Santa paid an early visit especially to Armaan “armaan007” Kochhar (cover image), this year! In a matter of just 3 days, Armaan notched up a little more than $93K in cashes with two final tables finishes at the Sunday Million and the Super Tuesday on PokerStars!
Our weekly PokerGuru Online Railbird report every Tuesday carries the top scorers at the virtual felts, and readers following these reports must have noted the recent bullish run of Armaan the past many weeks. In fact, Armaan has been steadily crushing the bigger online tournaments the entire year.
The past month, Armaan has been riding a phenomenal wave of super scores at the online felts; in fact, he has reigned as the ‘PokerGuru Star of the Week’ for two consecutive weeks starting Nov 26 to Dec 9 and the third week he was the second highest earner.
On Sunday, Armaan once again made a highly impressive finish at the PokerStars December Festival, special – Double Vision Sunday featured Sunday Million earning $70,816 for 4th place finish, his career best cash until date. With this $70,816, Armaan has now accumulated $401,378 in tracked online cashes on PokerStars and is presently ranked 2nd on the Indian MTT Leaderboard on Pocketfives.
A bare two days later, Armaan also made 6th place at the PokerStars Super Tuesday, collecting another $22,567.50.
Armaan’s score at the Sunday Million has been an amazing finish and he follows in the footsteps of Aditya “donkab0mber” Sushant, who has the distinction of being the first Indian player to make it heads-up in the event and still holds the record for bagging the highest score by an Indian at this event.
In June 2013, Sushant made $168,157 in prize money for 2nd place at the $215 buy-in, $1 Million GTD, PokerStars Sunday Million that had 6,733 players in the fray. A deal was struck before a heads up between Sushant and final winner Germany’s “ATHIED87” for an equal share of the prize money, with an extra $20K for the champion.
In Oct 2013, “kingplayer19” was another Indian player, who made a splash at the $215 No-Limit Hold’em Sunday Million, earning $128,261.40, after a four-way chop for 2nd place. The event drew 7,142 players and finally Russia’s ‘smak777′ took the title and winner’s prize of $137,435.03.
This 2014, Armaan has kept India shining among the thousands that participate in the weeks’ biggest online tournament i.e. Sunday Million on PokerStars.
The Dec 23, $215 No-Limit Hold’em Double Vision Sunday Million saw a huge 7,420-player field, with 1,044 places paid, which expanded the prize pool to $1,484,000.00. ‘Rhyno2008’ Nerro claimed the winner’s share of $217,717.64.
Armaan made the coup of achieving 4th place in this mega-tournament. The fateful hand that saw him out was when Armaan had and he was assailed by “apestyles”, who had . The flop strengthened “apestyles” with , but the turn of provided Armaan some succor. However, the river was a different story with and Armaan retired with $70,816, a great sum nevertheless.
Double Celebration at Dec 23 Super Tuesday
Just 2 days later, Armaan repeated his success story and the deal was sweeter, as he had good friend and fellow Indian Rohit “buzzzbeee85” Mariwalla for company on the final table!
With a voluminous bink on Sunday, one would have expected Armaan to take a break, but that was not the case. The player jumped right back into action, participating in the $1,050 No-Limit Hold’em Super Tuesday. The event attracted 531 runners with the top 63 players making the money.
This time Armaan made 6th place and pocketed a cool $22,567.50! On his last hand of the tournament, Armaan had the and “dickler1” was holding . A flop that read helped pair both players. Thereafter the turn gave out the river flew forth a , relieving Armaan at 6th place.
Mariwalla made 9th place, earning $8.814.60, when his were railed by “pyszalek”’s .
It will be a special Christmas for the two friends this year and we congratulate Armaan and Rohit, sure they will have a wonderful celebration!
