The first event of the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Xpress February Edition – ₹5K Burn N Turn Event – is now in the books! Hosted for the very first time on-board the fabulous Casino Deltin Royale, the event registered a field of 197 entries (94 unique entries, 41 re-buys, 62 add-ons) posting a prize pool of ₹9.17 Lakhs.

The turbo event saw eliminations take place, left, right, and center, from the get-go. Despite having a delayed start due to feeder-related issues, the event kicked off at 6.20 PM, and the final table was formed even before the clock struck midnight. The ten-handed final table was quickly reduced to just five players, and the remaining players quickly shook hands on a five-way ICM deal. Rajat Singh secured himself the fattest payday of ₹1.58 Lakhs. Dhaval Doshi (₹1.37 Lakhs), Clinton Fernandes (₹1.28 Lakhs), Anish Juwarkar (₹1.08 Lakhs) and Karan Mehta (₹98,200) divided the remainder of the prize money.

Once the deal was set in place with only the trophy left in play, it took about 20 minutes for Anish Juwarkar (cover image) to capture the title! A Management Consultant by profession, Juwarkar had won his seat in the event through an online satellite. Juwarkar has over a decade’s worth of experience playing the game and has more than a few deep runs on his resume. In fact, he had final tabled two events at the last DPT Xpress edition. He had finished sixth in the ₹10K Bounty for ₹35,000 and placed fifth in the ₹15K Main Event for ₹1.45 Lakhs.

Juwarkar had started off as one of the shortest stacks on the final table but quickly found a monster double up through Anuj Laddhad. After that, he went on to eliminate Niyut Shah, Dhaval Doshi, and Karan Mehta, before facing Rajat Singh in the heads-up confrontation. Here too, Juwarkar had started off as the shorter stack but made his way to the top, ultimately toppling Singh to clinch his first-ever DPT title!

Talking about his victory, Juwarkar later said, “It feels great, I final tabled last twice in the last DPT express – ME and Bounty event at Deltin Jack. But this time, I am happy as I improved, and I am going back with the trophy.”

Commenting on the final table ICM deal, he said, “We were really deep, and stacks were really shallow, and we all decided to chop the money and play for the trophy.”

The top 17 places were slated to finish in the money, and Gaurav Gupta was the last player to fall out empty-handed.
