted six events yesterday, and the day`s featured tourney was the ₹4.65 Lakhs GTD UVS#6 Monster Stack. Shivam ‘G.O.A.T.’ Shukla shipped the event for ₹93,233, even as ‘Gradatim Ferociter’ finished runner-up for ₹61,985. The ₹1,100 entry buy-in event wrangled in 420 entries to experience an overlay deficit of ₹45,000.
PokerStars India
Leading the charge on PokerStars India was the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Eliminator that pulled in 317 entries, overlaying ₹24,500. ‘ASHUTOSHKUMAR’ came out on top to clinch the title and the top prize of ₹93,496, after defeating Siddharth ‘siddonuts’ Pandey (runner-up for ₹58,012) in heads-up play. All ITM finishers picked up points towards the November “Star of the Month” leaderboard race.
The ₹1,100 entry buy-in ₹1 Lakhs GTD Bigstack Turbo attracted 92 runners (56 unique and 36 re-entries) to suffer an overlay shortfall of ₹8,000. Outlasting the field was one of last week’s toppers on the PokerStars India ‘Star of the Month’ leaderboard race – Umesh ‘dhondu.chilll’ Sharma. Sharma padded his bankroll by ₹22,373 after eliminating Swapnil ‘pokpom1’Patel (runner-up for ₹16,922) in second place.
The Eliminator title helped ‘ASHUTOSHKUMAR’ grab pole position in the Week #1 leaderboard race for November with 415 points. Umesh Sharma (300 points) and Siddharth Pandey (294 points) are currently ranked #2 and #3.
