Juan Pardo Domínguez (cover image) has tasted early success at the 2022 European Poker Tour (EPT) London, currently underway at Hilton Park Lane! The Spanish poker pro ended a three-year-long title drought by topping the 56-entry field in the two-day-long £10,200 NLH Mystery Bounty, collecting a winner’s paycheque worth £80,280, bounties worth £160,000 and the PokerStars Spadie trophy.

On the final table, Domínguez eliminated six players, including his heads-up opponent, Henrik Hecklen. Hecklen ranked #3 on Denmark`s all-time money list and collected £62,640 in second place.

Domínguez is ranked #6 in Spain`s all-time money list, with over $4.48 Million in live tournament winnings dating back to 2016. His career-best score is the €1,013,860 he won after championing the €50,000 NLHE at the 2019 European Poker Tour in Barcelona.

The Spaniard entered the final day`s play with a top-10 stack but spun up in contention only after the tournament reached the bounty part. There were two top bounties worth £50,000 up for grabs, and Domínguez ended up winning both of them.

“I’ve only played three or four mystery bounty tournaments before, and I’ve never hit the top prize,” Domínguez said after his victory. He accumulated an impressive £160,000 through eight bounties. “It’s crazy that I hit both of them and won around £240,000 when first place was around £80,000.”

He admitted that this was one of the most memorable final tables he has ever played. “We played seven-handed for so long, the short stacks kept doubling and doubling. And then, in 30 minutes, we were heads-up. I ran very well at the end.”

The £10,200 buy-in NLH Mystery Bounty registered 56 entrants, generating a £263,200 prize pool.

Double elimination on the money bubble trimmed the field down to eight players. Paul Newey and Daewoong Song were eliminated simultaneously on separate tables on the bubble, guaranteeing the eight remaining players a payday.

Apart from the top eight players, Paul Newey (10th for £7,500) and Victoria Livschitz (11th for £10,000) collected bounty prizes.

The heads-up lasted all of one hand. Henrik Hecklen limped in the small blind, and Domínguez put in a raise for 375,000 from the big blind. Hecklen moved all in for roughly 2,250,000, and Domínguez called.
