Tournament action brought on the usual flagships across the major domestic poker sites, with Adda52’s Nano Poker Series Main Event continuing to expand its field.

Let’s take a quick look at how Thursday went for players.

Spartan Poker

Spartan Poker’s biggest Thursday attraction, the ₹4,400 entry buy-in ₹18 Lakhs GTD Ultron, began proceedings at 8 PM, drawing 427 runners to the fold. The tourney overlayed ₹92,000, and the top 39 places earned a share of the prize pool. Lakhotia, a former IOPC Millionaire United champion, has been on a hot run this month. He had claimed his second Millionaire title in the ₹1 Crore GTD The Millionaire Warm-up on December 6 for a personal-best ₹17.03 Lakhs, making last night`s Highroller victory his third flagship title of the month. Last night, he also final tabled Adda52`s Monster Turbo for ₹21,250, banking over ₹2.50 Lakhs for the day, crossing ₹5.28 Crores in recorded MTT earnings.

The runner-up finisher, ‘smokebutt15,’ had placed third in this same event on October 30 for ₹1.42 Lakhs. They did one better yesterday to post a runner-up score worth ₹1.72 Lakhs.

Moving over to the 9:30 PM Battle Royale, the ₹5 Lakhs GTD tourney had to fill in an overlay shortfall of ₹17,500 after registering 193 entries. Day 1D mustered 295 runners, and after 29 eight-minute levels, only 41 players progressed to Day 2. The site`s ₹25 Lakhs GTD Godfather logged in 456 entries, overlaying a significant ₹2.20 Lakhs. The tournament played out just short of nine hours, with the former Millionaire LITE champion, Sreekanth ‘n0thing’ Narayan, claiming the title. Narayan denied reigning annual leaderboard topper, Young Gun Gaurav ‘gauravarod’ Sood, the bragging rights before pocketing the ₹6.12 Lakhs up-top.

For Narayan, this is his first major title in over three months. He had last won PokerBaazi’s The Endeavour on September 15 for ₹3.04 Lakhs. While Narayan has banked numerous FT scores since – yesterday’s win has pushed his lifetime record over ₹2.42 Crores.

The undisputed #1 ranked player of the year, Sood, put up another applause-worthy performance last night. He FT-ed an impressive three tourneys that included a runner-up finish in the Godfather for ₹3.62 Lakhs, third-place in PokerStars India’s Highroller for ₹1.30 Lakhs, and another third-place finish in the site’s Battle Royale for ₹49,088, earning well over ₹5.50 Lakhs on Thursday. With over ₹4.44 Crores in recorded earnings for the year already, he is all but assured to close out 2020 ranked #1 on the charts.

The ₹5 Lakhs GTD Monster Turbo drew 209 hopefuls, overlaying ₹29,750. Chiraag ‘vipervenom’ Patel proved the last player standing and won ₹1.37 Lakhs after vanquishing ‘rg912’ (2nd for ₹81,250) in heads-up play.

PokerBaazi

Firing up the primetime 8 PM slot at PokerBaazi was the site`s ₹15 Lakhs GTD The Summit. The tourney registered 190 entries, to bear an overlay burden of ₹75,000. Cutting her way through the reg-laden field was Young Gun Kanchan ‘Kanchansharma’ Sharma, who defeated Dishvish’ (runner-up for ₹2.54 Lakhs) heads-up to win ₹3.62 Lakhs.

Kanchan Sharma
Kanchan Sharma

Sharma has been on an uptick recently. On November 24, she finished fourth in the ₹2 Crores GTD FTS Main Event for a personal-best ₹13.79 Lakhs. She had a near-miss in the ₹12 Lakhs GTD Millionaire Series#13 last Friday, where she placed runner-up for ₹1.45 Lakhs. On Sunday, Sharma shipped Adda52’s ₹12.5 Lakhs GTD Big Slick for ₹2.34 Lakhs. Sharma currently boasts of over ₹1.87 Crores in recorded earnings, but looking at how this 26-year old is playing, she may very well cross the ₹2 Crore-mark before the end of the year.

The 9 PM Special ₹4 Lakhs GTD Thursday DeepStack brought in 148 entries, resulting in an overlay shortfall of ₹30,000. For the second consecutive day, Suhas N. ‘skullkiker’ Yadav beat the field to win ₹1.03 Lakhs. Rajneesh ‘msdhoni’ Thakur came in second for ₹72,120.
