Friday saw the top regs dominating the action. PokerGuru Ambassadors kept the winning streak going with Kartik Ved banking the single-largest score of the day! The next two days across the Independence weekend promise to be even bigger with flagships like the UVS Millionaire Lite, PPL The MoneyMaker, and the AOPS Main Event. For now, let’s take a look at the highlights from yesterday.
The featured tourney of Friday was ₹35 Lakhs GTD The Elite. It registered 372 entries to comfortably stride past the guarantee with a prize pool collection of ₹37.20 Lakhs. The tourney came to a close after a heads-up deal that saw ‘Paperboi’ winning the title and ₹7.16 Lakhs. Online phenom Anant ‘Pro’ Purohit placed runner-up for ₹6 Lakhs. Purohit is ranked #2 on the fiercely contested annual leaderboard charts with a little over ₹2.40 Crores in earnings.
PokerGuru Ambassador`s Rony ‘ChipTricks’ Chowdhury (3rd for ₹3.73 Lakhs), and Ashish ‘Donkey 07’ Munot (4th for ₹3.03 Lakhs), along with the #1 ranked player on the weekly/monthly leaderboard Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra (6th for ₹1.82 Lakhs), and Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall (8th for ₹97,092) FT-ed the tourney!
The showstopper tourney of the Ultimate Value Series, the ₹35 Lakhs GTD The Millionaire Lite, flagged off yesterday with the first of its three starting flights. Day 1A registered 665 runners who ponied up the 1,650 buy-in and only 58 players advanced to Day 2. The chip leader emerged in Sathish ‘Jaqkten’ Ananth, who bagged 242,812 in chips. ‘KOF’ (213,527) and ‘Ziigmund1’ (189,549) advanced with the next top stacks.
The ₹12 Lakhs GTD TGIF was championed by Arun ‘arungeo95’ George, who pocketed ₹1.77 Lakhs after a three-way deal with Ravi ‘Rvjn91’ Jain (runner-up for ₹1.63 Lakhs) and ‘monzzard910’ (3rd for ₹1.45 Lakhs). This was George’s second-biggest score on the site and helped take his earnings on Spartan Poker to ₹14.54 Lakhs.
The ₹550 buy-in, ₹10 Lakhs GTD UVS Velocity, played out its fourth and last starting flight on Friday. The tourney registered an overlay once again as Day 1D could only muster 430 entries, and 37 players survived. ‘MansaMusa’ (195,695), ‘neatvat’ (148,724), and ‘99TYPHOON77’ (145,209) bagged the top three stacks in the flight. Day 2 will begin today with 129 runners (including multiple stacks) in contention.
The ₹5 Lakhs GTD UVS #23 Monster Stack was championed by Kiran ‘KingAA’ Kumar. The winner collected ₹85,792 following a three-way deal with Gaurav ‘micandi’ Raj (2nd for ₹70,113) and ‘Hurricane-chan’ (3rd for ₹68,152).
Friday ran the Day 8 schedule of the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL). The biggest guaranteed tournament on the roster was the ₹15 Lakhs GTD PPL#48 The Ridge. A packed turnout of 568 entries ensured a profitable ₹17.04 Lakhs prize pool. Outlasting the reg-laden field was M Keerthi ‘pokerkid08’ Kumar, who won ₹3.22 Lakhs. This was Kumar’s third-best score on the site pushing his overall winnings on PokerBaazi to ₹10.93 Lakhs.
Young Gun Anmol ‘anzzzzz’ Mehta placed runner-up for ₹2.26 Lakhs. Ranked #17 on the yearly leaderboard, Mehta currently sits with ₹2.34 Crores in recorded online winnings.
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD PPL#47 was taken down by Bharat ‘Thinkfloyd’ Vasan, who collected his first PPL title and ₹2.21 Lakhs. Nishaanth ‘shanni’ Shanmughasundaram finished runner-up for ₹1.55 Lakhs. The event logged in 271 entrants to post an overlay of ₹1.87 Lakhs and the top 36 places were paid. The runner-up Shanmughasundaram posted a second FT score yesterday. He placed 9th in PPL#50 PLO DST to win an additional ₹13,748.
Rounding out the list of prominent winners at the PPL was the in-form Gautam ‘M8a7’ Rohilla. The Gurgaon-based online reg extended his winner form by taking down the ₹5 Lakhs GTD PPL#50 PLO DST for ₹1.38 Lakhs. Anish ‘THENUTS’ Suri finished runner-up for ₹96,584.
Rohilla now boasts of six PPL titles, all at the ongoing series, and four of them he has won this week. His online tally has reached ₹79.44 Lakhs, and his winning record includes:

The star attraction of the week, the ₹2.5 Crore GTD AOPS Main Event, played out two more starting flights yesterday, Day 1D and Day 1E. Day 1D logged in 88 entrants, and only 8 survived the day’s onslaught. Anonymous user ‘Eurekaaira’ bagged the biggest stack of 340,442 chips. The player was followed by Shashank ‘felter’ Jain (283,625) and Deepak ‘orionn7’ Raina (235,629) with the next top stacks.
Day 1E did significantly better with 204 entries, and after 29 ten-minute levels, only 21 survivors made it across to Day 2. Leading them was Ankur ‘aceleration’ Sehgal (315,950), with Prabhat ‘nagarbhavininja’ Kiran Mukherjea (309,530) and Shekhar ‘Brat_Poker’ Singh (287,909) carrying forward the next top stacks.
The ₹50 Lakhs GTD AOPS Holdem High Roller fell six entries short of its guarantees after attracting 194 entries. PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘Pegasus1505’ Ved was the last player standing in the field and won his first-ever AOPS title in style by banking a personal-best ₹14 Lakhs. This massive score has catapulted Ved`s lifetime record to ₹4.28 Crores.
Ved outmaneuvered a bevy of notables on the final table. This included players like Sumit ‘hammer_head’ Sapra (runner-up for ₹8.40 Lakhs), PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish ‘rocky3705’ Ahuja (3rd for ₹6.35 Lakhs), Vaibhav ‘alienrobot’ Sharma (4th for ₹4.50 Lakhs), Tarun ‘aggtarun’ Goyal (5th for ₹3.13 Lakhs), Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma (6th for ₹2.25 Lakhs), Ankur ‘aceleration’ Sehgal (7th for ₹1.88 Lakhs), Uttam ‘chinunew’ Kumar Sinha (8th for ₹1.38 Lakhs), and Anurag ‘sangahi’ Sangahi (9th for ₹1.13 Lakhs).
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD AOPS NLHE clocked in 507 entries to collect ₹11.53 Lakhs in the prize pool. After seven hours of play, Goonjan ‘gmtesting’ Mall outlasted the competition to win ₹2.77 Lakhs. Abhishek ‘thegrinder’ Garg finished runner-up for ₹1.61 Lakhs. Mall posted a second FT finish in Spartan Poker’s The Elite, placing eighth for ₹97,092. These two scores helped boost Mall`s online record to ₹4.67 Crores.
PokerStars India ran its Friday flagship Uppercut Magic Edition with a reduced ₹10 Lakhs GTD. Even then, the site has to fill in an overlay. With 221 entries ponying up the ₹4,400 buy-in, the site booked a loss of ₹1.16 Lakhs. Young Gun Arsh ‘BiggggTymeR’ Grover ran over the field to win the title and ₹1.89 Lakhs (₹88,731 in prize money and ₹100,562 in bounties).
Grover is one of the ten players sitting with over ₹2 Crores in earnings in 2020. He is ranked #3 on the annual leaderboard with ₹2.36 Crores in earnings, and his lifetime online scorecard is fast-approaching the magical ₹5 Crore figure. The in-form Rishab ‘NoChan(3’ Malik finished runner-up for ₹1.31 Lakhs (₹88,730 in prize money and ₹41,813 in bounties).
The ₹5 Lakhs GTD Friday Euphoria, like the Uppercut, registered a landslide ₹80,000 overlay on the back of 168 entries. Myron ‘khAAbib’ Pereira was the last player standing and won ₹86,357 after a heads-up deal with Pranav ‘pkpok13’ Khandalkar (runner-up for ₹80,598).
