Spartan Poker
The biggest event on the sixth day of the IOPC series, the ₹35 Lakhs GTD Mega Stack, logged in 1,320 entries, to cruise past it’s listed guarantee and accrued ₹39.60 Lakhs in the prize pool. It took nearly 10 hours for the event to crown a champion, and in the end, it was the mystery player ‘Jhumroo’ who whisked the title away from Young Gun and former Millionaire Legends champion Devang ‘equity_hunter’ Yadav. The latter had a commanding 8:1 chip lead in heads-up, but a system crash cost him the title and almost ₹3 Lakhs as ‘Jhumroo’ walked away with a ₹7.39 Lakhs top prize, while Yadav had to make do with ₹4.49 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
The other primetime tourney, the ₹12 Lakhs GTD IOPC #40, registered 1,028 entries to collect a guarantee-busting prize pool worth ₹15.42 Lakhs. ‘bluffer’ traversed the field to win the title for ₹2.24 Lakhs after a three-way deal with ‘ephemeral’ (runner-up for ₹2.09 Lakhs) and Vishnu ‘violator’ Khandelwal (3rd for ₹1.77 Lakhs).
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD IOPC #41 Destiny IOPC Edition garnered a 693-strong field Former Millionaire winner Pulkit ‘Championplayer’ Goyal emerged victorious and claimed the lion’s share of the ₹13.86 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹3.54 Lakhs. The field whittled down to a heads-up between Sandeep ‘effuno007’ Varma and ‘iAlwaysWIN007.’ Eventually, it was the latter who clinched the title for ₹1.47 Lakhs. Varma banked the runner-up prize worth ₹1.07 Lakhs. Varma’s last six-figure score dates back to June 8, when he had finished runner-up in the Sunday Highroller for ₹2.94 Lakhs. The headliner on Spartan Poker last night, the ₹35 Lakhs GTD IOPC Mega Stack, kept the ongoing IOPC series’ guarantee-smashing record intact by comfortably sailing past the listed guarantee. After 1,320 entries were counted with each ponying up the ₹3,300 buy-in, the tourney gathered a massive ₹39.60 Lakhs prize pool.
With only the top 127 places assured payouts, the race to the title was fierce. The heads-up play took place between the anonymous player ‘Jhumroo’ and Young Gun Devang ‘equity_hunter’ Yadav. The former Millionaire Legends champion had an 8:1 chip lead in the finale, but his computer crashed, logging him out of the game. He tried to login using his mobile but entered the password incorrectly three times for a 10 mins sit-out period. Those ten minutes cost him dearly – ₹3 Lakhs and the title to be exact – as by the time he could get back in the tournament, he was staring at a 3:1 chip deficit. Yadav ended up conceding the title to ‘Jhumroo,’ who took home ₹7.39 Lakhs as the top prize. Yadav collected ₹4.49 Lakhs for his runner-up finish.
Suraj ‘soorajtodi’ Todi (3rd for ₹3.16 Lakhs), Sanat ‘avneed’ Mehrotra (4th for ₹2.37 Lakhs), and Gaurav ‘NuttieGuttie’ Ashok Jaiin (6th for ₹1.40 Lakhs) FT-ed the tourney!
