DPT April 2017: Arsh Grover Leads 31 Survivors After ₹35K Main Event Day 1A

Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) April Edition kicked off in style with its opening ₹15K kick-off event attracting a total of 169 hopefuls. Topping them all was Delhi’s Rubin Labroo who pocketed a cool ₹6.80 Lakhs. Firing up the weekend action was the ₹35K Main Event that got underway yesterday with the first of its two starting flights.

This time around, the Main Event has two starting flights i.e. Day 1A & Day 1B and the survivors from both flights will reconvene on April 22 to down to a champion.

Day 1A of the event attracted an impressive 143 runners with 31 players advancing to Day 2.

The event drew a number of big names including Adda52 Team pro’s Kunal Patni, Amit ‘bblacklegend’ Jain, Nikita Luther & Tarun Goyal alongside Sharad Rao, 15k Kickoff Champion Rubin Labroo, Anup Palod, Vivek Rughani, Arsh Grover, Manoj Pentakota, DPT February 30K Main Event champion Imran Khan, Raghav Bansal, Shashank Jain, Amit Sur, Zarvan Tumboli, Abhishek Jalan, Sahil Agarwal, Jasven Saigal, Prashant Jain Bhutoria and Minissha Lamba among others.

Delhi-ites seemed to be in form as after ten hours of tournament action another Delhi lad – Arsh Grover (cover image) bagged the chip lead with 195,000 in chips.

 

35K Main Event Day 1A

Day 1A play started around 7:30 pm and within half hour of play action starting picking up. Anup Palod, Abhishek Jalan and Shashank Jain were some of the early eliminations of the day and hit the rails within the first two hours of play.

Just a few minutes later Abhishek Jalan also joined the railbirds courtesy Sanket Sanganeria. Sanganeria opened to 250 and Jalan re-raised it to 600. Sanganeria 4-bet it to 2,700 and Jalan moved all-in holding . Sanganeria made the call and tabled . No help on the board for Jalan and he made an early exit.

Amit Jain put in a solid performance bagging 92,000 in chips. His Day 1 onslaught began with a double up through Manoj Pentakota. Pentakota opened UTG for 250 and Jain re-raised it to 800. Pentakota made the call to see the flop ; Jain bet 800 and Pentakota check-called. The turn card was the and Jain bet 1,400. Pentakota check-raised it to 4,200 and Jain took his time before making the call. On the river Pentakota fired a bet of 6,300 and Jain moved allin holding . Pentakota tank called. Jain took down the pot with his flush while Pentakota mucked his hand.

Shortly thereafter, Jain doubled up through R.G, taking his stack to 65,100 by the second break of the event.

Some notables who exited before the end of play include Pawan Jain, Vikram Kumar, Kunal Patni, Sumit Sapra, Sharad Rao, Tarun Goyal, Nikita Luther, Minissha Lamba, Navkiran Singh and Vivek Rughani.

Team PokerHigh Pro Arsh Grover topped the 31 survivors at the end of play, bagging 195,000. He was actively posting his progress on social media:

After 3 hours came the next update “30k at the 2nd break back at 600bb #teampokerhigh #binkasaurusfollowed by “71k at the last break of the day in the main coming back at 1600bb. Got moved to the feature table.#teampokerhigh #binkasaurus

And the final update from Grover confirmed his chip lead. He posted “Bagged roughly 196k in the DPT Main Day 1 coming back on Saturday. Should be one of the top stacks #teampokerhigh #binkaasaurus
