The virtual felts were brimming with intense tournament action on Thursday as Spartan Poker’s Grand Poker Series (GPS) and PokerStars India`s first-ever India Championship of Online Poker (INCOOP) commenced their scheduled run.

Let’s take a look at the day`s highlights.

Spartan Poker

Spartan Poker’s Grand Poker Series (GPS) has returned for its third edition, and the opening day of the series witnessed exciting action across a well-rounded tournament lineup. The featured tourney of the day, the ₹25 Lakhs GTD Grand Ultron, had 438 entries in the fray – enough to collect a profitable ₹28.04 Lakhs prize pool. Shivam ‘G.O.A.T’ Shukla championed the tourney to win a personal-best ₹4.73 Lakhs. He struck a heads-up deal with Madhab ‘madhabpal2017’ Pal, who claimed the runner-prize of ₹4.11 Lakhs. The Thursday night victory has taken Shukla`s online tally over ₹57 Lakhs!

The final table was a stacked affair with seasoned players like Manish ‘potlords’ Gandhi (4th for ₹1.94 Lakhs), Raman ‘tathagat’ Gujral (5th for ₹1.52 Lakhs), Sanat ‘avneed’ Mehrotra (7th for ₹90,008), and Arjun ‘lol this guy’ Pasricha (8th for ₹63,931) in contention.

In the ₹10 Lakhs GTD GPS #4 Monster Stack, ‘ImLegend’ stormed past a 592-entry field and beat ‘Roohdaar’ (2nd for ₹1.68 Lakhs) heads-up to capture the title for ₹2.06 Lakhs.

The ₹1 Crore GTD GPS The Millionaire begins today with the first of its four starting flights. Day 2 plays out on Sunday, so the weekend has all the bearing of being action-packed!

PokerBaazi

Headlining the Thursday schedule on PokerBaazi was the ₹20 Lakhs GTD Summit. With a buy-in of ₹8,250, the tournament accumulated a profitable prize pool of ₹23.1 Lakhs after 308 entrants signed up to play. It took nearly eight hours for a winner to emerge, and walking past a host of tough opponents was Young Gun Arsh ‘Button_Hai_Bro’ Grover. Grover squared off with Arjunn ‘MaalChaHee’ Agrawal (runner-up for ₹3.58 Lakhs) heads-up to add a sizeable ₹5.10 Lakhs to his bankroll.

The profitable run saw the Delhi-based pro cross the benchmark ₹5 Crore-mark in online winnings. Grover has also climbed up in the annual rankings, where he is currently placed second – his 2020 tally improving to ₹2.63 Crores and counting!

The #1 ranked player in the country, Young Gun Gaurav ‘gaug17’ Sood (3rd for ₹2.3 Lakhs), Rishab ‘ryuk’ Malik (6th for ₹1.02 Lakhs), Young Gun Ujjwal ‘Mr_Robot’ Narwal (7th for ₹85,010), Siddhanth ‘ender’ Kripalani (8th for ₹68,150) and Gaurav ‘kira1545’ Kaul (9th for ₹51,050) rounded out what was a fiercely competitive final table in The Summit.

Sood may have missed out on a title victory last night but banked ₹4.40 Lakhs for his exploits. He FT-ed two tourneys with the other deep run coming in the Godfather on Adda52, where he finished 4th for ₹2.10 Lakhs.

sabur’ was the other prominent winner on PokerBaazi. He championed the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Thursday MonsterStack for ₹1.21 Lakhs after outlasting 190 entries. Sanish ‘Sanish21’ Chhabra’ finished runner-up for ₹84,650.

Adda52

The week’s biggest draw on Adda52 – the ₹1 Crore GTD Full House – commenced proceedings last night with the first of its six starting flights. Day 1A registered 192 contenders that included 116 unique players and 76 re-entries. Only 21 players made it to Day 2 with Alankar Carrick16’ Choudhary (314,671), ‘Janhavi5685’ (244,204), and Sanish ‘sanish21’ Chhabra (220,239) bagging the top three stacks of the day.

The other headliner was the ₹30 Lakhs GTD Godfather. The ₹5,500 entry buy-in tourney logged in 575 entries, falling ₹1.25 Lakhs short of its posted guarantee.

‘Aj_style19’ proved the last player standing and walked away with the top prize of ₹7.05 Lakhs after defeating Dhirendra Dhiru006’ Kumar heads-up. This is the mystery player`s best-recorded score on Adda52, and their overall earnings on the site have reached ₹9.67 Lakhs with a net profit of ₹6.13 Lakhs.

Kumar, who had finished fourth in the AOPS Mini Main Event for ₹5.75 Lakhs less than a month ago, added another ₹4.11 Lakhs to his bankroll for finishing runner-up.

Anshul ‘Anshbag’ Bagai was the other prominent winner on the site. He topped 197 entries to win the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Table for 6 for ₹1.39 Lakhs.

PokerStars India

It`s action time at PokerStars India that has rolled out its biggest-ever tournament series to date. We are talking about the first edition of the India Championship of Online Poker (INCOOP) – the India version of the WCOOP – that promises a whopping ₹9.05 Crore in guaranteed prize money across the 205-event schedule.

The biggest guaranteed tourney on Thursday was the ₹30 Lakhs GTD INCOOP -06 Highroller. An entry field of 216 players in the event resulted in a ₹84,000 shortfall. The field whittled down to an epic heads-up showdown between Young Gun Anuj ‘brockLesnar95’ Yadav and Chandigarh-based PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ Ahuja. Yadav couldn’t have hoped for a better ending, as he eliminated Ahuja in second place to win the title. The 24-year old whose online scorecard across the major domestic sites was ₹1.75 Crore before the win, helped himself to a ₹5.89 Lakhs payout for the win.

Though denied the title, Ahuja pocketed ₹4.33 Lakhs for placing second. He has now jumped up one place to #6 on the annual leaderboard.

The other big earners in the event were Vishnu ‘violator2018’ Khandelwal (4th for ₹2,35,460), Akshay powershell42′ Asawa (5th for ₹1,73,446), and PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved (7th for ₹94,114).
