With three days left for the APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022 to conclude, the inaugural series has found its Main Event champion! South Korea’s Doo Sik Nam (cover image) came out on top of the guarantee-crushing 411-entry field in the VN₫ 10 Billion GTD Main Event, winning the APT lion’s trophy (his first-ever live tournament title) and a career-best VN₫ 2.60 Billion.

Nam’s Main Event win was also his first cash of the series and is almost 124X more than his previous-best live score – a 94th-place finish in the 2021 Asia Poker League (APL) Seoul Main Event for KRW 1,050,000.

The APT Main Event final table was a stacked one, with the likes of Farhad Aghayev among the final eight. The Azerbaijani pro, who shipped the APT Incheon Main Event in October, was looking to create history by becoming the first player to win two APT Main Event titles in one season. However, he fell out in seventh place for VN₫ 398 Million.

Nam entered the final table as one of the chip leaders and made quick work of Dinh Van Tien (6th for VN₫ 502 Million) and Truong Toan Chan (5th for VN₫ 650 Million). Nam was also the first player to touch 4 Million in chips. With just four players left, he also became the first to cross 5.5 Million.

By the time the heads-up match was set between Nam and Vu Duc Trung, the former was commanding a 3:1 chip advantage. The Event #10: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo winner, Trung, fought hard, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. Trung settled for a runner-up payout worth VN₫ 1.730 Billion.
