Fridays are always packed to the brim with massive GTD tourneys, but yesterday was especially busy! While PokerBaazi`s EndBoss Day 1C got most of the attention, Spartan Poker was the other platform that attracted the tournament crowd with its ongoing Spartan Super Series that also had the paused Thursday flagships playing down to a winner.
The biggest draw of the day was Spartan Poker’s SSS #55 Super High Roller ₹65 Lakhs GTD that was rolling over from Thursday. The tourney brought in all the top regs, counting 155 entries (101 unique, 28 re-entries and 26 rebuys) in total, making for ₹77.50 Lakhs in prize money. The tournament had to be paused on Thursday night because of a technical issue and resumed play at 9 PM last night. As expected, the final table lineup read like a roll call of some of the most accomplished players on the circuit. In the end, it was Young Gun Ujjwal ‘Lord Hendrix’ Narwal who came out on top to win ₹19.49 Lakhs after beating out the formidable Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal (runner-up for ₹13.17 Lakhs) heads-up. Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo (3rd for ₹8.33 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘TheInternetKid’ Ved (4th for ₹7.09 Lakhs), Sanket ‘GHOSTF@CE’ Arora (5th for ₹5.71 Lakhs), Neel ‘Worm33’ Joshi (6th for ₹4.51 Lakhs), Abhinav ‘Schumi91’ Iyer (7th for ₹3.27 Lakhs) and Anurag ‘Norman Bates’ Srivastava (9th for ₹1.93 Lakhs) were the other FT finishers.
It was an eventful Friday night was Ved, who, in addition to his fourth-place finish in the SSS Super High Roller, posted another fourth-place finish in Adda52`s The Ballers. The deep run fetched him ₹2.39 Lakhs getting him close to a million in total winnings last night.
Spartan’s signature Friday tourney, the SSS #63 The Elite ₹50 Lakhs GTD, attracted 550 entries (253 unique, 132 re-entries, and 165 rebuys). While this meant that the ₹55 Lakhs prize pool was enough to blow away the advertised guarantee, making a podium finish for the second time this week was seasoned reg Anant ‘Pro’ Purohit. Purohit has been on a trailblazing run this year and is fast approaching the ₹4.5 crore-mark in lifetime online winnings. Just two days back, he had won the Highroller on PokerStars India. This time, Purohit had to fire three bullets before he succeeded in his title aspirations. In the heads-up play, he defeated ‘haayegarmi’ to claim the top prize of ₹10.67 Lakhs. If that wasn’t enough, Purohit (316,000) bagged one of the top stacks on Day 1C of the EndBoss!
Incidentally, WSOP star Iyer, who had final tabled the SSS Super High Roller, went on to FT at least two other flagship tourneys last night. He finished eighth in The Elite for ₹1.29 Lakhs and took fifth place in PokerStars India’s Uppercut MAGIC Edition for ₹50,575.
Over at SSS #54 Ultron ₹35 lakhs GTD, Siddhartha ‘siddyk20’ Khandelwal bested a field of 879 entries (408 unique, 141 re-entries and 330 rebuys) to win the top prize of ₹4.45 Lakhs. This is the first major tournament title for Khandelwal, who has been playing tournaments for almost a year. Looking at the payouts, it seems that Khandelwal struck a five-way deal with ‘kabira speaking’ (2nd for ₹3.47 Lakhs), ‘blastabomber’ (3rd for ₹3.46 Lakhs), ‘waghoneblood$’ (4th for ₹3.46 Lakhs) and ‘mickyn34’ (5th for ₹3.35 Lakhs).
Fridays are also when the TGIF ₹15 Lakhs GTD returns for its weekly run on Spartan Poker. Yesterday night, the tourney registered 1,204 entries, blowing well past the break-even point and generating a ₹18.06 Lakhs prize pool. Bharat ‘bharat29’ Kumar took down the title to win ₹2.56 Lakhs following a three-way deal with Kunal ‘TiltAtma’ Patni (2nd for ₹2.39 Lakhs) and Avash ‘cateyes’ Shah (3rd for ₹2.05 Lakhs). Runner-up Patni posted another FT finish in the SSS#56 Big Bounty, where he finished seventh for ₹35,970.
Upcoming talent Srihari ‘bangbang1999’ Bang was another standout performer on Friday. While he championed the SSS#56 Big Bounty ₹8.50 Lakhs GTD to win ₹2.24 Lakhs, he also final-tabled the PokerStars India Uppercut MAGIC Edition (8th for ₹36,505).
Moving over to the tournament that has the entire community talking, PokerBaazi’s End Boss ₹5 Crores GTD played out its penultimate starting flight yesterday. Day 1C logged in 1,374 entries that included 870 unique and 504 re-entries. Topping the 155 survivors at the end of the flight was Manish ‘manamish’ Yadav, who bagged 465,000 in chips, with ‘lallantap123’ (395,000) and ‘kidplay’ (389,000) rounding out the top three stacks.
PokerBaazi`s Friday Mini ₹3 Lakhs GTD PKO played out amid 207 runners (130 unique and 77 re-entries) and culminated after ‘rebetshove’ defeated ‘redsniper11′ (2nd for ₹52,570) heads-up to win ₹74,990 in first-place prize money.
Over at Adda52, The Ballers ₹17 Lakhs GTD registered 238 unique players, and 229 re-entries, that made for a 467-player field; amounting to a ₹31.98 Lakhs prize pool. Well-known reg Aman ‘amankej’ Kejriwal topped the competition and struck a heads-up deal with Vaibhav ‘vane_shado’ Temani (runner-up for ₹6.20 Lakhs) to win ₹6.27 Lakhs. Temani has been enjoying a good run at the virtual felts as it was only on Thursday that he had championed the Afternoon Showdown at Spartan Poker to win ₹1.69 Lakhs.
The Ballers FT had more than a few familiar faces on it. The EndBoss Day 1C chip leader, Yadav, finished third for ₹3.19 Lakhs. Incidentally, Sanat Mehrotra, who bagged one of the top stacks on Day 1B of the EndBoss, finished seventh for ₹87,971. Mehrotra posted an FT finish in the SSS#56 Big Bounty (9th for ₹23,532) as well.
Dharamveer ‘dvcoolster’ Singh Chouhan was another big Friday winner on Adda52 as he outlasted a 189-strong field (107 unique and 82 re-entries) to win the Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.04 Lakhs.
At PokerStars India, the Uppercut MAGIC Edition ₹10 Lakhs GTD crowned a champion in Swarang ‘Heisenberg6291’ Tanksali, who outran the 337-entry field (180 unique and 157 re-entries) and his heads-up opponent
Sasi ‘sasikiranx’ Kiran (runner-up for ₹1.40 LakhS) to win ₹2.33 Lakhs.
The other big-ticket tourney on the site, the Fast Friday ₹5 Lakhs GTD, saw ‘raghav1990’ claim the top honors and a ₹81,783 payday after sailing past a field of 192 entries (114 unique and 78 re-entries). The winner made a heads-up deal with ‘heisenber942’ (2nd for ₹82,013).
