The last Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) stop of 2019 is now on the home stretch with the ₹35K Main Event scheduled to resume later today to play down to a champion. Hosting four starting flights for the very first time in its history, the DPT Main Event managed to register 448 entries in total, the second-largest field ever at this event, falling slightly short of the 458-entry record set at the July edition last year.
Each starting flight permitted eliminated players from the preceding flights to re-enter, and finally, 152 survivors returned to the Deltin Royale on Sunday for a shot at the title. After 14 levels of play, only 14 players remain in the running. Leading the group of finalists is the well-known pro Paawan Bansal who is incidentally also the only player sitting with over 2 Million in chips. He will resume play on Day 3 with 2,265,000 (45 BB’s). Ankur Sehgal (1,945,000) and the ₹15K Deep Dive event’s third-place finisher Samit Mehta (1,435,000) are the next top stacks.
Some other notables still in the running include Tarun Goyal (1,370,000), Gaurav Sood (1,175,000), Anup Palod (970,000), Siddarth Singhvi (460,000) and Pradeep Sharma (455,000), while Arjanveer Singh Chaddha (160,000), who is sporting the shortest stack in the field, is the only PokerGuru Ambassador coming back to play Day 3.
While with 448 entries the DPT Main Event is still nowhere close of the 697-entries that were recorded at the WPT India stop in November 2019, the healthy turnout was enough to overshoot the ₹1 Crore guarantee with the final prize pool touching ₹1.56 Crores. The top 56 places were paid, and while a min-cash was worth ₹58,700, there is a hefty ₹30 Lakhs cash prize awaiting the new DPT champion to be crowned today.
A total of 42 players finished in the money yesterday and some regulars who featured on the payouts list were Abhishek Goindi (16th for ₹1,75,000), Akshay Jain (19th for ₹1,45,000), Raman Gujral (20th for ₹1,45,000), Apoorva Goel (32nd for ₹85,000), Vivek Rughani (35th for ₹85,000), Gaurav Gupta (40th for ₹70,000), Eka Vedantham (51st for ₹64,000), and Kunal Patni (55th for ₹58,700).
Day 3 of the Main Event resumes at 3 pm today with the final table to be live-streamed on the Adda52 YouTube channel and Facebook.

₹35K Main Event – Day 2

The money bubble stage came with its fair share of drama with the 56th place payout, i.e., ₹58,700 being shared by Aastik Bhatia and Sunil Shah. Both players co-incidentally were holding the same amount of chips at different tables and went out at the same time. Shah took 56th spot for ₹29,350, while Bhatia took the same amount for his 57th place finish.
Maulik Desai was the final elimination of Day 2, and his departure got credited to Anmol Chawla. Chawla limped UTG, and next to act was the short-stacked Desai who moved all-in for 240,000 (6 big blinds) holding . Action folded back to Chawla who snap-called tabling . Desai was chasing an open-ended straight draw on the runout, but the inconsequential river sealed the pot for Chawla eliminating Desai in 15th place for ₹2.10 Lakhs.
Among the 14 remaining finalists are familiar faces like Tarun Goyal (1,370,000), Gaurav Sood (1,175,000), Anup Palod (970,000), Siddarth Singhvi (460,000), and Pradeep Sharma (455,000).
