Dangal Games that operate real-money platform’s PokerDangal and RummyDangal has raised $1 Million (approx. ₹7.30 Crores) in a ‘Series A’ funding round from an undisclosed strategic investor. This is the second time Dangal Games has picked up funding. In August 2018, the company had raised an undisclosed amount from a clutch of investors.
The gaming company plans to utilize the funds to expand its business’s technical capabilities, tailor it as a “more appealing & suitable user experience, and make Dangal Games a go-to platform for every e-gaming enthusiast,” mentioned the company in a press release.
Outlining the brand’s immediate plans, Karan Gandhi, co-founder of Dangal Games, said, “We are still prioritizing the goals we need to achieve. But, an utmost friendly user experience at Dangal Games is what we aim to lead the industry. Users will be served with a modernistic, snappy & a promotion loaded platform they wouldn’t resist enjoying.”
Dangal Games launched in 2017 with the online poker site PokerDangal. Karan Gandhi, Varun Mahna, Varun Puri, Shashwat Jain, and Manan Sobti are its founding members.
Giving more details, Gandhi said, “Because our existing product PokerDangal is reckoned among India’s profound online poker platforms, we have planned to revamp it & its official application with a more dapper UI & ergonomic UX.”
It’s worth noting that the PokerDangal had launched a new mobile app in August last year in a move considered the most significant upgrade for the platform since launch. As Gandhi said, the brand plans further to upgrade the app with better UI/UX capabilities. The company also plans to diversify into other verticals by launching a Casual Gaming vertical in the next quarter. It also seeks to enter the Fantasy Gaming sector before the next IPL season.
Dangal Games – A Steady Growth
Since its launch in 2017, Dangal Games has, through its primary offering, PokerDangal, established itself among the small to mid-stakes poker community.
PokerDangal was recognized among the 10 best eSports start-ups of 2019 by Silicon India start-up city magazine. It also happens to be one of the first domestic online poker sites to roll out a player-friendly TDS policy.
PokerDangal underwent one of its most significant upgrades in August 2020, with the launch of a new mobile app, which rolled out a ton of new features, most notably giving the site the ability to host multi-flight/ multi-day tournaments.
By adding RummyDangal to its portfolio in the last quarter of 2020, Dangal Games made a significant move towards increasing its offerings.
The company claims to have a registered user base of over 5 Lakh players across PokerDangal and RummyDangal.
Clearly, the company also recognizes the need to improve its UX/UI interface further to retain players. With the infusion of funds, it now has the financial backing to gain a stronger foothold in the fiercely competitive market!
