For those who are playing poker but struggling with many nuances of the technique and skills involved, Daniel Negreanu (cover image) has much to teach. The six-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner will hold online video sessions on poker under the banner of Masterclass – an internationally renowned online education platform.
Coming onto Masterclass that was founded in 2015, Negreanu joins the likes of accomplished stars and experts from different walks of life, including Garry Kasparov, Serena Williams, Gordon Ramsay, Armin Van Buuren, DeadMau5, Marc Jacobs, Christina Aguilera, Usher, Thomas Keller, Martin Scorsese, Aaron Sorkin, and Samuel L Jackson who all have taken online video lessons on themes related to their specialization.
“There are a lot of teaching sites within poker but this was an opportunity to expand the game to a wider audience.MasterClass is the most high-end production of any program like it. If you look at who is associated with it, it seemed like a no-brainer,” Negreanu said, after joining the Masterclass bandwagon.
Sounds good! The highest earning poker player of all time has launched his course with seven lessons first, focusing on topics ranging from tournament strategy to betting techniques, bluffing and hand ranges.
Following the first week’s video lessons, more lessons will be rolled out soon, to also touch upon topics like cash games and online play. The course will run beyond 33 videos that can be downloaded in form of an online class workbook and students will have the opportunity to bounce off ideas with Negreanu, who will interact and answer selected questions.
Co-founder and CEO of MasterClass David Rogier feels Negreanu is the perfect choice as a poker coach.
“Poker is an intellectual endeavor that Daniel has mastered over decades playing at the highest level through disciplined focus, hard work, and by honing his unique ability to read his opponents,” Rogier said, adding, “With this class, we’re excited to give students access to a comprehensive analysis of tournament strategy from the most successful live tournament player of all time.”
However, Negreanu’s lessons aren’t for absolute beginners.
If you don’t know how to play poker it’ll probably be far too advanced for you,” he said. “If you are intermediate, struggling or learning; it’s certainly something that can help elevate your game. I would say for a rank beginner they need to get an understanding of the game before they can take it on,” Negreanu explained.
So far, the feedback to his Masterclass lessons has been really good and if it leads up to that, he may take up a second or third, more advanced course subsequently. All in all, poker enthusiasts can bank on learning first-class poker techniques and entering the in-depth realm of the game, with Negreanu instructing them along the way!
