It was an explosive start to the weekend with the major online platforms coming out with some big-ticket tournaments on Friday. First up was Spartan Poker’s December edition of The Millionaire Legends ₹2 Crores GTD. The tournament-centric brand has brought back the higher buy-in variant of its flagship Millionaire tournament, and this time the first starting flight, Day 1A, clocked in 271 entries (182 unique, 47 re-entries and 42 re-buys). Online phenom Sriharsha ‘Fish2050’ Doddapaneni topped the field, bagging the most massive stack of 5.11 Million by the end of the night. On his heels were ‘Barbadaadmi’ (4,86,889) and Pulkit Championplayer’ Goyal (4,26,867), who rounded out the top three stacks.

Doddapaneni has done well for himself and built a reputation on the back of numerous deep runs both live and online with more than a few international scores. Back in October, he had bagged the Day 1A chip lead in the SSS The Millionaire ₹1 Crore GTD where he had ultimately finished 19th for ₹87,210. Some of his recent exploits include winning Spartan Poker’s Hi-Fi ₹6 Lakhs GTD on December 4 and 9stacks’ Thunder @8PM ₹5 Lakhs GTD on November 28.

Besides The Millionaire Legends, the regular fare at Spartan Poker saw The Elite ₹25 Lakhs GTD making its weekly run. A popular tournament, The Elite, brought in 273 entries (121 unique, 75 re-entries and 77 re-buys), generating ₹27.30 Lakhs in the prize pool. Tournament regular ‘propernit’ came out on top to win ₹6.04 Lakhs in prize money, following a heads-up battle with online crusher Vaibhav ‘Nikka Zaildar’ Sharma, who pocketed a second-place payout of ₹4.08 Lakhs.

Sharma was, without a doubt, the breakthrough performer yesterday. In addition to his runner-up finish in The Elite, he came out all guns blazing in 9stacks’ The Dragon Hold’em High ₹10 Lakhs GTD and clinched the title for a ₹2.90 Lakhs paycheque. He also final tabled PokerBaazi’s Fri-Yay ₹4 Lakhs GTD, placing seventh for ₹18,760 and scored in Spartan Poker’s TGIF ₹10 Lakhs GTD, finishing 45th for ₹4,830. The latter event, i.e., TGIF crowned a champion in yet another well-known pro, Raghav ‘thatssosick’ Bansal. The Delhi-based pro traversed a field of 700 runners (302 unique, 119 re-entries, and 279 re-buys) to take home ₹2.03 Lakhs.

Notably, both Bansal (1,64,695) and Sharma (1,30,546) bagged a stack for Day 2 in Spartan Poker`s The Millionaire Legends.

While Spartan Poker has been the frontrunner in hosting massive tournaments, PokerBaazi isn’t far behind. The site’s PokerBaazi Monthly Value Series (PMVS) launched its Main Event ₹50 Lakhs GTD on December 4. Featuring a buy-in of ₹3,300, Flight 1A logged in 343 entries (196 unique and 147 re-entries), with ‘pocketjs’ accruing the most massive stack of 478,946. Flight 1B played out last night and attracted 357 entries (196 unique and 147 re-entries). Himanshu ‘pokerbrat7’ Arora took pole position with a stack of 515,427.

The other marquee event on PokerBaazi, the PMVS #11 ₹20 Lakhs GTD registered 216 entries (107 unique and 109 re-entries), resulting in a massive ₹3.80 Lakhs shortfall. Anant ‘Pro_Pro’ Purohit, who has been on a breakout run, yet again came out on top, this time collecting ₹4.70 Lakhs in first-place prize money.

Another Friday signature event that suffered an overlay was Adda52’s The Ballers ₹15 Lakhs GTD. Taking advantage of the ₹1.16 Lakhs shortfall, Rishi ‘ronaldo94’ Mundhra juggernaut his way to the top to win ₹4.17 Lakhs.
