Day 2 of the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Xpress February Edition was as action-packed as the first and saw Tanmai Relwani (cover image) taking down the ₹10K Bounty (1RE), banking a top prize worth ₹2.08 Lakhs (includes 7 bounties).

The second event of the series was also a fast-paced one, and unlike the series opener, the ₹10K Bounty kicked off right on time at 5 PM on-board the Casino Deltin Royale. With late registration open till the start of Level 7, this single re-entry tournament eventually clocked in 128 entries (96 unique and 32 re-entries).

It has been a breakout year for Relwani, who has won two live titles in the last two months. His first-ever live title was the ₹20K PLO (Turbo) event that he won at the BPT 2020 January Edition last month for ₹5.80 Lakhs. The 29-year-old player from Mumbai, who started playing poker about six years ago, has done tremendously well to take down two prestigious live titles in less than two months.

Relwani was among the shorter stacks at the start of the final table. He scored a massive double through Priya Agarwal early on, which eventually led to the latter’s elimination at the hands of Dhaval Doshi. Relwani, after that, went on to eliminate Gaurav Gupta, Suraj BU, and Doshi, before squaring off against Sandeep Sharma in the heads-up finale. There was a considerable chip gap between the two finalists, with Relwani dominating his rival. Unsurprisingly, the heads-up lasted for just two hands, ultimately declaring a winner in Relwani who captured his career-first DPT title!

Talking about his win in the post-event interview, Relwani said, “It feels really nice! This was my second title, and I am really happy I did it. The year, so far, has been good to me. The two tournament series I played, I have won each one of them.”

Another player, who deserves special mention, is Dhaval Doshi. The up-and-coming player has been a revelation at the series. He started off the series on a high note by final tabling the ₹5K Burn N Turn Event, where he finished fifth for ₹1.37 Lakhs. Making back-to-back final table appearances, Doshi posted a third-place finish in tonight’s event and locked in a ₹84,500 payday (includes ₹64,500 in prize money and ₹20,000 in bounties). With this deep run, Doshi has won ₹2.21 Lakhs at the series.

The top 16 runners were assured a min-cash of ₹12,000. Some notables who cashed the event included Vishal Gupta (11th for ₹65,300 – ₹15,300 in prize money and ₹50,000 in bounties), defending champion Pawan Jaiswal (13th for ₹48,300 – ₹13,300 in prize money and ₹35,000 in bounties) and the ₹5K Burn N Turn Event runner-up Rajat Singh (15th for ₹28,300 – ₹13,300 in prize money and ₹15,000 in bounties).

TIPS co-founder Jaydeep Dawer bubbled the final table, finishing 10th for ₹45,300 (₹15,300 in prize money and ₹30,000 in bounties).

Final Table Recap

Despite being one of the top stacks at the start of the final table, Priya Agarwal lost a massive pot early on. Having finished runner-up in the 5K Burn N Turn event at the last DPTX edition in June 2019, Agarwal was gunning for the title. However, the poker gods were not very kind as the massive blow brought her down to 2,000 in chips. Soon after that, Agarwal’s were outlasted by Dhaval Doshi’s pocket fives, eliminating her in ninth place.

The 2020 BPT January Edition ₹15K Big Bounty champion Kshitij Kucheria, joined Agarwal at the rail less than 10 minutes later. Kucheria pitted his against Rahul Trivedi’s . The board bricked, ending Kucheria’s run in eighth place.

Dhaval Doshi played exceptionally well and was among the top stacks with just three players in contention. However, he lost a big pot to Relwani that saw the latter claim the chip lead.
